When the clock starts
Depends on the plan: at purchase, at installation or on first network connection. Our test plan started the moment we paid, so buy close to your trip.
Plan lengths
Fixed country plans 30 days; unlimited plans any length from 1 to 30 days. Activate within 180 days on most country pages, 90 for Japan, or up to 12 months with Activate later.
Calls & SMS
Data only: no calls, SMS or emergency calls. Virtual numbers for receiving SMS are a separate paid product in the app (UK, US, Netherlands, Canada), from $3.30 per month.
Free trial
Not free: a trial eSIM with 500 MB for one day costs $0.60, for first-time users in 50+ countries.
Support
24/7 live chat in the app and on the website (bot first, then an agent) and email. No phone line. Replies took 15 to 60 minutes in our test.

Pros and cons

Plus icon Fast data in our test: 135 Mbps download and 90 Mbps upload.
Plus icon Unlimited plans sold by the day, from 1 to 30 days, plus pay-as-you-go credit charged per MB.
Plus icon Many ways to pay, including PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Klarna, iDEAL and crypto, and the eSIM lands in your inbox the moment you pay.
Plus icon Website in 44 languages, including Czech and Polish; the iOS app lists 22.
Minus icon Customer support was the slowest we have tested: 15 to 60 minutes per reply, mostly pre-written templates.
Minus icon Fixed-data country plans cost about 14% more than the market median, and Yesim is among the two dearest providers in 11 of 24 popular destinations.
Minus icon Data cuts off the instant the plan is used up, and the app needs internet to work, so you cannot top up once you have run out.
Minus icon The sign-in form signs you up for marketing emails with no checkbox and no way to opt out, and the app pushes notifications and upsells.

Yesim eSIM in our hands

Yesim speed test on our phone
We bought, installed and tested the Yesim eSIM ourselves, in Czechia.

This Yesim review is based on a Yesim eSIM we bought with our own money. We tested it on the same Android phone we use for every provider, from our base in Czechia. We bought a plan on the website, installed the eSIM, ran a speed test, used up the data and contacted customer support twice. Yesim scored 6.7 out of 10, pulled down by the slowest support we have tested so far.

The hands-on test is only part of the picture. We also compared Yesim's prices with 13 other providers across thousands of like-for-like plans. We read its terms and privacy policy, and checked where travelers say the eSIM worked. The score is the plain average of eight categories, five from the test and three from that data.

If this is your first eSIM, our guide to checking compatibility, buying and installing a first eSIM covers the basics before you read on.

Yesim purchase process

Purchase process

Vefru rating

Quick email login and instant eSIM delivery, but Google Pay dumped us on the homepage and a promo plan vanished after sign-in.

Verdict: Easy to buy once you sign in by email, but the Google Pay flow and a vanishing promo plan turned our first attempt into a mess.

Yesim sells through yesim.app and through its iOS and Android app, and the shop looks simple at first glance. You pick a destination, a plan and a payment method, and the eSIM lands in your inbox the moment you pay. The trouble in our test came earlier, at the sign-in step.

How to buy a Yesim eSIM in 5 steps

  1. Pick a destination. Yesim sells single-country plans, regional bundles, global packages, city plans and a cruise eSIM [1].
  2. Pick a plan type. Fixed data valid for 30 days, unlimited data priced per day, Pay & Fly credit charged per MB used, or an Unlim Day Pass of unlimited 24-hour days [1].
  3. Sign in. Email is the quick route: type your address, the code arrives in real time, paste it back in. Google and Apple sign-in are on the same screen, and the privacy policy mentions Facebook login too [3].
  4. Pay. Yesim's help page lists Visa, Mastercard, Amex, PayPal, Klarna, iDEAL, Binance Pay and crypto, with Google Pay in the Android app and Apple Pay in the iOS app [4]. Google Pay also worked for us on the website.
  5. Get the eSIM. It arrives by email right away and shows in your account with an install button, instructions and a data meter.

Two things to know before you pay. Adding a new card triggers a €0.50 verification charge, which Yesim refunds as €0.50 in Ycoins, its in-app credit [2]. Your first purchase also lets Yesim store the card for later charges, an authorization you can revoke in the account settings [2].

