eSIM4Travel Review: The Cheapest and Top-Rated eSIM We Tested

eSIM4Travel is a US eSIM seller with no app and the lowest prices in our database: plans for 158 destinations, the cheapest offer in about half of our like-for-like checks, and a human support agent one click away. The missing app locks you out of top-ups once your data runs out.

eSIM4Travel eSIM in our hands

Speed test result from our eSIM4Travel test
We bought, installed and tested the eSIM4Travel eSIM ourselves, on a Switzerland plan running on the Salt and Sunrise networks.

This eSIM4Travel review is based on a plan we bought with our own money. We installed it on our own Android phone and used it until the data ran out. eSIM4Travel is a brand of FreshQ Inc. in Silicon Valley, California, and it sells prepaid travel data eSIMs through its website, with no app [4]. It scored 8.8 out of 10 in our test, the highest Vefru test score of the 14 providers in our ratings.

Three things decide that score. eSIM4Travel was the cheapest provider in our price database, with the cheapest plan in 49% of like-for-like comparisons as of 2 Oct 2026. Its chat support put us through to a helpful human after one short exchange with a bot. The missing app is the main trade-off: once your data runs out, you cannot reach the store to top up.

Below you will find how to buy and install the eSIM, how to get help and what plans cost in general. We also show where travelers report it working and what the terms say. Every score comes from the same checks we run on every provider.

eSIM4Travel purchase process

Purchase process

Vefru rating

Four simple steps on a website in 41 languages. Points lost for typing card details by hand and no quick sign-in in our test.

Verdict: A simple four-step checkout on a website in 41 languages, but you type your card details by hand, there was no quick sign-in in our test, and prices are in US dollars only.

There is no app, so you buy on esim4travel.com. The site is translated into 41 languages, including Czech and Polish [4]. If you have never bought an eSIM before, our guide to buying and installing your first eSIM walks through the basics.

How to buy an eSIM4Travel eSIM

  1. Pick your plan. Open the destination page and choose the data amount and number of days. Several countries list two network options, for example the USA on AT&T or T-Mobile [6] and Japan on SoftBank or KDDI [5].
  2. Register. The terms ask for your first name, last name, phone number and email [1]. In our test we then confirmed our email address before we could pay.
  3. Pay. The terms say card or PayPal, in US dollars [1]. The footer lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, UnionPay, PayPal and Apple Pay [4].
  4. Get your eSIM. A "Payment Successful" page shows the order number, and the QR code is stored in your account and emailed to your registered address [1].

What slowed us down at the eSIM4Travel checkout

  • No quick sign-in in our test. We could not log in with Google or another service, so creating the account took a few extra steps. When we checked the site on 7 Oct 2026, the login page showed a Google sign-in button above the email and password fields.
  • No Apple Pay or Google Pay in our test. We typed our card details by hand. Apple Pay appears in the footer but not in the terms, which name only card and PayPal [1]. eSIMDB's setup guide reports that the Apple Pay button shows only in Safari.
  • US dollars only. There is no currency selector, and taxes are not mentioned anywhere on the site, so it is unclear whether the displayed price is final [1].

eSIM4Travel mobile app

Verdict: There is no eSIM4Travel app. The website does the job well, but without an app you lose the store the moment your data runs out.

Does eSIM4Travel have an app?

No. eSIM4Travel has no iOS or Android app, so we could not test one and did not rate this category. The overall score is the average of the other seven. The terms mention "eSIM4Travel's App", but no App Store or Google Play link appears anywhere on the site [1].

The website covers what an app usually does. The homepage says you can buy several eSIMs at once and share them, and check and top up your data on the go. Your QR code is stored under My eSIM in your account [4].

  • Buy and top up from any browser, on your phone or a laptop.
  • See the QR code under My eSIM right after payment.
  • Check data use in your account instead of in an app.

The practical downside showed up at the end of our test. The data stopped exactly when the allowance ran out, and with no app we could not reach the store to top up or buy another eSIM. Top-ups exist, but you need Wi-Fi or another connection to buy one. Some providers with apps have the same problem.

eSIM4Travel eSIM installation

eSIM installation

Vefru rating

QR code from the website, data roaming on, and it worked right away without a restart. No app wizard to guide you.

