Based on the reports and our tests, Ubigi is the best option for most Morocco trips, because it has the best record here and its own page names both Maroc Telecom and Orange, with the phone switching to whichever is stronger [10]. It worked well for 54 of 55 travelers who reported from Morocco (98%), strong evidence. The successes read like a tour of the hard places: hiking in the Atlas Mountains, Essaouira, two weeks on 10 GB across 2,200 km of driving, a desert tour where others in the group had no signal, and phones that connected the moment the plane touched the runway or the ferry entered port. Several travelers said the two-network switching is exactly why they chose it.

The misses were about speed and setup rather than dead zones. One unlimited-plan user had a very poor connection from the first gigabyte for 15 days, another reported a horrible connection, and a third found no service in parts of Morocco where a companion's Airalo worked. Two travelers needed an hour or two on landing before the eSIM would connect; in both cases a restart or a manual network selection fixed it. No one had signal at the summit of Toubkal, which no network reaches. A refund request went unanswered, and that matches our test, where our ticket got no reply in 24 hours. One traveler in May 2026 put the strength plainly: "The dual-network support with Maroc Telecom & Orange gave very reliable coverage, even in remote areas near the Sahara Desert."

Ubigi sells Morocco plans of 1 GB (7 days), 3 GB (15 days), 10 GB (7 or 30 days), 25 GB (30 days) and unlimited for 7, 15 or 30 days, plus Africa and World plans that include Morocco. The unlimited plan runs 25 GB at full speed before it slows, data sharing is allowed, and the page flags Morocco as 3G/4G with no 5G [10], although one traveler in April 2026 reported a 5G connection anyway. On price it sits around the market average in Morocco, with cheap 3 GB and 10 GB plans and one of the cheapest 30-day unlimited plans in our comparison. The QR arrives by email, the plan starts on first connection in Morocco, the QR stays valid for six months, and you can buy more data with a zero balance, which only GigSky matched in our test. The drawbacks are the clumsy site and app and the help desk that never replied, as our Ubigi review shows; if you may need a human, Jetpac or eSIM4Travel are the safer picks. Nomad is the pick for travelers who want the most polished app and a price below the Morocco market, and who will not need to talk to anyone. It worked well for 33 of 34 travelers who reported from Morocco (97%), strong evidence. The successes cover the whole country: the Sahara desert in two separate reports, mountain regions on a 10-day unlimited plan, 5G in the mountains, the markets of Marrakech, a week in Morocco on 0.3 GB, and an automatic network switch on the ferry from Spain that two travelers mentioned. Several connected the moment they landed, and one used the hotspot without trouble.

The one counted miss was a traveler in July 2026 who found almost no connection outside the big cities. Three others gave it three stars without calling it a failure: weak downstream for streaming and a hotspot that would not feed a tablet, a connection that was not there at all times, and "fair, variable" reception on a multi-country trip. One traveler who kept an expired Nomad eSIM from France had to guess which profile to enable; delete old ones first. In our test the bot looped on an APN question and offered no route to a human, so a problem on the road is yours to solve. As one traveler wrote in May 2026: "We were surprised when it worked in Sahara Desert."

Nomad runs on Orange in Morocco, the network with the best urban 5G availability but the weakest coverage score in the Opensignal report, which fits the pattern of city success and rural complaint. It sells Morocco plans of 1 GB (7 days), 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB (30 days), and unlimited for 3, 5, 7 or 10 days at 2 GB a day before it slows; the plan must be activated within 60 days or it starts on its own, and the hotspot is allowed [9]. Regional Africa, MENA and Global plans also include Morocco. On price it is among the three cheapest providers in Morocco in our comparison. The purchase goes through the app, the QR also arrives by email, and the home-screen widget shows remaining data. The one weakness is the help desk, documented in our Nomad review. Holafly is the pick for desert camps, the Atlas and long trips where staying connected matters more than speed. It worked well for 61 of 65 travelers who reported from Morocco (94%), strong evidence and the largest sample of any provider here. But in our test Holafly's speed was capped from the start, before any data was used, which is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. The reports back the coverage claim: signal in the desert in at least five accounts, a seven-hour drive through the Atlas, the high-speed train between Tangier and Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and a north-to-south trip with no drop. One traveler spent 25 days in Morocco on 5G most days.