What went wrong when we bought a Yesim eSIM

  • Google Pay sent us in a loop. We chose Google Pay and pressed Pay. The site then asked us to sign in, and after signing in with Google it dropped us on the homepage. We had to find the plan again, unsure whether we had already paid.
  • The cheapest plan vanished after sign-in. Logged out, the shop showed a 500 MB plan. Logged in, it was gone, with no explanation. Support told us after more than 30 minutes that it was a promotional price not open to past buyers. Yesim's terms do say promotions are for new users unless the promotion rules state otherwise [2], but the plan page said nothing about a promotion.
  • A big jump to the next size. The next plan on the list was 3 GB for €11.00, with no 1 GB plan in between. As a first plan that is an unnecessarily large and expensive step.
  • Marketing emails by default. The sign-in form carries fine print: by signing in you agree to receive marketing emails. There is no checkbox and no way to continue without agreeing. That is not how opt-in consent works under EU privacy rules. Yesim's own privacy policy says you may object to direct marketing at any time [3].

On a second email address the purchase went through quickly: email code, Google Pay, done. The eSIM email arrived immediately. The flow works; it just needs you to sign in first and to know that promo plans can disappear.

Yesim plan starts at purchase: buy close to your trip

Our plan was active the moment we paid, so the 30-day clock was already running. Yesim's help center says the start depends on the plan: at purchase, at installation or on first network connection [6]. The homepage FAQ says a plan starts right after purchase unless you tap Activate later, which keeps it for 12 months [1].

Country pages give their own deadlines: 180 days to activate in the United States and Thailand [7] [9], 90 days for Japan [8]. Check the plan page before you pay and, if in doubt, buy as close to departure as you can. Buying two or more eSIMs at once gives 10% off [7].

Yesim mobile app

Mobile app

Vefru rating

Clean and easy to use, but it nags for notifications, pushes upsells and showed 20 MB left after the data had cut off.

Verdict: Clean and easy to use, but it nags you for notifications, pushes upsells, and its data meter was 20 MB off.

The Yesim app runs on iOS and Android and does the same job as the website: buy plans, install the eSIM, watch your data and top up. It holds 4.6 out of 5 on the App Store from 2,100 ratings and 4.7 on Google Play from 25.4k ratings. The website comes in 44 languages, including Czech and Polish [1].

Yesim app onboarding: three pop-ups before you start

  1. Notifications. The first screen has one big button, Allow. The only way to decline is a small cross in the top right corner.
  2. "How did you hear about Yesim?" A survey you can skip, but only through small Skip text in the top right.
  3. A "quick tutorial". Mostly an upsell: how to upgrade your eSIM or buy several at once.

None of this breaks anything, but it sets the tone. The app is built to sell more and to keep its notifications switched on, and you have to hunt for the way out each time. It feels a bit sneaky for a tool you will open in a hurry at an airport.

Yesim data usage: trust your phone's meter, not the app

Our 500 MB plan cut off after 506 MB, mid-session, with no warning. Once we were back on Wi-Fi the app claimed 20 MB were still left. Your phone's own data counter is the safer guide.

The cut-off matters because the app needs an internet connection to work. It has no zero-rated traffic (free access to the provider's own app when your data is gone). Once the plan is empty you cannot top up through the eSIM, so you need Wi-Fi or another SIM.

Yesim says it sends a push notification and an email at 70% used [1]. Auto top-up can also rebuy your last plan when less than 30% is left or one day before expiry [2]. Either way, buy the top-up before you run out.

What else the Yesim app does

  • Pay & Fly balance. Pay-as-you-go credit charged per MB used, from $1.10 per GB on average, with the rate set per country [1].
  • Virtual numbers. A separate paid product for receiving SMS on a rented number in the UK, US, Netherlands or Canada, run through the app [12].
  • Ycoins. The loyalty credit you earn or buy and spend on plans. It is not money and cannot be cashed out [2].
  • Several eSIMs on one account. The tutorial keeps pushing this, which tells you how Yesim would like you to use it.

Yesim eSIM installation

eSIM installation

Vefru rating

The eSIM arrived by email and in the account seconds after payment, with install, share and instructions in one place.

Verdict: Smooth. The eSIM reached our inbox and our account seconds after payment, with install, share and instructions in one place.

Installation was the strongest part of our test. Right after the Google Pay confirmation we had an email with the eSIM. The website showed the same eSIM with a share-or-install option that opens the profile and the instructions. The used-data meter sat next to it.