Verdict: Scan the QR code from your account, switch on data roaming, and the eSIM works right away with no restart or extra steps.

Right after paying, the eSIM appeared in our account on the website. We took a screenshot of the QR code and used it during setup. The eSIM connected as soon as it was installed.

How to install an eSIM4Travel eSIM

  1. Open My eSIM on the website and take a screenshot of the QR code, or use the copy emailed to you [1]. The homepage recommends installing before departure [4].
  2. Add the eSIM in your phone settings by scanning the QR code. Our guides for adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung show the exact menus.
  3. Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line, even if the eSIM is for the country you are already in. This applies to every eSIM provider, not just eSIM4Travel.
  4. Start using data. Validity starts as soon as the eSIM connects to a partner network at the destination, and you must activate within 90 days of purchase [5].

Each eSIM works on one device only [5]. If you break or replace your phone, contact support: one Trustpilot reviewer got a free replacement eSIM for a new phone.

eSIM4Travel eSIM not working? Try this first

  • Check data roaming. It must be on for the eSIM4Travel line. This is the most common cause of "no data" on any travel eSIM.
  • Switch network. Many plans run on two local networks, named in the plan title, for example "France (Orange, Bouygues)". Our support agent reminded us that you can switch by hand if one has poor signal; our guide on eSIMs with several networks explains how.
  • Toggle airplane mode. Several Trustpilot reviewers got their data back this way.
  • Check your phone. It must be eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked [10].
  • Still stuck? Open the 24/7 chat. Our general eSIM troubleshooting guide covers the other usual fixes.

Which phones work with eSIM4Travel?

The compatibility page lists 37 Apple models from the iPhone XR onward plus iPads, 68 Samsung, 36 Google Pixel, 56 Motorola, 33 Xiaomi, 24 HONOR and 20 OPPO models, among others [10]. Tablets must be Wi-Fi + Cellular models. Dial *#06# to see whether your phone shows an EID, the sign of an eSIM chip [10].

Some models are excluded [10]: iPhones bought in mainland China or Hong Kong (with exceptions), and some Hong Kong, Korean and US Samsung models. Pixel 3 units from Australia, Japan and Taiwan, all Hong Kong Pixels, and the Huawei P40 Pro+ and P50 Pro are out too. If your phone is not on the list, see our overview of phones with eSIM support. An incompatible or locked phone qualifies for a full refund [2].

eSIM4Travel customer support

Customer support

Vefru rating

Short chatbot step, one click to a human, and an agent who solved the issue and added a tip on switching networks.

Verdict: The best support experience in our tests: a short chatbot step, one click to a human, and a courteous agent who solved the issue and added a useful tip.

eSIM4Travel promises 24/7 live support through online chat [4]. We contact support as part of every test, and this is how it went.

How to reach a real person at eSIM4Travel

  1. Open the chat on the website. There is no app, so the chat lives on the site [4].
  2. Answer the AI chatbot briefly. The bot handles only the first exchange.
  3. Click to talk to a support agent. A real person joined right after, with no queue and no repeated questions.
  4. Get the fix and a tip. After solving our issue, the agent reminded us that we could switch to the other local network if the signal was poor. Our Swiss plan ran on both Salt and Sunrise, two of Switzerland's biggest operators, and we tried both.

The tone was pleasant and businesslike. We did not feel we were bothering anyone, and the agent was not overly casual either. Holafly's agents sometimes try a bit too hard to be friendly (see our Holafly review); eSIM4Travel struck a more balanced, respectful note. That earned a 10, and you can see how it ranks against the field in our round-up of the best eSIM customer support.

eSIM4Travel support channels

  • Live chat, 24/7, from the website [4].
  • Email: [email protected], named in the footer and in the refund policy [2]. The terms give [email protected] for "any request" [1].
  • Contact form on the website. We found no phone number and no WhatsApp line.
  • Help Center: the terms and the refund policy point you to it [1] [2]. When we checked on 7 Oct 2026, every Help Center link was a placeholder. The only FAQs are short blocks on the homepage and the plan pages.

