Key Takeaways
For Paris we recommend Holafly: 17 of 20 Paris reports say it worked, the best city record we have, on the Orange network. Paris breaks eSIMs through crowds, not coverage, so we lead with the provider Paris travelers report working, not the cheapest one.
Cheaper and faster: eSIM4Travel won our test at 8.8 and has 5 positive France reports out of 5. For a budget weekend, Global YO worked for 7 of 8 Paris reviewers.
Why Paris Is the Busiest Test a Travel eSIM Faces in France
Paris runs on your phone: métro tickets in the Île-de-France Mobilités app, a timed Louvre slot as a QR code, Bonjour RATP when line 13 stops. Sixteen métro lines and about 300 stations make this the hardest French city for a roaming eSIM.
The networks are excellent. Paris fails on capacity, not coverage. When a cell at Gare du Nord is full, a roaming eSIM is served after local customers. A home carrier charges $5 to $15 a day; a Paris eSIM cuts a week to a few dollars.
Every eSIM here was bought with Vefru's own money and tested from checkout to a support ticket. For Paris we added about 140 traveler reports naming the city, its airports, the métro, Disneyland Paris or the suburbs. Live prices are in our France eSIM comparison.

Which eSIM Providers Are Cheapest in France?
Providers sell different amounts of data at different prices, so price per GB is the fairest way to compare them. Each bar below shows a provider's median price per GB for its France plans with 1 to 10 GB of data and 6 to 14 days of validity, which covers most one- and two-week trips. The shorter the bar, the less you pay for each GB. A France plan costs the same wherever you use it in the country, so these prices apply to Paris too.
Generated 05.10.2026 14:33
A low price per GB isn't the whole story. Compare it with how often each provider worked for travelers in France in the chart above, and check the speed caps and plan sizes in the provider sections below before you buy.

- Cheapest plan Yesim €0.45 0.5 GB 1 days
- Cheapest 5 GB plan eSIM4Travel $3.9 5 GB 30 days

- Longest validity Roamless $390 200 GB 999 days

A France plan bought for Paris also covers Versailles, the Champagne vineyards and every other corner of metropolitan France. Two places are never included: the overseas territories and Monaco. The figures above come live from our plan database.
Which Network Your Paris eSIM Should Use (Métro, Crowds and Suburbs)
Four operators own the towers in France: Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free Mobile. A travel eSIM rents capacity on one or more. In the regulator's summer 2025 campaign Orange delivered perfect-quality calls 91% of the time nationally, Bouygues 88%, SFR 87% and Free 84%.
Underground the gap closes: in the métro Bouygues, SFR and Orange each held 97% of two-minute calls, Free 96%. Orange leads on upload speed in dense areas, 34 Mbit/s against 20 for Free, which you feel posting photos from Montmartre. Our guide to eSIMs with more than one network explains how to switch.
Reviews match the numbers. A Simify traveler reported 5G everywhere around Paris, and a Ubigi user had constant data on public transport, including underground. The failures cluster in crowds and suburbs. A GigSky reviewer lost data only in very busy areas, and a Nomad customer saw constant drops on SFR in the suburbs. Ubigi failed in Palaiseau, Montevrain and Serris.
Which network you get depends on the provider. Holafly is Orange only, and Airalo, eSIM4Travel and GigSky also ride on Orange. Nomad and Yesim add Bouygues, Saily adds SFR, GoMoWorld adds Free, Roamless lists all four, and Ubigi never uses Orange. One thing is moving: Bouygues, Free and Orange agreed in June 2026 to buy SFR, with completion planned for late 2027.
To check the block where your hotel stands, use the regulator's Mon Réseau Mobile map. It shows all four operators per address, outdoors, so a green square can still mean a weak signal behind thick 19th-century walls. Our 4G vs 5G guide is blunt about chasing 5G here: 4G is plenty for maps and messages.
Eight eSIM Providers Compared for Paris
Each provider below went through our paid test, has a live plan table below and enough France reviews to judge. Paris gave us about 140 traveler reports, more than every other French city combined. Holafly and Ubigi have the cleanest records, GigSky and Nomad the most reports, Airalo the most complaints.

