Best eSIM for Toulouse (2026): Tested Providers for the City, the Pyrenees and Andorra

František Macháček
Best eSIM in French Cities

Key Takeaways

Key Takeaways

For Toulouse we recommend Holafly, the only provider with clean reports from both the city and the Pyrenees, on a 94% France record. Orange is the operator the regulator ranks first in rural and mountain France, and Holafly runs on Orange alone.

  • One traveler ran two phones for eight days in Toulouse for about $63. A second has a clean Pyrenees report.
  • 58 of 62 France reviews say it worked, the strongest large sample among the providers we test.
  • Drawback: 4/10 for speed in our test, and hotspot is capped at 1 GB a day.
  • To hotspot a laptop or a motorhome TV, Nomad gave one traveler excellent signal from the north of France to the Pyrenees, though its support scored 2/10. For the cheapest plan, eSIM4Travel won our test at 8.8 on Orange.

Toulouse: Aerospace Capital and the Door to the Pyrenees

Toulouse builds aircraft, plays rugby and eats cassoulet. Tram T2 links Blagnac airport to the metro in about 20 minutes, and Matabiau station handles the trains to Carcassonne, Albi and Lourdes.

The Pyrenees are why this guide differs from our Paris one. The mountains are two hours away, the regulator lists them among the places where every French operator loses signal, and Andorra beyond them is not in the EU. One Nomad customer had no connection at all there.

Every eSIM we review is paid for by Vefru and tested end to end: purchase, install, speed and a support request. For Toulouse we read every report naming the city, the Pyrenees or Andorra, then used the regulator's mountain measurements to fill the gaps. The named sample is small, and we say so. Current prices for the whole country are in our France eSIM comparison.

How well each provider's eSIM works in France

The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in France. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

Which eSIM Providers Are Cheapest in France?

Providers sell different amounts of data at different prices, so price per GB is the fairest way to compare them. Each bar below shows a provider's median price per GB for its France plans with 1 to 10 GB of data and 6 to 14 days of validity, which covers most one- and two-week trips. The shorter the bar, the less you pay for each GB. A France plan costs the same wherever you use it in the country, so these prices apply to Toulouse too.

    Generated 05.10.2026 14:33

A low price per GB isn't the whole story. Compare it with how often each provider worked for travelers in France in the chart above, and check the speed caps and plan sizes in the provider sections below before you buy.

Toulouse eSIM Plans at a Glance

A France plan bought for Toulouse covers Carcassonne, Albi, Lourdes, the French side of the Pyrenees and the rest of metropolitan France. It stops at the Spanish border and at Andorra, a separate country that many Europe plans leave out.

Networks Around Toulouse: Flat City, Steep Mountains

In France, every travel eSIM borrows capacity from Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom or Free Mobile. In Toulouse, flat and spread out, all four are strong and 5G is common. The regulator's 2025 campaign is more useful for the trips out of town. In rural zones Orange loaded web pages within five seconds 79% of the time, SFR 75%, Free 72% and Bouygues 71%.

The same report names the Pyrenees, alongside the Alps and the Cévennes, as places where every operator drops signal. Orange leads there too, with rural upload speeds of 14 Mbit/s against 8 for Free. A plan that uses Orange, or one that switches between two networks, is the right call for a trip that leaves the city. Switching by hand is explained in our guide to multi-network eSIMs.

Reviews from the region are encouraging. A Holafly customer got eight days of service in Toulouse for two phones and called the eSIM a lifesaver. A Nomad traveler in a motorhome had excellent signal from the north of France down to the Pyrenees. An Australian couple on 60-day Simify plans crossed remote areas including the Pyrenees and never missed a beat.

The failures come from the border. A Nomad customer found the connection missing quite often in rural southern France, Spain and Portugal, and not available at all in Andorra. A Ubigi customer had poor connectivity for several days across the south; Ubigi never uses Orange. One local fact: Orange switched off its 2G network in Haute-Garonne and the surrounding departments on 9 June 2026. That means nothing for an eSIM phone, but an old backup handset may find no signal.

Before you book a gîte in the Ariège or a chalet at Saint-Lary, check the address on the regulator's Mon Réseau Mobile map. It shows outdoor coverage per operator. Strict white zones with no coverage at all hold only about 0.18% of the French population, but mountain valleys are where most of them are. Our 4G vs 5G guide explains why a steady 4G bar beats a flickering 5G one on a mountain road.