Customers on Trustpilot tell a similar story. Support answering within minutes on chat and readily giving refunds or free replacement eSIMs is the most praised point in the reviews we read.

eSIM4Travel speed test

Speed test

Vefru rating

Full 4G speed with no throttling, and an upload speed higher than most eSIMs we have tested.

Verdict: No throttling: the eSIM used the full 4G speed available, with 116 Mbps down and an unusually high 89.5 Mbps up.

We ran our usual speed test on the plan we bought. eSIM4Travel does not limit or throttle fixed-data plans, so the result reflects the local network rather than the provider.

MeasurementResult
Download116 Mbps
Upload89.5 Mbps
Network type4G
Networks testedSalt and Sunrise (Switzerland)
Throttling on the fixed-data planNone

The connection was more symmetric than most. An upload of nearly 90 Mbps is higher than many other eSIM providers manage. That helps if you stream live video or upload content on the road. We tested both networks on the plan and saw a slight difference in the download-to-upload ratio, but both delivered full 4G speed, enough for nearly everyone.

The data stopped exactly when the allowance ran out, with no grace period. Plan pages list 5G/4G/LTE networks and say speed and signal may vary by location [5]. Our test ran on 4G; our 4G vs 5G explainer says what the difference means for a trip. If Switzerland is your destination, our Switzerland eSIM guide compares the providers there.

Does eSIM4Travel throttle speeds?

  • Fixed-data plans: no throttling in our test, and no speed cap stated on the plan pages.
  • Unlimited plans: 3 GB of high-speed data per day, then "up to 1 Mbps" [5]. Expect a slow connection for the rest of that day.
  • Daily plans: speed drops to 128 kbps once the day's data is used. A day runs 24 hours from activation, for example 9 AM to 9 AM [5].
  • In the terms: nothing. The terms contain no fair-use or speed clause at all, only a rule not to impair the network [1]. On Trustpilot the company answered a complaint about the daily cap by citing a "Fair Usage Policy", which we could not find on the site.

eSIM4Travel prices

Prices

Vefru rating

The cheapest provider in our database for most plan sizes and regions. The edge fades at 50 GB and in the Americas.

Verdict: The cheapest provider in our database, about a third below the typical competitor for the same country, data amount and trip length; the edge fades at 50 GB, in the Americas and on 30-day unlimited plans.

Prices are where eSIM4Travel shines. In most countries it is several times cheaper than the best-known competition, Airalo included; our Airalo vs eSIM4Travel comparison sets the two side by side. Every price is in US dollars [1]. The figures below come from our price database as of 2 Oct 2026 unless a plan page is cited.

What eSIM4Travel plans cost: median price by size

eSIM4Travel sells day passes of 100 MB, 500 MB and 1 GB, a 1 GB plan for 7 days, and 3 to 50 GB plans for 30 days. Across all countries, the median single-country fixed plan costs $6.08, or $1.62 per GB. For the same country, data amount and trip length, eSIM4Travel costs about a third less than the typical competitor. Only Global YO is as cheap; GoMoWorld is the next closest at 13% below market.

Plan sizeValidityMedian price
1 GB1 or 7 days$1.98
3 GB30 days$5.56
5 GB30 days$7.40
10 GB30 days$11.89
20 GB30 days$18.43
50 GB30 days$44.73

The ladder gets steep at the top, which is the one place eSIM4Travel loses its lead:

  • 1 GB for 7 days costs only 6% more than 1 GB for 1 day, so the weekly plan is almost always the better buy.
  • 3 to 5 GB costs 1.6 times as much (+$2.64); 5 to 10 GB 1.9 times (+$5.23); 10 to 20 GB 1.9 times (+$8.35).
  • 20 to 50 GB costs 2.7 times as much (+$25.75) for 2.5 times the data. Above 10 GB there is almost no volume discount, about $0.90 per GB at both 20 and 50 GB.

Not sure which size you need? Our guide on how much data you need for a trip and the travel data calculator give you a number based on your own habits.

How much does eSIM4Travel cost per GB in popular countries?