eSIM4Travel eSIM in our hands

eSIM4Travel scored 8.8 in our test, the highest here, with a perfect 10 for price and 10 for support. It is reported on Orange, and all five France reviews are positive. One traveler opened the chat with a connection problem and got a new eSIM at no charge.
There is no app: buy on the website, scan a QR code, go. The unlimited plan runs full speed for 3 GB a day, then 1 Mbps. Nobody in our set names Paris. Our eSIM4Travel review has the screenshots.

Saily eSIM in our hands

Saily scored 8.5 with the best app here (9/10) and a 10 for support. It uses Orange and SFR, so a busy cell near Gare de Lyon is not the end of the story. The profile reinstalls, which mattered to a Canadian whose phone was stolen in the métro: support credited him a new eSIM.
The unlimited plan allows 5 GB a day at full speed, the most generous cap here, with no hotspot limit. One Irish traveler still hit it on day two. We have a single France report, so the record is thin. Our Saily review has the speed tests.

Holafly eSIM in our hands

Holafly has the best Paris sample of any tested provider: 17 of 20 reports worked, and 58 of 62 across France. Travelers describe five days with no issues, a phone that came alive at CDG, and one plan that carried a family from Paris and Disneyland to Marseille. Its help center confirms Orange as the only French network.
The complaints are about speed: 3G in the center, too slow for remote work. Our test agrees at 6.2, speed 4/10, price 4/10. Hotspot stops at 1 GB a day and the profile installs once. See our Holafly review and Airalo vs Holafly.

Nomad eSIM in our hands

Nomad has 98 France reports, 79 positive, and 18 of 26 for Paris. Two reviewers wrote that QR activation at Charles de Gaulle was incredibly fast, and others describe strong 5G across the city. It is reported on Orange and Bouygues, and posted 665 Mbps on Orange in an independent Lille test.
The weak spots are specific: constant drops on SFR in the suburbs, and three bars of 3G in the center while another phone showed 5G. Our test scored Nomad 6.8, with support at 2/10, the joint lowest here. Our Nomad review has the transcript.

GigSky eSIM in our hands

GigSky has more Paris reports than any provider, 28, and 21 are positive. Many used data included with a credit card, and several had service the moment they landed at CDG. It runs on its own profile plus Orange, and scored 7.2 in our test with a 9 for support.
Read the seven negatives first: 3.5 Mbps across London, Paris and Strasbourg for one Canadian, and no 5G in Paris for another. The free 100 MB trial needs no card and proves your phone handles eSIM. More in our GigSky review.

Global YO eSIM in our hands

Global YO is usually the cheapest name in our comparison tool, and scored 8.0 in our test: 10 for price, 9 for installation, 5 for support. Seven of eight Paris reports are positive, including fast speeds in crowded parts of the city.
The one failure is telling: a Europe package worked half the time in Paris and all the time in Frankfurt. Global YO does not name its French network, and a German reviewer identified it as Free. Unlimited is capped at 1 GB a day, and the APN may need setting to globaldata. Our Global YO review has the speed test.

Airalo eSIM in our hands

Airalo is the eSIM most travelers already have installed, and it has the weakest record we track: 27 of 49 France reports positive, 6 of 10 for Paris. Its France page names Orange, so the network is not the issue. One German said it worked about 60% of the time, with full bars and nothing loading.
It is not all bad: one traveler rode from Paris to Switzerland with great internet all the way. Our test gave Airalo 7.3, with 9 for purchase and installation but 4 for price. Read our Airalo review or the three Airalo alternatives.

Yesim eSIM in our hands

Yesim is the quiet performer here: all three Paris reports are positive, and 13 of 16 for France. It is reported on Orange and Bouygues, switching between them by itself. The one-day unlimited plan costs about $3.50, which suits a layover.
Our test scored it 6.2: 8 for speed, 8 for installation, 2/10 for support. The profile is single-install, so do not delete it. Our Yesim review has the details.