How to install a Yesim eSIM in 5 steps

  1. Check your phone. It needs eSIM capability and must be carrier-unlocked. Yesim adds that the device has to accept the Yesim APN (access point name, the network setting the eSIM uses) [2]. Our list of phones that take an eSIM helps if you are not sure.
  2. Buy the plan. The eSIM profile details appear in your account and go to your email address [2].
  3. Pick an install method. Yesim gives three ways [2]. You can fast-install from the app, scan a QR code with a second device (or the camera where the phone allows it), or type the activation details into your settings. On the same phone, use fast install or send the QR code to another screen [2]. Our guides cover adding an eSIM on an iPhone, adding one on a Samsung and turning an activation code into a QR code.
  4. Switch it on at your destination. Yesim's Thailand page says to install the eSIM before your trip and activate it when you arrive [9]. If your plan started at purchase, the clock is already running, so buy close to departure.
  5. Keep the QR code to yourself. Each QR code works on one device only and cannot be reused once the profile is deleted [1]. Moving to a new phone needs a new profile from support [1].

Yesim eSIM not working? Try this first

  • Plan already used up or expired. Our data stopped the instant the 500 MB were gone, without a warning. Check the plan in the app over Wi-Fi.
  • Locked phone or wrong APN. Yesim's eSIM works only on unlocked devices that can use its APN [2].
  • Line or network settings. Make sure the Yesim eSIM is the line selected for mobile data; our eSIM troubleshooting guide walks through the checks in order.
  • Still stuck? Open the chat. Expect a pre-written troubleshooting guide first; in our test it arrived after 10 minutes, and a human reply took far longer.

Yesim customer support

Customer support

Vefru rating

Replies took 15 to 60 minutes and were mostly pre-written templates. The slowest support we have tested.

Verdict: The slowest support we have tested: 15 to 60 minute waits and mostly pre-written replies, even at 8:20 in the morning, Swiss time.

How to contact Yesim support

  • Live chat in the app and on the website, 24/7 according to Yesim, which claims an average response time of 5 minutes [1].
  • Email at [email protected], which is also the address for refund requests [2].
  • No phone line, no WhatsApp and no Telegram handle that we could find.

We tested the chat twice. The first time was before buying, to ask why a plan had disappeared. The second was after installing, to see how long a person would take to help.

The chat said replies come within an hour. If we had been a real customer with a trip to catch, we would have gone elsewhere after the first wait.

Our Yesim support test, minute by minute

  1. 08:20 Swiss time, before buying. We asked why the 500 MB plan we had seen while logged out was gone. After a wait, a bot with pre-selected answers appeared.
  2. After 15 minutes. An agent (John) sent a pre-written message asking for our IDs, email addresses and card digits, none of which related to the question.
  3. Another 20 minutes. Still nothing written for us, from a Swiss company during Swiss office hours.
  4. After more than 30 minutes in total. A robotic reply: the plan was a promotional price and did not apply because we had bought from Yesim before.
  5. Second chat, after installing. Ten minutes to a pre-written eSIM troubleshooting guide.
  6. Follow-up question. More than 20 minutes with no reply; 45 minutes into the conversation we still had nothing but the template.
  7. One hour after we finished testing. An answer to our last question finally arrived.

It never felt like a chat. Each reply took minutes or longer, like a ticket queue going to your email. The answers were templates, and the one that mattered (the promotional plan) was true but something the website should have said in the first place.

For comparison, eSIM4Travel, Airalo and Holafly all answered us far faster, with a person visibly trying to help. Our ranking of the best eSIM customer support shows how far apart the providers are. Many Trustpilot reviewers praise Yesim's support for quick fixes, so your experience may differ, but we can only score what we saw.

Yesim refunds: the rules to know before you ask

  • 30 days, unused only. A refund needs a request within 30 calendar days and a plan that was never installed, started or connected [2].
  • Small refunds come as Ycoins. Refunds of €10 or less go to your Ycoins balance, not your card, and anything bought with Ycoins is refunded in Ycoins [2].
  • App malfunctions: report within 1 hour. After the 30 days, only a confirmed technical malfunction reported within 1 hour of happening, by email or through the in-app contact form, can qualify [2].
  • Yesim reviews a request within 15 business days, and refunds go back to the original payment method where the rules above allow [2].