The four misses and the three-star reviews point the same way: slow data, not dead zones. One traveler could not load Google Maps, another had trouble opening web pages and lost service in places, a third called the speed in Marrakech poor, and a multi-year user found the west coast slow and intermittent in July 2026. Two travelers never got a signal at all, one on day one in July 2026 and one with two eSIMs in May 2026, and the help desk could not fix either. A family's hotspot sharing stopped after two days, which fits the hotspot limit of 1 GB a day [8]. Several travelers add that activation needs an internet connection, so install at home or use the airport Wi-Fi, and that data roaming must be switched on. One traveler summed up a long stay in May 2026: "25 days in Morocco, 5G, occasionally 4G, every day."

Holafly's page names Maroc Telecom as its only Moroccan network [8], the operator with the widest rural reach in both independent studies; third-party sites add inwi, but the page wins. It sells unlimited data only, for 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 or 30 days, with the hotspot capped at 1 GB a day, no top-ups (you buy a new eSIM instead), a fair-use rule it does not quantify, and a free 1 GB a month after the plan ends while the eSIM stays installed [8]. On price it is among the dearer unlimited offers in our comparison. Installation is one tap with no QR, and a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled. The speed finding is in our Holafly review. Jetpac suits frequent flyers and travelers who may need to call, and who do not mind messaging the help desk to get started. It worked well for 18 of 21 travelers who reported from Morocco (86%), strong evidence. The eSIM connected instantly for one traveler landing in Casablanca, another booked a taxi at the airport on arrival, and Marrakech, a 30-day stay and a month across Europe and Morocco on the global eSIM all went well. What stands out in the positive reports is the WhatsApp help desk: a replacement eSIM, a reset account or a manual setting fixed most first-day problems within half an hour.

The misses were speed and setup. Two travelers reported very slow downloads, in April 2024 and January 2025, one of them switching to a local SIM that was far faster. One eSIM in June 2025 would connect only to Orange instead of the Meditel named in the information pack (Meditel is Orange's former name, so that may be the same network). A couple received the same eSIM profile twice, and one traveler bought a pack for the wrong region. Our test found the same rough edges: a slow site, an app whose usage counter lags, and data that dropped until the physical SIM was switched off. As one traveler put it in October 2024: "At the airport I could immediately use it to book a taxi."

Jetpac's Morocco page did not name a network when we checked in September 2026; a third-party listing reports Orange, and the June 2025 report above saw only Orange. It sells Morocco packs of 1 GB (4 days), 3 GB (7 days) and 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30 GB (30 days), plus MENA unlimited plans from 1 to 30 days that cover Morocco; unlimited runs 3 GB per 24 hours before it slows, the hotspot is uncapped, and packs of 3 GB or more keep WhatsApp, Google Maps and Uber working after the data runs out, under Jetpac's own terms as of September 2026. Roamless is the pick for light users and multi-country trips, because its credit never expires and you pay only for what you use. It worked well for 5 of 5 travelers who reported from Morocco (100%), limited evidence. The successes were trips through Portugal, Morocco and Spain, a world trip, a few gigabytes over three days, and one traveler who also made calls through the app while a backup eSIM from another brand would not connect. The complaints did not count as failures: one traveler got only 4G while companions on Holafly had 5G, and another found it dearer than a local SIM.

Roamless's page names Maroc Telecom on 3G/4G, states that it never limits speed, and allows unlimited hotspot use [11]. Our comparison tool lists 30-day Morocco plans from 1 GB to 50 GB and credit with no expiry that covers anything from under 1 GB to 100 GB, plus a free trial for new users. On price it is below the market average in Morocco, cheap for 1 GB and dear from 10 GB up because the credit has no volume discount. The eSIM is issued in the app only, and in our test the preselected APN did not work until we switched it, which is in our Roamless review. eSIM4Travel is in this group for its price and its help desk, not for its Morocco record: there is only 1 report from Morocco so far, and it was positive (May 2025, installed in minutes and worked for the whole trip). It is the cheapest provider in our comparison overall, and its plans that cover Morocco come out at the lowest price per gigabyte in our tool. In our hands-on test the bot handed us to a person in one click, the person solved the problem and added a tip on switching network, and the eSIM installed from an emailed QR code and worked right away. That test ran outside Morocco, so it says how the company behaves, not how its network performs here.