GoMoWorld, Jetpac, Ubigi, Simify and Others in Paris
GoMoWorld (8.2) posted a perfect 10 in our speed test on Orange and Free, and one Irish visitor called it the best eSIM he had used in Paris. Jetpac (6.7) was seen only on Free, has 4 of 6 Paris reports good, and keeps Maps, WhatsApp and Uber working after your data runs out. ByteSIM (5.3) uses Orange and Bouygues and sells plans with a French +33 number.
Three untested providers matter here. Ubigi (no Orange) has 17 of 20 Paris reports positive, including one underground, but failed at CDG, in Palaiseau and around Disneyland. Simify has 15 of 16 at a high price. Maya Mobile has the largest positive France sample, 144 of 153, and sells only multi-country plans. All are priced in our France comparison tool.

No unlimited plan here is unlimited at full speed. Global YO slows after 1 GB a day, Nomad after 2 GB, eSIM4Travel and Jetpac after 3 GB, Saily after 5 GB. Holafly caps hotspot use at 1 GB. For most weeks in Paris a 5 GB or 10 GB fixed plan costs less and never throttles. Our cheapest eSIM comparison ranks the budget plans.
How Much Data a Week in Paris Takes
Paris eats data because you rarely put the phone away: maps running for hours, the RATP app, museum QR tickets and a lot of photos. A moderate day is about 0.7 GB, so a week lands near 5 GB. One Nomad customer found 20 GB plenty for ten days across Paris and London; another bought 3 GB for a week and ran out on day five.
Two habits move the total. A Jetpac user lost 4 GB of a 5 GB pack to iPhone background services in two days, so switch off background app refresh before you land. And use the Wi-Fi in hotels, cafés and the city's free network. Keep the eSIM for the street and the métro.
Download the central Paris map area before you fly and set video apps to Wi-Fi only. More tricks are in our data-saving tips for vacation. For a number matched to your habits, try the travel data calculator, or read what 2 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB get you in practice.
Day Trips From Paris: Versailles, Disneyland, London and Brussels
Versailles, Giverny and Fontainebleau are inside France, so the same eSIM carries you there. Disneyland Paris is the one to watch. A Ubigi customer could not get a decent 5G signal in Montevrain and Serris, the towns wrapping the park, though the same eSIM worked well in Paris. Holafly customers report no trouble. Take a plan with Orange and download your tickets at the hotel.
The Eurostar to London takes two hours and 16 minutes, and a France-only plan dies under the Channel. Brussels is the same story: a travel eSIM covers only the countries on its list. Buy a Europe plan or pair France with the UK in our multi-country search, then read the UK eSIM guide. One Roamless traveler lost her remaining data moving from Scotland to Paris, because the credit was tied to the wrong region.
Buying a SIM at CDG or Orly vs Installing an eSIM at Home
Neither CDG nor Orly has an operator shop in arrivals. SIM cards come from Relay newsstands and the Tourist Information desks, which stock Orange and Bouygues, and only the tourist desks sell eSIMs. French law requires ID for every SIM. Travel guides report about €40 for an Orange Holiday pack with 30 GB at CDG, a counter price we could not verify.
Online the operators are cheaper: Orange Travel sells data-only Europe plans from about $6 for 1 GB and $23 for 10 GB over 14 days. SFR La Carte starts at €4.99 for 40 GB. For data alone, a travel eSIM at roughly $9 to $14 for 10 GB still beats the airport counter and saves you a queue. Our eSIM vs SIM comparison works through the rest.
Free eSIM Data for a Paris Layover
If all you need at CDG is the RER timetable and a message home, you may not need to pay. Roamless gives new customers 500 MB free with a first purchase and lists all four French networks. Its France record is modest, 5 positive reports out of 8.
GigSky hands out a free 100 MB France trial with no card, and up to 500 MB on its Europe trial. Some Visa cards unlock up to 5 GB, and several Paris reviewers were using that perk. Every no-cost option is in our free eSIM guide, and the France comparison tool lists free plans next to paid ones.
What 140 Paris Traveler Reports Told Us
Paris generates more eSIM reviews than any other French city, about 140 across eleven providers. People write when something goes very right or very wrong, so read this as warnings and confirmations rather than a scoreboard.
GigSky has the most Paris reports (28, 21 positive): data the moment they landed, and a week with no glitches. The negatives are speed, including 3.5 Mbps averages and one unlimited plan that slowed after 2 GB. Nomad (26, 18 positive) earned two compliments for near-instant activation at CDG, against 3G in the center and drops in the suburbs.
Holafly (20, 17 positive) is the reliability story: five, four and ten days without a hiccup. One family crossed Paris, Disneyland, Marseille and Cassis on a single plan. Its three failures all describe 3G in the center. Ubigi (20, 17 positive) gave a British traveler constant data underground, then failed at CDG and around Disneyland. Simify posted 15 of 16, Global YO 7 of 8, Yesim 3 of 3, Jetpac 4 of 6 and Airalo 6 of 10.