Yesim speed test

Speed test

Vefru rating

135 Mbps download and 90 Mbps upload on our Android phone, enough for streaming and video calls.

Verdict: Fast. 135 Mbps down and 90 Mbps up on our Android phone, plenty for streaming, maps and video calls.

We ran the speed test from our base, not at a holiday destination. It shows what the eSIM can do on a good network, not what you will get on a beach in Thailand. For that, see the traveler reports in the coverage section below.

MeasurementResult
Download135 Mbps
Upload90 Mbps
Plan size bought500 MB
Data used before cut-off506 MB
Warning before cut-offNone, the session dropped mid-use

The speed is enough for anything a traveler does. What to watch is the end of the plan. Yesim cut the connection the moment the allowance was gone, 6 MB over the limit, without finishing the session.

Yesim unlimited data: is there a speed limit?

Yesim says it does not enforce a fair usage policy of its own on unlimited plans. Partner networks may apply theirs and slow the connection after their own high-speed allowance until the daily or monthly cycle resets [11]. Yesim's country pages add that your speed will not always be at its maximum [7].

No threshold in GB and no reduced speed are published anywhere. The terms separately let Yesim restrict or withdraw service for excessive volume, duration or frequency of use [2]. That makes Yesim's unlimited plans a leap of faith compared with rivals that print their limits. Customers on Trustpilot report slowdowns to around 5 Mbps or less after a cap nobody mentioned at purchase.

Yesim's homepage promises SwitchLess Networks that pick the fastest local network, with 5G where available, across 800+ partner networks [1]. Whether you get 5G rather than 4G depends on the operator and your phone.

Yesim prices

Prices

Vefru rating

Unlimited plans at market rates and good regional bundles, but single-country fixed plans cost more than most rivals.

Verdict: Fair for unlimited plans and regional bundles, dear for fixed data in a single country.

Yesim is mainly an unlimited provider: 72% of its plans are unlimited, sold by the day from 1 to 30 days, at the market median. Its fixed-data plans are a different story. In our like-for-like comparison they cost about 14% more than the median for the same country, data amount and trip length. That ranks Yesim 9th of 12 fixed-data providers, with 1 the cheapest.

Prices on the site show in US dollars by default, and Ycoins can be held in euros, dollars or pounds [1]. In our test the checkout showed euros, which is also the currency of the terms. Most plans carry a struck-through original price next to a discount of 19 to 71% [7] [8] [9]. Compare the final price with other providers rather than the label.

Yesim plan types and typical prices

  • Fixed-data country plans. 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 30 GB, all valid 30 days; 1 GB is sold in 184 countries and 10 GB in 174. There are very few 50 GB plans.
  • Unlimited country plans. Any number of days from 1 to 30 in most countries, flagged as throttled without a stated limit. Median $5.75 for 1 day, $12.08 for 3, about $28.00 for 7, $44.85 for 15 and $65.55 for 30.
  • Pay & Fly. Pay-as-you-go credit charged per MB, from $1.10 per GB on average; the rate varies by country and is shown in the app [1].
  • Regional and global bundles. Our database holds 102 Yesim multi-country plans, from an 11-country Balkans bundle to two global plans covering 83 and 147 countries. They are better value than its country plans: Europe about 15% below the median, global 14% below, Asia 8% below.
  • Unlim Day Pass and cruise eSIM. A pack of unlimited 24-hour days, and a cruise plan [1]. Yesim's cruise page says the cruise eSIM works in ports and coastal zones, with no guarantee at sea.
  • Trial eSIM. Yesim's trial page sells a one-day trial for first-time users, a cheap way to check that the install works on your phone before a real trip. Our list of free eSIM plans and trials has the alternatives.

Yesim price per GB: median fixed plan across all countries

The table shows the median price of each Yesim fixed-data size across every country where it is sold, from our price database as of 2 Oct 2026. Yesim prices in euros; our database converts at 1.15 US dollars per euro. The 3 GB plan costs more than the 5 GB plan at the median because 3 GB is sold mainly in dearer countries.