Its Morocco page is the only one in this article that names all three Moroccan networks, inwi (listed as WANA), Maroc Telecom and Orange, with unlimited plans at 3 GB a day before they slow, hotspot allowed, top-ups available and 90 days to activate [12]. At the time of our export, our comparison tool listed its regional plans for Morocco: Middle East and North Africa from 1 GB (7 days) to 20 GB (30 days) and unlimited for 3 to 10 days, plus Global and Africa plans; the site itself showed a Morocco plan from 1 GB to 20 GB as of September 2026 [12]. The downsides stay: no app, no Google Pay, card details typed by hand, and no way to top up without Wi-Fi once the data runs out. Yesim is the cheapest provider for fixed Morocco plans in our comparison, which is rare for a brand that is among the dearest in most of Europe. It worked well for 10 of 12 travelers who reported from Morocco (83%), limited evidence. The review texts behind these reports are not in our file, so we cannot say what the two misses were or where the successes happened.

Our comparison tool lists Morocco fixed plans of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 30 GB for 30 days, unlimited sold by the day from 1 to 30 days, and Middle East and Global bundles that include Morocco. Yesim's page labels Morocco as LTE, says the hotspot depends on the operator, gives 180 days to activate, and did not name a network when we checked in September 2026 [16]. In our test the plan started at purchase rather than on first use, so buy it close to departure, and replies from the help desk took 15 to 60 minutes each, as our Yesim review shows. ByteSIM is for experienced users on short trips who pay with a local wallet, not a first pick. It worked well for 4 of 5 travelers who reported from Morocco (80%), limited evidence. The successes include 5G on a weekend trip in October 2024, a traveler whose UK roaming and an Orange eSIM both failed before ByteSIM worked once data roaming was switched on, a first-timer walked through installation over WhatsApp, and a cancelled plan refunded in full. The miss, in January 2025, was a buyer promised Maroc Telecom who could only select Orange with poor speed, and was then offered paid "expert help".

ByteSIM's two Morocco storefronts disagree with each other on the network and on 4G versus 5G when we checked in September 2026, so we cannot say which you will get. Our comparison tool lists daily plans of 500 MB to 3 GB a day for 1 to 30 days and total plans from 1 GB to 60 GB, with no unlimited plan for Morocco; daily and total plans slow after the allowance, and there are no top-ups. On price it is among the dearer providers in Morocco. In our test the checkout demanded a postal address, the app threw install errors and WhatsApp did not reply in 15 minutes, which is in our ByteSIM review, although the reports above describe fast replies. GoMoWorld suits app users who want a large allowance at a flat price, but the Morocco reports are the most mixed in this article. It worked well for 14 of 18 travelers who reported from Morocco (78%), limited evidence. The misses, mostly from June and July 2026, describe patchy coverage with no usable speed for media, a bad connection even in Tangier, little signal and no data most of the time in Marrakech and Imlil, drops that needed switching between SIMs, and a phone stuck on 3G. Two "no signal" reports were plans that had never been started in the app, and in May 2026 two eSIMs on two phones never worked and were refunded. The successes were Fez and Rabat, a week in Marrakech, Senegal and Morocco on one trip, and a landing-day problem fixed by email within the hour.

Our comparison tool lists Morocco plans of 1.5 GB (7 days) and 7, 15 and 23 GB (30 days), flagged as 4G, plus a free 200 MB one-day trial, and plans stay valid until you press Start [14]. The page did not name a network when we checked in September 2026. The hotspot and a European VPN are included; the eSIM lives in the app only, one account per device. On price it is below the market average in Morocco. In our test, run in Austria, it was the fastest provider with no throttling, but humans answer only in office hours, as our GoMoWorld review shows. Airalo is the easy choice for beginners who already use it elsewhere, but its Morocco record is only fair and its price here is well above the market. It worked well for 7 of 9 travelers who reported from Morocco (78%), limited evidence. The two misses, in July and August 2026, called it barely working and said Airalo should not sell Morocco at all; a Ubigi customer also reported that Airalo worked in places where Ubigi did not. The successes are mostly multi-country travelers for whom Morocco was one stop of many, one of whom called it the only SIM that worked, and one iPhone user found the setup less than intuitive.