Eight eSIM Providers Compared for Toulouse

The eight providers below all went through our paid test, have a live plan table further down and enough France reviews to judge. Toulouse itself appears in a single named report, so we combine it with Pyrenees and southern France experiences and with each provider's France-wide record and network.

eSIM4Travel scored 8.8 in our hands-on test, the highest of any provider, with a perfect 10 for price and 10 for support. It is reported on Orange, the operator with the best rural and mountain scores, and all five France reviews are positive.

Nobody in our set names Toulouse, so this is a France pick backed by our own test. It has no app, installs from a QR code, and permits one install only. A Swiss customer who uses it across France every year found a manual network search often gave a better signal, a habit worth adopting in the Pyrenees. Our eSIM4Travel review shows the speed test.

    Saily eSIM in our hands

Saily testing outdoor Saily testing speed 1 Saily testing speed 2 Saily testing support

Saily scored 8.5 in our test with the best app in the group (9/10) and a 10 for support. In France it rides on Orange and SFR. For an Airbus visitor working from a hotel near Blagnac, the unlimited plan matters most: 5 GB a day at full speed with unrestricted hotspot, then 1 Mbps.

That cap surprised one Irish customer on day two of a two-week holiday, so plan around it. The profile reinstalls and activates itself on arrival, and Saily bundles ad blocking for a work laptop. It has only one France report in our set, which leaves its network record thin. The speed tests are in our Saily review.

Holafly testing outdoor Holafly testing support Holafly testing support 2 Holafly testing speed

Holafly is our pick because it has clean named reports from both the city and the mountains. An American with no roaming plan found Holafly on airport Wi-Fi. She got eight days of service in Toulouse for two phones for about $63 with a discount code. Another traveler has a positive Pyrenees report. Nationwide, 58 of 62 France reviews report it working, all on Orange.

The trade-offs are known. Our test scored it 6.2, with 4/10 for speed and 4/10 for price, hotspot capped at 1 GB a day and one install per profile. One customer touring Spain, southern France and Italy spent most of the trip offline. Whether unlimited is worth it is weighed in our Holafly review.

Nomad testing preview Nomad testing speed 1 Nomad testing speed 2 Nomad testing support

Nomad has the most useful mountain review in our set. A Mexican traveler in a motorhome had excellent signal everywhere from the north of France to the Pyrenees and hotspotted a TV on the way. Nomad is reported on Orange and Bouygues, and 79 of 98 France reports are positive. Unlimited slows after 2 GB a day; 10 GB costs about $14.

The same region produced the warning. A Nomad customer touring rural southern France, Spain and Portugal found the connection missing quite often, and in Andorra not available at all. Our test scored Nomad 6.8 with support at 2/10, so a problem on a mountain pass may wait. Read the transcript in our Nomad review.

Airalo is the eSIM most travelers already carry, and its France record is the weakest we track: 27 of 49 reports positive. Its French network, by its own account, is Orange. The mountain report is good: a hiker on the Tour du Mont Blanc found the regional plan solid even in remote alpine areas.

The France reports from 2026 are not. Travelers describe plans that stopped after crossing into France, two France eSIMs that never connected, and pages that took 20 seconds to load with full 5G bars. In our test Airalo reached 7.3: 9 for purchase and installation, 4 for price. Our Airalo review goes further, and three Airalo alternatives give you options.

France reviewers report it working 12 times out of 16. Jetpac (6.7) was seen only on Free, the weakest mountain network, though 9 of 12 France reports are positive. ByteSIM (5.3) uses Orange and Bouygues, and one remote worker praised its unrestricted 5G hotspot across Spain and France.

Among untested providers, Simify has 25 of 26 France reports positive, and a couple on 60-day unlimited plans crossed the Pyrenees without a gap. How Much Data a Toulouse Trip Takes

Toulouse itself is a modest data city: tram tickets in the Tisséo app, maps, a Cité de l'Espace booking and photos of the pink brick. Call it 0.5 GB a day. The mountains move the maths, because maps run for hours in the car and the rental has weak Wi-Fi. Plan on 5 GB for a city week and 10 GB once the Pyrenees are involved.

Reviews set the range. A Nomad customer in a motorhome hotspotted a TV all the way to the Pyrenees, which only works on a large or unlimited plan. A Jetpac user lost 4 GB of a 5 GB pack to phone background services in two days, so switch off automatic updates before you leave.

Download the Toulouse map and your mountain valleys in Google Maps before you go, and keep photo backup on Wi-Fi only. Our data-saving tips have more, the travel data calculator turns your habits into a figure, and our 5 GB and 10 GB guides show what each amount buys.