Plan (30 days)Countries sold inMedian pricePrice per GB
1 GB184$5.40$5.40
3 GB113$17.25$5.75
5 GB169$16.10$3.22
10 GB174$24.15$2.42
20 GB113$25.30$1.27
30 GB89$32.20$1.07

The ladder rewards going big. Moving from 1 GB to 3 GB costs 2.5 times as much, while 20 GB to 30 GB adds only $6.90, about $0.69 per extra GB. That is why 20 GB is the one fixed size where Yesim matches the market, and why a 10 GB plan sits 18% above it. If you are not sure what you need, our guide to how much data a trip takes and the travel data calculator give you a number.

Here is what Yesim's own country pages showed on 7 Oct 2026 for 30-day fixed plans and the cheapest unlimited day, in US dollars [7] [8] [9]. Multi-day unlimited prices for a single country are shown only in the app.

For a multi-country trip, the Europe & UK bundle covers 33 countries. Unlimited data costs $3.60 for 1 day, $25.20 for 7, $39.60 for 15 and $67.20 for 30 [10]. Fixed plans run from 1 GB at $3.00 to 30 GB at $33.60, all valid 30 days [10]. Per GB that drops from $3.00 to just over a dollar, cheaper than most of Yesim's single-country plans.

Where Yesim is cheap and where it is expensive

  • Cheapest in Morocco and third cheapest in Egypt. Its fixed plans are also well below the median in Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Tajikistan, Fiji and El Salvador.
  • Among the two dearest in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Türkiye (Turkey), Japan, South Korea, Thailand and Brazil: 11 of the 24 most popular destinations. It is the most expensive provider in the majority of comparisons in 29 countries, including Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Bulgaria.
  • Extreme outliers. Tonga is the worst case: 3 GB for $194.35 where others charge $13 to $52. Ethiopia, Saint Barthélemy, Martinique and Greenland are also three to four times the median.
  • Unlimited plans sit at the median, and do best at 30 days (7% below). A 30-day unlimited plan costs twice its 30 GB plan, so it pays off only if you use more than about 56 GB.
  • By continent, its fixed plans are closest to market in Asia (4% above) and furthest from it in North America (24% above) and Oceania (33% above).
  • Exchange-rate caveat. Yesim prices in euros, and our comparison converts at 1.15 US dollars per euro. At a 1:1 rate its fixed index would be only 2% above the median, so the gap shrinks when the euro is weak.

Against the big names: Airalo's fixed plans sit about 6% above the median, Yesim's about 14%. For unlimited data the three are close, with Yesim at the median, Airalo 1% above and Holafly 9% above. The cheapest providers overall, eSIM4Travel and Global YO, are about a third below the median, so for a single-country fixed plan Yesim is rarely the best buy.

Our cheapest eSIM comparison and our list of the cheapest countries for eSIM data show who wins where. You can also check Yesim's Thailand plans or its Spain plans against the field in our comparison tool.

Yesim customer feedback

Customer feedback

Vefru rating

Strong app store ratings and a good Trustpilot score; complaints center on throttled unlimited plans and template-driven support.

Verdict: Customers rate Yesim well: 4.3 on Trustpilot and 4.6 to 4.7 in the app stores. The complaints that repeat are throttled unlimited plans and support that leans on templates.

Yesim holds 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 2,963 reviews, 4.6 on the App Store from 2,100 ratings and 4.7 on Google Play from 25.4k ratings. That earns an 8.6, Yesim's highest category score. Yesim's own homepage quotes a 4.7 rating from 60K+ ratings and 4M+ users, without naming the source [1].

Three themes run through the praise. Setup takes a few minutes and the eSIM connects on landing. Support fixes mistakes like a plan started a day early within minutes. Prices sit well below roaming, with one eSIM for many countries.

The complaints are the mirror image. Unlimited plans slow to around 5 Mbps or less after a fair-use limit nobody saw at purchase. In some countries the eSIM never connects or sticks on slow LTE or 3G. When things go wrong, reviewers say support asks for screenshot after screenshot, blames partner networks and sometimes refunds only in Ycoins.

Two of those complaints match our findings: the fair-use rules are unpublished, and refunds of €10 or less come as Ycoins under the terms [2]. The praise for fast support is the one point where reviewers and our test disagree. Read the box below as the customers' view and the support section above as ours. Our analysis of customer reviews across the top providers puts these themes side by side.