Airalo's page names Orange as its Morocco network [7]. Our comparison tool lists Choukran plans of 1 GB (3 days), 3 GB (3 or 7 days), 5, 10 and 20 GB (7 to 30 days) and unlimited for 3 to 10 days at 3 GB a day before it slows, plus Menalink regional and Discover global plans, including Discover+ plans with a US number for calls and texts. It has the lowest reliability of the 14 providers across all countries in our data and sits among the dearest in Morocco, which is why it is not a pick here; our Airalo review has the purchase and install findings. Maya Mobile suits travelers who want one unlimited plan across several countries, but its Morocco reports are mixed and its biggest miss was in the mountains. It worked well for 6 of 9 travelers who reported from Morocco (67%), limited evidence. The misses: no signal in Berber villages in the Atlas for four of six days in March 2024, a 1 GB plan in April 2024 that ran WhatsApp but could not open Google Maps or email, an eSIM that would not activate at all in June 2024, and slow or absent data in the Marrakech medina. The successes were a 5 GB plan that worked without a hitch on a short trip and a help desk that reached a human quickly, praised in three reports.

Maya now sells only global unlimited plans, for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, with 5 GB a day at full speed before it slows, hotspot included and top-ups available, as listed in our comparison tool; its site said in September 2026 that it is moving to a flat daily subscription, so check what is on sale. Its page did not name a network when we checked. On price it is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison, but it sells nothing small. Saily is the smoothest first eSIM in our test, but in Morocco it has too few reports to recommend and one of the highest prices. It worked well for 2 of 3 travelers who reported from Morocco (67%), limited evidence. The miss, in March 2026, could not activate the eSIM at all and received store credit instead of a refund; the two counted as working say little about the trip itself.

Our comparison tool lists Morocco plans of 1 GB (7 days) and 3, 5 and 10 GB (30 days) plus a Middle East and North Africa regional plan, with no unlimited plan for Morocco. Saily's page did not name a network when we checked in September 2026; it allows unlimited hotspot use, gives 180 days to activate and sells a US number as an add-on [13]. On price it is among the two most expensive providers in Morocco in our comparison, which outweighs the best app and help desk we tested, both in our Saily review. Global YO is the second-cheapest provider in Morocco in our comparison, but the reports are the weakest of any provider with more than five. It worked well for 4 of 7 travelers who reported from Morocco (57%), limited evidence. The misses: very slow data in Marrakech in March 2025, an installation that kept failing while the chat went nowhere in March 2025, no service at all in January 2025, and slow data from the start on a 3 GB plan in September 2024 while a friend's airport SIM was faster. The three successes describe strong connections everywhere with no detail on where.

Our comparison tool lists Morocco plans of 1 GB (3 days), 3 and 5 GB (15 days), 10 and 20 GB (30 days), 50 GB (45 days), 100 GB (60 days) and Day Plans at 3 GB a day, plus Africa and Global plans. The page did not name a network when we checked in September 2026, and the APN must be set to globaldata by hand on some phones [15]. Purchase is app only, with the QR emailed afterwards. GigSky is not a pick for Morocco: it has the weakest record and by far the highest prices here. It worked well for 2 of 5 travelers who reported from Morocco (40%), limited evidence. The misses: an eSIM that did not work at all in May 2026, no signal on a global plan in November 2025, and a cruise plan that delivered nothing in Casablanca or any other port in March 2026 (refunded in full without asking). The two successes were a Portugal, Morocco and Spain trip, and a cruise calling at Morocco that connected most of the time.