The homepage store shows a "from" price per GB for every destination. These were the figures on 7 Oct 2026, from the cheapest to the dearest we saw [4].

DestinationPrice per GB, from
Best Europe 41 (regional bundle)$0.69
Italy$0.94
Thailand$1.16
United Kingdom$1.43
Iran$8.44
Cuba$17.69
Monaco$18.93
Suriname$26.00
Greenland$27.93

The pattern matches our database: Europe and Asia are very cheap, small islands and remote markets are not. Slovakia and Madagascar showed no price at all when we checked. Our list of the cheapest countries for eSIM data shows where every provider is cheap.

eSIM4Travel prices for the USA, Japan, Europe and the world

Four plan pages show the full price ladder, as displayed on 7 Oct 2026. The USA plan runs on AT&T and T-Mobile [6] and the Japan plan on SoftBank and KDDI [5]. The other two columns come from the Best Europe 41 page [7] and the Global 72 page [8].

10 GB, 30 days$8.40$9.44$8.81$22.31
20 GB, 30 days$17.00$18.28$16.70$44.23
50 GB, 30 days$66.40$50.35$45.37not listed
Unlimited, 3 days$9.22$8.55$8.02not listed

Two things stand out. The USA 50 GB plan ($66.40) costs more than the Europe bundle's 50 GB ($45.37), which fits the weaker position in the Americas. And the Global 72 page was not linked from the homepage when we checked; we found it by its URL, and it has no unlimited option.

The China page lists 10 GB for 30 days at $8.49 and 3 days of unlimited data at $7.70. It says Google and WhatsApp work without a VPN [9].

Regional bundles are a strong point too. Best Europe 41 covers 41 countries from Albania to the United Kingdom, including Switzerland, Türkiye and Ukraine [7]. eSIM4Travel's Europe and Asia bundles are the cheapest regional plans in our database. We also found bundles for Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, South-East Asia, and Australia with New Zealand.

Is eSIM4Travel unlimited data worth it?

Rarely, because the fixed plans are so cheap. Unlimited plans give 3 GB a day at high speed, then up to 1 Mbps [5]. Our database holds eSIM4Travel unlimited plans for 99 countries, from 3 to 30 days.

  • Median prices: $8.75 for 3 days, $18.75 for 7 days, $37.07 for 15 days and $63.00 for 30 days.
  • Against the competition: the cheapest unlimited option in 60% of comparisons, but the lead shrinks with length and is gone at 30 days.
  • Against its own fixed plans: a 30-day unlimited plan costs 8.3 times the 10 GB plan and pays off only above roughly 87 GB a month.

eSIM4Travel discounts and promotions

  • 12% off all eSIMs during "Cherry Blossom Season", a homepage banner still live in October with no dates shown [4].
  • Free eSIM when traveling with China Airlines, per another homepage banner [4].
  • No loyalty scheme or referral credits for customers that we could find; the only referral program is the affiliate one for partners.

Our cheapest eSIM comparison sets these prices against every other provider we have tested.

How eSIM4Travel compares on 10 GB, 30-day plans

All providers ranked by median price per GB for 10 GB, 30-day plans, the same basket in every Vefru provider review. It is the size where volume discounts start to matter, and 10 GB is the last size where eSIM4Travel still has a clear lead.

eSIM4Travel customer feedback

Customer feedback

Vefru rating

A good Trustpilot rating from a small number of reviews. Praise for support and prices, complaints about dropouts and patchy coverage.

Verdict: 4.4 on Trustpilot from 202 reviews: support and prices get the praise, dropouts and patchy coverage outside big cities get the complaints.

eSIM4Travel has a small review base. Its 202 Trustpilot reviews compare with 45,721 for Airalo and 113,513 for Holafly, so a few bad trips move its rating more than theirs. There are no app store ratings because there is no app, and the website itself shows no ratings, review counts or customer numbers. Trustpilot shows 62 reviews in the last 12 months and says the company replied to 83% of negative reviews.

The themes in those reviews match our own test. Fast human support and very low prices are the plus side. Slow or dropping connections and patchy coverage outside big cities and in mountains are the minus side. Several reviewers also say data ran out faster than expected, and that unlimited plans slow down after 3 GB a day.