Day Trips From Toulouse: Carcassonne, Lourdes, the Pyrenees and Andorra

Carcassonne is an hour by train and Albi a little less; both are covered like any French town, with signal shadows inside the medieval walls and the cathedral. Lourdes and the Pyrenean valleys are two hours away and different. The regulator lists the Pyrenees among the places where every operator loses signal, though Nomad, Holafly and Simify customers all report working data across the range.

Andorra is three hours by road and the trap of this region. It is not in the EU, it has its own operator, and most France and Europe plans leave it out. A Nomad customer had no connection there at all. Check your plan's country list, or search France, Andorra and Spain together in our multi-country tool. Switch off data on your home SIM in Andorra too, since EU roaming rules do not apply.

Buying a SIM in Toulouse vs Installing an eSIM at Home

Toulouse-Blagnac has no operator shop in arrivals. In the city, Orange, SFR, Bouygues and Free all have stores around the Capitole, and staff will record your passport at the counter as French law requires. A local prepaid SIM gives you a +33 number, which helps with a long Airbus assignment or a rental agency that texts a code.

Online, the operators' travel products are cheaper than any counter. Orange Travel prices data-only Europe plans at roughly $6 for 1 GB and $23 for 10 GB over two weeks. SFR La Carte begins at €4.99 for 40 GB. For a data-only trip, a travel eSIM at $9 to $14 for 10 GB wins and is already installed when the tram reaches the city. The rest is in our eSIM vs SIM comparison.

Free eSIM Data for a Toulouse Stopover

A short stop between flights may not need a paid plan. GigSky hands new users a card-free 100 MB France trial, and up to 500 MB on a Europe trial. Up to 5 GB is free with some Visa cards, and it is the cheapest way to confirm your phone handles eSIM before a mountain week.

Roamless gives first-time buyers 500 MB free and lists all four French networks, including Orange for the Pyrenees. One customer used its pay-as-you-go credit in remote areas of France with good signal everywhere. All the no-cost options are in our free eSIM guide.

What Travelers Told Us About eSIMs in Toulouse and the Pyrenees

Toulouse produces few eSIM reviews, but the Pyrenees attract motorhomes, hikers and pilgrims who write about coverage in detail. Treat the reports below as confirmations and warnings, not a ranking.

Holafly rescued an American who landed with no roaming plan: eight days of service in Toulouse on two phones for about $63. A second Holafly customer has a clean Pyrenees report. Nomad gave a motorhome traveler excellent signal from the north of France to the Pyrenees. Left another customer with frequent gaps in rural southern France, Spain and Portugal, and nothing in Andorra.

Simify carried an Australian couple across remote areas including the Pyrenees on 60-day unlimited plans, and kept a Camino walker connected for 38 days. Ubigi split the south of France: great connection for one visitor, poor connectivity for several days for another. A GigSky driver crossed Spain and southern France with WhatsApp working the whole way, and a Global YO customer in the French Alps never got online.

Setting Up Your eSIM Before Toulouse and the Mountains

Install at home on Wi-Fi, days before you fly. You can load every plan here in advance and switch it on at the airport. A mountain gîte with one bar of signal is the worst place to discover a locked phone.

      1. Check the phone. Two things are required: eSIM hardware and a carrier unlock. A locked phone is the most common cause of failure; one Holafly buyer found out after paying and got no refund. Look your phone up in our phones with eSIM list.
      2. Match the plan to the map. France covers Toulouse and the French Pyrenees. Andorra and Spain need a Europe or multi-country plan, and Andorra is missing from many of those, so read the country list.
      3. Install on Wi-Fi. Use the QR code from your email or the in-app install; our iPhone and Samsung guides show each screen. A code with no QR image can be converted here.
      4. On landing at Blagnac: turn the eSIM line on, enable Data Roaming, make it the mobile data line and switch off data on your home SIM. Holafly, eSIM4Travel, Global YO and Yesim are single-install, so a deleted profile is gone.
      5. In the valleys: if data stops, select the network by hand, Orange F first, and drop 5G to 4G. Our troubleshooting guide lists the five faults behind most failures.

Blagnac airport has free Wi-Fi, and tram T2 has signal all the way to the metro interchange. One Holafly customer found and installed her eSIM on airport Wi-Fi with no plan at all, so a late start is recoverable. Arriving by train from Paris takes four hours or more across empty countryside, so judge the eSIM at Matabiau station, not in the fields. Renting a car for the Pyrenees? Download the valley maps before you leave the terminal Wi-Fi.