Our comparison tool lists Morocco plans of 500 MB (7 days), 1 GB (15 days), 2, 3 and 10 GB, a 1-day unlimited pass, and cruise plans that include Morocco. We could not find which network it uses here. On price it is the most expensive provider in Morocco in our comparison by a wide margin, part of a pattern across Africa and Asia. Providers travelers report from Morocco that we have not tested

Simify, an Australian provider, appears in the reviews we read for Morocco with a mix of praise for its help desk and complaints about buffering and gaps in remote places, but it is not in our analysis, so we have no count for it and have not tested it.

Best eSIM Plans for Morocco

Price per GB in Morocco by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in Morocco? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

The tables below are live and sorted by data size. Two things from the reports help with the size: a traveler on Nomad used 0.3 GB in a week of light use, a Ubigi user driving with Waze and Google Maps used about 1.5 GB in three days, and two Ubigi travelers found 10 GB enough for one to two weeks of maps, messaging and photo uploads. If Morocco is one half of an Andalusia trip, the Morocco and Spain comparison shows the plans that cover both. For unlimited plans, the fair-use rules differ more than the prices: Ubigi gives 25 GB before slowing, Holafly does not publish a limit, Nomad slows after 2 GB a day, and Airalo, Jetpac and eSIM4Travel after 3 GB a day. Best eSIM for Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains and Casablanca

Where a review named the place, the analysis file counts it separately. Marrakech is counted under both spellings used by reviewers; the table below merges them.

Best eSIM for Marrakech

Holafly has the best Marrakech record, 8 of 8, but its speed was capped from the start in our test, so Ubigi, 6 of 6 with no cap, is the pick if you upload photos or work from the riad. Holafly's Marrakech reports describe maps working in the souks, a phone that fired up on landing at Menara, and five-day city breaks with coverage everywhere; Ubigi's describe a rock-solid connection in the heart of the medina, a week with no lost reception, and a 7-day unlimited plan shared with friends. Nomad's single report had a great signal in the markets.

The misses in Marrakech were speed, not signal, which fits a crowded medina cell. A Global YO user waited minutes for a restaurant to load on Google Maps, a GoMoWorld user had almost no data in Marrakech and Imlil, and a Maya Mobile user found the eSIM slow and unreliable inside the medina. One Holafly review from August 2026 also called the data speed in Marrakech poor, which was counted at country level. For the first hour after landing, several Ubigi and Holafly travelers needed a restart or the airport Wi-Fi to get going; after that, both held up.

Best eSIM for the Atlas Mountains

Ubigi is the pick for the Atlas, 3 of 3, and the reports say why: excellent coverage while hiking, a week in the mountains with better speeds than the hotel Wi-Fi, and signal held across rural and mountainous areas. Its page names both Maroc Telecom and Orange [10], and Maroc Telecom has the widest rural reach in both independent studies we read. The limit is the summit of Mount Toubkal, where a Ubigi traveler lost signal and said that was to be expected.

Holafly's two Atlas reports were also positive, including a seven-hour drive through isolated roads and a traveler who found only 3G in parts of the range but stayed connected; two reports is below our threshold of 3 for a pick. The one failure was Maya Mobile, whose traveler had no signal in Berber villages for four of six days in March 2024, and a GoMoWorld traveler had no data most of the time in Imlil in June 2026. The dead-zone lists in the networks section apply to every provider: the Tizi n'Tichka pass and the gorges are gaps for everyone.

Best eSIM for Casablanca

No provider has 3 or more reports from Casablanca, so the country pick, Ubigi, applies. The three reports we have are a Jetpac eSIM that connected the instant the flight arrived at Mohammed V, a Holafly eSIM that worked across Casablanca and on the high-speed train to Tangier, and a GigSky cruise plan that delivered no data at all in the port in March 2026. Casablanca is on the Atlantic corridor where every network has 4G, so the airport and the train are where differences show, and a plan that has not been started in the app is the usual reason for a blank screen on arrival.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Morocco

A Moroccan operator eSIM bought online beats every travel eSIM on price for 20 GB, and both Maroc Telecom and Orange sell one to visitors without a shop visit; the catch is the passport-based registration and, with Maroc Telecom, a first call that has to be made on Moroccan soil before the line is live. Maroc Telecom's visitor eSIM comes in three tiers as of September 2026: MAD 70.00 for unlimited social media, 1 GB of data, one hour of calls and a MAD 20.00 balance for 30 days; MAD 120.00 for 20 GB plus the MAD 20.00 balance for 30 days; and a MAD 200.00 tier whose contents were mislabelled on the page when we checked, so confirm before buying. The eSIM costs the same as a physical SIM, is ordered through the online shop, and its QR can be rescanned as often as you like [4].