Setup takes a few minutes and the eSIM usually connects as soon as you land
Support replies within minutes, around the clock, and quickly fixes mistakes like a plan activated too early
Prices are lower than roaming, and one eSIM works across many countries with a stable connection

Often criticized

Unlimited plans are often slowed to around 5 Mbps or less after a fair usage limit that is not stated at purchase
In some countries the eSIM does not connect, keeps dropping or stays on slow LTE or 3G
When something goes wrong, support asks for repeated screenshots, blames local partner networks and sometimes refunds only in Ycoins credit

Activation

Good value, easy to install, worked from the moment airplane mode was turned off following arrival in Egypt.

Riddler Trustpilot
Unlimited data

Very disappointing experience. The "unlimited" plan is not actually unlimited, and once you hit their cap the internet becomes so slow it's virtually unusable. They suggested upgrading to a paid plan, but somehow we supposedly used 30GB in just a day and a half, despite only using around 40GB over the previous 10+ days on the unlimited plan. We were then told to buy more data. Their AI support bot is frustrating and unhelpful, and by the time a real person responded, we'd already left the country, so there was nothing they could do. Overall, a complete waste of money. I would not recommend this company and would never use them again.

Vefru rating

Worked in 82% of traveler reports across 98 countries: strong in Türkiye, Spain and Italy, weak in Thailand, Mexico and the UK.

Verdict: Worked in 82% of traveler reports, a little under the market average, with clear strong and weak countries.

Yesim says one eSIM covers 200+ destinations [1], and our price database holds Yesim plans for 187 countries. Whether it works there is a different question, so we use traveler reports: did the eSIM work in a country, yes or no.

Yesim has 622 country-level reports across 98 countries, and 512 of them (82%) say it worked, against a market average of 85%. Adjusted for where Yesim's users travel, it had 8% fewer failures than the other providers would have had in the same places. That puts it 7th of 14.

  • Strongest: worked in Türkiye in 69 of 74 reports (93%), the only country with a large, consistent sample. China (17 of 18), Spain (16 of 17), Italy (14 of 15) and Cuba (11 of 11) follow.
  • Mixed: Egypt 45 of 57 (79%), the United States 27 of 31 (87%), the UAE 22 of 26 (85%), France 13 of 16 (81%) and Germany 8 of 10 (80%). Carry a backup.
  • Weak: Thailand 28 of 37 (76%) against a 90% market average, Japan 9 of 12 (75%), Mexico 3 of 8 (38%) and the United Kingdom 3 of 6 (50%). Pick another provider there.
  • Multi-country trips: all 30 reports tagged Europe say it worked, and so do all 12 tagged Balkans.

Yesim terms and conditions

Verdict: Terms that mostly favor Yesim, with tight refund rules and an inactivity clause, but no arbitration and your home consumer rules still apply.

Yesim's eSIMs are data only: no voice calls, SMS or MMS, and no emergency calls, so keep a regular phone line for 112 or 911 [2]. You must be 18 or older to buy, and Yesim can ask for identity documents at its discretion [2]. The contract is with Genesis Group AG in Baar, Switzerland, under Swiss law [2].

We read the Terms of Service effective 15 Jun 2026 and the privacy policy of 26 Jun 2026 [2] [3]. The box below sorts the clauses that can cost you money, the ones to know about, and the ones on your side.