      Toulouse eSIM Questions Answered

      Frequently Asked Questions

Will my eSIM work in the Pyrenees and at the ski resorts south of Toulouse?
In the towns and resorts, usually yes; in the valleys and on the slopes, expect gaps. The regulator lists the Pyrenees among the places where every French operator loses signal, and Orange has the best rural figures of the four. Reviews are encouraging. A Nomad motorhome traveler had excellent signal to the Pyrenees, a Holafly customer has a clean Pyrenees report, and a Simify couple crossed the range without a gap. Download piste and trail maps in Toulouse, and drop the phone to 4G when 5G flickers.
Does my Toulouse eSIM work in Andorra?
Almost certainly not. Andorra is not in the EU, it has its own operator, and it is missing from most France and Europe plans. A Nomad customer touring the region had no connection at all there. If Andorra is on your itinerary, check the plan's country list before you buy. Our France comparison at (eSIM Comparison) will show a multi-country plan that names it. Switch off data on your home SIM there too, because EU roaming rules do not apply.
How much data do I need for ten days in Toulouse and the Pyrenees?
About 10 GB. City days use roughly 0.5 GB for maps, Tisséo transport tickets, bookings and photos. Mountain days use more, because maps run for hours in the car and rural rentals have weak Wi-Fi. When the Wi-Fi failed him in rural France, a Nomad customer paid about $16 for a week of unlimited data. Another hotspotted a motorhome TV all the way to the Pyrenees. Does the Orange 2G switch-off in Haute-Garonne affect my eSIM?
No. Orange switched off 2G in Haute-Garonne and the surrounding departments on 9 June 2026, and the other operators follow across France in late 2026. Every phone that can hold an eSIM is a 4G or 5G phone, so it never touches 2G. The only travelers affected are those carrying an old 2G-only backup handset, which will find no Orange signal in the Toulouse area. The freed spectrum goes to 4G and 5G, which is good news for the valleys.
Which eSIM is best for a business trip to Toulouse with a laptop hotspot?
Saily, in our view. Its unlimited plan allows 5 GB a day at full speed with unrestricted hotspot use. It scored 8.5 in our test with the best app and a 10 for support. Holafly is reliable but caps hotspot use at 1 GB a day, which a laptop empties by lunch. ByteSIM sells plans with unrestricted 5G hotspot that a remote worker praised, though our support test scored it 2/10. For a week of meetings, a 20 GB fixed plan is often cheaper than unlimited.
Can I use my Toulouse eSIM for a day trip to Carcassonne or Lourdes?
Yes. Both are in France and covered by any France plan, with the usual signal shadows inside Carcassonne's medieval walls and the basilica at Lourdes. The trains take about an hour to Carcassonne and two hours to Lourdes, mostly across open country where phones reconnect quickly. If the Lourdes trip continues into the mountains, download the valley map first. Yesim's one-day unlimited plan at about $3.50 covers a single day trip.

Our Verdict on the Best eSIM for Toulouse

Toulouse is easy; the mountains and the borders are the test. Holafly is the best eSIM for Toulouse in our view: clean reports from the city and the Pyrenees, a 94% France record and the Orange network. Speed and price are the cost. Nomad is the hotspot alternative that carried a motorhome to the Pyrenees.

eSIM4Travel is the value pick that won our overall test. Whatever you choose, treat Andorra as another country, download the valley maps, and compare live prices in our France eSIM comparison tool.

      Why can you trust Vefru?

Founders František and Jan experienced problems with mobile data every time they traveled outside the EU. As technology enthusiasts, the idea of traveling abroad without a data connection or risking truly insane roaming fees was unacceptable to them. Regardless of how adventurous the story of walking across Toronto on a winter night without an online map might be, it's not something they would want to repeat.

After the emergence of eSIM and later eSIM travel data package providers, they learned a lot about the technology and industry and decided to share their findings and the comparison tool they created for themselves with others. It now contains more than 20,000 updated eSIM mobile data packages from the most popular providers for more than 170 countries around the world.

Every time you read a guide on Vefru, it is created in the same way the author would research the topic themselves. From contacting locals about the best network operators, to recommending the most advantageous plans for what you really need, to technical guides on how to create a QR code for eSIM or how to troubleshoot eSIM issues. Most articles are created based on topics that the authors themselves have dealt with and for which they found the best solutions.