Setting Up Your eSIM Before You Land at Charles de Gaulle
Install at home on Wi-Fi, days before the flight. Every provider here lets you install now and activate on arrival, so a problem gets fixed from your sofa instead of a CDG arrivals hall.
- Confirm the phone qualifies. It needs eSIM hardware and a carrier unlock. A Nomad customer's wife could not connect in Paris because her phone was locked. Check yours in our list of phones with eSIM.
- Install on home Wi-Fi. Scan the emailed QR code or let the app do it, with our iPhone and Samsung guides. Only got a code? Convert it to a QR code.
- Never delete the profile. Holafly, Global YO, eSIM4Travel and Yesim allow a single install. Saily, Nomad, GigSky, Roamless and Ubigi can be reinstalled.
- When the wheels touch down: switch the eSIM line on, enable Data Roaming, make it your data line and turn off data on your home SIM. Nothing after a few minutes? Toggle airplane mode, then pick Orange F by hand.
- Still nothing? Check the APN (Global YO uses globaldata), then use the free CDG Wi-Fi to reach support. Jetpac replaced one traveler's eSIM there in 15 minutes. The rest is in our eSIM troubleshooting guide.
Arriving in Paris: CDG and Orly both have free Wi-Fi, so use it if the eSIM has not found a network within a few minutes. GigSky and Nomad customers report data before baggage claim, and the RER B has signal most of the way in. Two travelers in our set had phones stolen in the métro. Both moved their eSIM to a new phone through their provider account, so keep those login details off the phone.

Our Verdict on the Best eSIM for Paris
Paris is the toughest French city for a travel eSIM, so buy on evidence rather than brand. Holafly is our pick on the reports we have, 17 of 20 positive, with slower speeds as the trade-off. eSIM4Travel won our test at 8.8 and costs far less, though no reviewer names Paris.
Global YO is the cheapest weekend option at 7 of 8. Airalo is the one to think twice about, at 55% for France. Install at home, download the métro map, and compare live prices in our France eSIM comparison tool.

Compare all eSIMsWhy can you trust Vefru?
Founders František and Jan experienced problems with mobile data every time they traveled outside the EU. As technology enthusiasts, the idea of traveling abroad without a data connection or risking truly insane roaming fees was unacceptable to them. Regardless of how adventurous the story of walking across Toronto on a winter night without an online map might be, it's not something they would want to repeat.
After the emergence of eSIM and later eSIM travel data package providers, they learned a lot about the technology and industry and decided to share their findings and the comparison tool they created for themselves with others. It now contains more than 20,000 updated eSIM mobile data packages from the most popular providers for more than 170 countries around the world.
Every time you read a guide on Vefru, it is created in the same way the author would research the topic themselves. From contacting locals about the best network operators, to recommending the most advantageous plans for what you really need, to technical guides on how to create a QR code for eSIM or how to troubleshoot eSIM issues. Most articles are created based on topics that the authors themselves have dealt with and for which they found the best solutions.