Orange's "Marhaba" visitor offer starts at MAD 120.00, is valid for up to three months, and comes as an eSIM by email or a physical SIM delivered free anywhere in Morocco, with identity details entered at checkout [5]. We could not confirm whether the data allowance is unlimited or 40 GB, because Orange's own page says both. inwi's prepaid internet passes are the cleanest local price benchmark: as of September 2026, MAD 10.00 buys 1 GB for 7 days, MAD 50.00 buys 11 GB for 30 days and MAD 100.00 buys 24 GB for 30 days [3]. inwi's eSIM, however, is issued only at an inwi agency [6].

Every SIM sold in Morocco must be registered to a named person, so a kiosk will copy your passport and will not sell a card without it; a travel eSIM bought abroad is outside that rule. SIMs are sold at operator agencies, airport arrivals kiosks, malls, hotel receptions and tobacconists, and top-ups come as scratch cards or through the operator apps. We could not confirm airport kiosk prices or whether tourist packs carry extra fees, so treat any airport quote with caution. A local eSIM wins for a stay of two weeks or more with heavy data use or a need for a Moroccan number; a travel eSIM wins when you want data from the moment you land, without a registration step or a first call, and for a short trip where the difference is a few euros. Mobile Networks in Morocco

Maroc Telecom is the network to want outside the cities, Orange is the defensible alternative for a city-only trip, and inwi is not a coverage choice. Morocco has three operators and no virtual operators we could find: Maroc Telecom (prepaid brand Jawal), Orange Maroc (Médi Telecom, called Meditel until 2016, which is why some eSIM packs still say Meditel) and inwi (Wana Corporate, shown as WANA on some provider pages). According to figures ANRT, the regulator, gave at the 2025 5G award, 4G covered more than 99% of the population. Two independent studies disagree on the best network: Opensignal's April 2026 report names Maroc Telecom, with the fastest download and the highest coverage score; nPerf's full-year 2025 barometer names Orange best overall. They agree that Maroc Telecom downloads fastest and that Orange has the highest 5G availability, while inwi scores best on video and reliability but has the thinnest rural footprint.

Commercial 5G launched on all three networks on 7 November 2025, and Orange switched it on across 135 cities, provinces and prefectures with no surcharge and no SIM swap [2]. ANRT's tender set the regulatory minimum at eight cities plus their airports by November 2025, 25% of the population by the end of 2026 and 70% by the end of 2030 [1]; the operators' own commitments, as reported in the Moroccan press, are 45% by the end of 2026 and 85% by 2030. Whether your eSIM gets 5G is a separate question: Ubigi flags Morocco as 3G/4G with no 5G [10], Roamless lists Maroc Telecom on 3G/4G [11], GoMoWorld flags its Morocco plans as 4G [14] and Yesim labels Morocco LTE [16], while Holafly and Nomad travelers reported 5G. 3G is still in use: a Holafly traveler found only 3G in parts of the Atlas in April 2026, and none of our files gives a shutdown date.

Who rides which network, from the providers' own pages: Holafly and Roamless on Maroc Telecom only [8] [11]; Airalo and Nomad on Orange only [7] [9]; Ubigi on Maroc Telecom and Orange [10]; eSIM4Travel on all three [12]. ByteSIM's two storefronts disagree, Jetpac is reported on Orange by a third party, and Saily, Yesim, GoMoWorld, Global YO and Maya Mobile did not name a network on their Morocco pages when we checked in September 2026. For a trip that leaves the Atlantic corridor, that list is the strongest differentiator between providers, more than price; our guide to eSIMs with several networks explains how to switch operator by hand when the phone picks the wrong one. We could not locate a working coverage map from any of the three operators as of September 2026; a crowdsourced nPerf map is the only one we found, so the dead-zone list in the introduction rests on provider pages and travel guides, not on measurements.