The box below sums up what the reviews say, with four typical reviews quoted in the customers' own words. For a wider picture, see our analysis of customer reviews across the main eSIM providers.

Support

I had an issue connecting in France and was able to contact customer service promptly via chat. They sent me a new eSIM at no charge that worked perfectly. The customer service representative even checked back to see if everything was okay after they saw that the new eSIM was using some data. Fantastic product and helpful customer service.

Connection

Bought 2 esim for Malaysia (1 for Android & 1 for IPhone). Supposed to roam using Digi. Most of the time not connected to the network or no internet access . You have to switch on and off airplane mode and play with the APN name to hope getting the connection back. At Last a nightmare. May be it works for other countries but defenetly not for Malaysia. Would not recommend. Waste of money and time.

Price

They offer extremely cheap e-sims, I have used their service on all three of my trips to the U.S. and never had any problems. This trip I broke my phone, and since the e-sim could only be installed on 1 device they gave me a new one free of charge for my replacement phone.

eSIM4Travel coverage

Coverage

Vefru rating

Travelers report it working in 87% of cases, with fewer failures than the market in the same countries, but the sample is small.

Verdict: 104 of 119 traveler reports (87%) say the eSIM worked, with about 21% fewer failures than other providers in the same countries, but it is the smallest sample of the 14 providers we track.

eSIM4Travel says it covers "160+ countries and regions" [4]. In the homepage store we counted 158 single-country destinations, plus regional bundles that add places with no single-country plan, for example Morocco, Costa Rica and Ghana. We found no plan for Lebanon, Myanmar, Bhutan, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Kosovo, Vanuatu or Papua New Guinea, among others. Several countries have two network options, for example the USA on AT&T or T-Mobile [6].

Traveler reports, as of 1 Oct 2026, show where the eSIM worked. Adjusted for where people used it, eSIM4Travel ranks 4th of 14 providers for failures, behind Holafly, Maya Mobile and Roamless.

  • Reliable: Canada (10 of 10 reports), Albania (7 of 7), Switzerland (6 of 6) and France (5 of 5). Western Europe as a whole scored 21 of 21.
  • Mixed, take a backup: the United States (12 of 15, 80%) and Türkiye (7 of 8). In the US, Roamless, Maya Mobile and Nomad score higher in traveler reports.
  • Weak: Bosnia and Herzegovina (3 of 5).
  • No reports yet: Indonesia, Singapore, India, Egypt, Australia and many others. No data is no evidence either way.

The box below shows every eSIM4Travel report by country, with the share that worked and how it compares with other providers in the same place. Treat countries with fewer than five reports as anecdotes.

eSIM4Travel terms and conditions

Verdict: A customer-friendly refund policy wrapped in one-sided terms: full refunds within 2 months if you used under 10% of the data, but broad disclaimers, no governing-law clause, and a refund policy that can be updated without notice.

We read the terms, the refund policy and the privacy policy on 7 Oct 2026. None of the three shows a date or version number. The terms name "eSIM4Travel Inc", while every footer says eSIM4Travel is a brand of FreshQ Inc. in Silicon Valley, California, and no street address appears anywhere on the site [1] [4]. The agreement ends as soon as you receive the eSIM, and activation is your responsibility [1].

  1. Contact support through the chat or at [email protected] with your order number, within 2 months of purchase [2].
  2. Wait for the review. eSIM4Travel checks the order and data use; for connection problems it first tries to fix the issue with you [2].
  3. Get the money back on your original payment method within 5 to 7 days of approval [2]. Plan pages say 5 to 7 business days [5].

Full refunds cover eSIMs you no longer need and incompatible or locked phones. Connection problems caused by eSIM4Travel or by a network outage at your destination get a full or partial refund [2]. There is no refund once more than 10% of the data is used, once the plan has expired, or for data left over at the end. Refunds apply only to plans and top-ups bought on the website [1].

The privacy policy names PayPal as the processor for card payments and unnamed partners and service providers as other recipients of your data [3]. It gives no retention periods, names no law like GDPR or CCPA, and sends privacy questions to [email protected], a different domain from the shop [3]. The terms contain no governing-law, court or arbitration clause at all [1].