Frequently Asked Questions About Yesim

Is Yesim a reliable eSIM provider?
Yesim scored 6.7 out of 10 in our hands-on test, and it worked in 82% of traveler reports across 98 countries. It is reliable in Türkiye, Spain, Italy and China, mixed in Egypt, the US and the UAE, and weak in Thailand, Mexico and the UK. The main risk is support: replies took 15 to 60 minutes in our test, so settle any question well before you fly. Compare it with other providers in (eSIM Comparison).
Does Yesim have unlimited data, and is it throttled?
Yes, most countries have unlimited plans sold by the day, from 1 to 30 days. Yesim says it applies no fair-use limit of its own, but partner networks may slow you down after their own daily allowance, and no threshold or reduced speed is published. Customers report speeds of around 5 Mbps or less once that limit is hit. Work out how much data you really need with (Travel Data Calculator).
When does a Yesim data plan start?
It depends on the plan, and in our test the plan was active the moment we paid. Yesim's help center says a plan can start at purchase, at installation or on first network connection, and the homepage FAQ has an Activate later option that keeps the plan for 12 months. Country pages give 180 days to activate, or 90 days for Japan. Buy as close to your departure as you can.
Does a Yesim eSIM come with a phone number?
No. Yesim eSIMs are data only, with no calls, SMS or emergency calls, so Yesim's own FAQ points you to WhatsApp, Messenger or Viber. Yesim sells virtual numbers as a separate product in the app, from $3.30 per month, for receiving SMS codes in the UK, US, Netherlands and Canada.
How do I contact Yesim customer support, and how fast is it?
Through the 24/7 live chat in the app or on the website, or by email at [email protected]; there is no phone line. Yesim claims an average response time of 5 minutes. In our test a bot answered first, an agent sent a template after 15 minutes, and a real answer took 30 minutes to an hour, so ask well before you travel.
Can I get a refund from Yesim?
Only for a plan you have not installed or started, and only within 30 days of purchase. Refunds of €10 or less are paid in Ycoins credit rather than to your card, and purchases made with Ycoins are refunded in Ycoins. After 30 days, a refund is possible only for a confirmed app malfunction reported within 1 hour, with screenshots. Yesim reviews requests within 15 business days.
Is Yesim cheaper than Airalo or Holafly?
Not for fixed data: Yesim's single-country plans cost about 14% more than the market median, against about 6% more for Airalo, and Yesim is among the two dearest providers in 11 of 24 popular destinations. For unlimited plans the three are close: Yesim sits at the market median, Airalo 1% above and Holafly about 9% above. Yesim's regional and global bundles are its best value. Yesim review: summary and verdict

Verdict: 6.7 out of 10. Yesim suits experienced eSIM users who watch their data and do not expect to need support.

Yesim does the core job well. The eSIM arrived seconds after payment, installed without fuss and ran at 135 Mbps down and 90 Mbps up. Unlimited plans by the day, pay-as-you-go credit, regional bundles and a long list of payment methods give it more flexibility than most rivals. The website comes in 44 languages.

What drags the score down is everything around the plan. Support took 15 to 60 minutes per reply and sent templates, the worst showing of any provider we have tested. The purchase flow lost us after a Google Pay redirect, and a promo plan vanished without a word.

The sign-in form signs you up for marketing with no opt-out, and the app pushes notifications and upsells at every turn. Fixed-data plans for a single country cost about 14% more than the market median. And when your data runs out, it stops dead, with an app that cannot top up without another connection.

Buy Yesim if

  • You know eSIMs already and can troubleshoot without waiting for support.
  • You want unlimited data by the day, for any length from 1 to 30 days, at market price.
  • You are heading to Türkiye, Spain, Italy or China, where traveler reports are strong.
  • You want pay-as-you-go credit charged per MB, or a regional or global bundle, where Yesim is better value than its country plans.
  • You pay with PayPal, Klarna, iDEAL or crypto, which many rivals do not take.

Look elsewhere if

  • You may need help fast. Replies took 15 to 60 minutes in our test, and eSIM4Travel, Airalo and Holafly all answered far faster.
  • You want a fixed-data plan for one country in the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan or Thailand, where Yesim is among the dearest.
  • You are going to Thailand, Mexico, the UK or Japan, where travelers report failures more often than with other providers.
  • You hate upsells and marketing emails you cannot opt out of at sign-up.
  • You tend to run out of data. The cut-off is instant and the app needs internet to top up.

Our Yesim review verdict, then: a capable eSIM with fast data and flexible plans, let down by its support and by pushy sales tactics. If that trade-off works for you, buy as close to your trip as you can and do not count on a quick answer from support. If not, our page of tested and compared eSIM providers shows who does better at a similar price. Or compare every plan for your destination in our tool.

Yesim plans and prices

Verdict: Yesim's best value is in unlimited day plans and regional bundles; check its single-country fixed plans against rivals before you buy.

Pick your destination, or several at once, and the finder lists every Yesim plan for it with live prices from our database. Fixed plans run 30 days and unlimited plans are priced per day, so set the trip length to see the real cost. For a two-country trip, try Yesim's plans for Spain and Portugal together, two countries where it is usually among the dearest. Our guides to the best eSIM for Spain and the best eSIM for Portugal name the alternatives.