Frequently Asked Questions About eSIM4Travel

Is eSIM4Travel a reliable eSIM provider?
Yes. In our hands-on test it scored 8.8 out of 10, the highest of the 14 providers we have tested, with 10 for both prices and customer support and no throttling in the speed test. Travelers report it working in 104 of 119 cases (87%), and customers rate it 4.4 on Trustpilot. The review base is small, so install it at home and test it before you fly. Does eSIM4Travel have an app?
No, eSIM4Travel has no iOS or Android app. You buy, find your QR code and top up on the website under My eSIM, and the site works in 41 languages, including Czech and Polish. The catch is that once your data runs out, you need Wi-Fi or another connection to reach the store for a top-up. If this is your first eSIM, start with (Kody Rabatowe na eSIM | Oszczędzaj Więcej na Danych | Vefru).
How much does eSIM4Travel cost?
Less than almost anyone else. Median prices in our database are $1.98 for 1 GB, $7.40 for 5 GB and $11.89 for 10 GB, and eSIM4Travel had the cheapest plan in 49% of like-for-like comparisons. Homepage prices start at $0.69 per GB for the Best Europe 41 bundle, while small markets like Greenland cost up to $27.93 per GB. See every eSIM4Travel plan for your destination with (eSIM Comparison).
Is eSIM4Travel unlimited data really unlimited?
Not fully. Unlimited plans give 3 GB of high-speed data per day, then speed drops to up to 1 Mbps until the next day. The terms contain no fair-use clause, so the limit appears only on plan pages. Because the fixed plans are so cheap, a 30-day unlimited plan costs 8.3 times the 10 GB plan and pays off only above roughly 87 GB. Work out your real need with (Travel Data Calculator).
Can I top up an eSIM4Travel eSIM?
Yes. Top-ups are available on every plan page, and a new plan bought on top activates on its own when the current one expires. You must do it on the website, because there is no app, so buy before your data runs out or find Wi-Fi first. Refunds cover top-ups bought on the website within 2 months, as long as under 10% of the data is used.
Does eSIM4Travel work in the USA?
Mostly, but it is the weakest big destination in traveler reports: 12 of 15 reports (80%) say it worked, against about 90% for the market. The USA plan runs on AT&T or T-Mobile, with 10 GB for 30 days at $8.40 and 50 GB at $66.40 on 7 Oct 2026. For a safer bet there, Roamless, Maya Mobile and Nomad score higher in reports. Compare US plans with (eSIM Comparison).
What is the eSIM4Travel refund policy?
You get a full refund within 2 months of purchase if you no longer need the eSIM, or if your phone turns out to be incompatible or carrier-locked, as long as under 10% of the data is used and the plan has not expired. Connection problems caused by eSIM4Travel or a network outage get a full or partial refund after support tries to fix them. Money returns to your original payment method within 5 to 7 days.

eSIM4Travel review summary

Verdict: 8.8 out of 10, our highest Vefru test score so far: the lowest prices in our database and the best support we have tested, held back only by the missing app and a small review base.

eSIM4Travel does the two things that matter most for a travel eSIM very well. It is the cheapest provider in our database for 1 to 20 GB, by a wide margin in Europe and Asia. Its chat support puts a helpful human one click away. The eSIM installed in minutes, ran at full 4G speed with no throttling, and travelers report it working in 87% of cases.

The trade-offs are clear. There is no app, so an empty data allowance means no store until you find Wi-Fi. Payments are in US dollars with no Google Pay, plans are data only, and the price edge disappears at 50 GB and in the Americas. The terms are one-sided, but the refund policy is fair.

  • You want the lowest price for 1 to 20 GB, above all in Europe or Asia.

  • You upload or stream live video and want full upload speed.

  • You need 50 GB or more, or a plan in North or South America, where other providers match or beat it.
  • You want an app to top up the moment you run out of data.
  • You need a phone number, calls or SMS; every plan is data only.
  • You want to pay in euros or with Google Pay.
  • Your destination is missing from the store, for example Lebanon, Myanmar or Namibia.