How to Set Up an eSIM for Morocco

Install at home on Wi-Fi, keep the eSIM line switched off until you land, and switch on data roaming for it once you arrive; that one setting caused most of the "no data on arrival" reports we read.

1. Check that your phone is unlocked and can take an eSIM; our list of phones with eSIM support covers the models, and iPhones bought in mainland China or Hong Kong have exceptions.
2. Buy before you fly, because almost every plan here starts on first connection in Morocco, not at purchase. Activation windows: Nomad 60 days [9], eSIM4Travel 90 days [12], Saily and Yesim 180 days [13] [16], Ubigi six months [10], Jetpac three months under its terms. Two exceptions: Yesim's plan started at purchase in our test, so buy it close to departure, and GoMoWorld plans wait until you press Start in the app [14].
3. Install at home. Ubigi, Holafly, Airalo, Jetpac, Nomad, eSIM4Travel, Yesim, ByteSIM and Maya Mobile send a QR code by email; Saily, GoMoWorld, Roamless, GigSky and Global YO install from their apps. Our guides for adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung show each screen. Delete expired eSIMs from the same provider first, as one Nomad traveler learnt in Morocco.
4. On landing, enable the eSIM line, set it as the mobile data line, and switch on data roaming for it. Holafly and ByteSIM travelers had no data until roaming was on. If your provider needs an APN, set it before you leave: globaldata for Global YO [15] and Maya Mobile, Proximus Internet for Roamless in our test.
5. If nothing happens after a few minutes, restart the phone (that fixed it for a Ubigi traveler) or pick a network by hand in the eSIM's settings, which is what the help desks of Ubigi, GoMoWorld and eSIM4Travel advise. Our eSIM troubleshooting guide has the full checklist.
6. Watch the data. Nomad's widget shows what is left; GigSky, Ubigi and Roamless let you buy more with a zero balance, while every other app here goes offline when the data runs out and needs Wi-Fi to top up.

Calls and SMS in Morocco

Morocco's calling code is +212, and no travel eSIM in this article sells a Moroccan number; calls go over WhatsApp or a similar app, which several Holafly travelers used from the desert to call home. Internet calling was blocked by regulator decision in January 2016 and unblocked in November 2016, and we found no sign of a new block as of September 2026, although some travel sites still claim one; a rule that was switched once could be switched again.

If you want a real number, the options are foreign ones: Airalo's Discover+ regional plans that cover Morocco include a US number with calls and texts, listed in our comparison tool; Jetpac sells voice packs inside its app; Roamless offers in-app calls and an optional second number, which one traveler used in Morocco; Global YO includes outgoing internet calls; and Saily sells a US number as an add-on [13]. Holafly, Ubigi, Nomad, GoMoWorld, GigSky and eSIM4Travel are data only. For a Moroccan number with minutes, the Maroc Telecom visitor eSIM includes one hour of calls and a call balance [4], and the local SIM section above has the prices and the registration rule.

Free eSIM Data for Morocco

Two free allowances cover Morocco in our files. GoMoWorld gives a 200 MB one-day trial on its Morocco plan grid [14], enough to test the eSIM at the airport before you start a paid plan. Roamless lists a free trial for new users in our comparison tool, a small credit of under half a gigabyte usable in Morocco and anywhere else it covers. GigSky and Jetpac also advertise small free trials of 100 MB, and Nomad a 1 GB trial; check their current country lists before you count on them. Summary: the best eSIM for Morocco

Based on 249 traveler reports and our tests, we recommend Ubigi for most Morocco trips: it worked well for 54 of 55 travelers, its page names both Maroc Telecom and Orange, and its one real weakness is a help desk that never answered us. Nomad (33 of 34) is the choice for anyone who values a polished app and a below-market price, with weak signal outside the big cities as its one miss and no human help desk. Holafly (61 of 65) is the safest choice for the desert and the Atlas on unlimited data, with its speed capped from the start in our test and a hotspot limit of 1 GB a day.

Jetpac (18 of 21) suits frequent flyers and callers who are happy to message its WhatsApp help desk on day one. Roamless (5 of 5) fits light users on pay-as-you-go credit that never expires, on 4G only. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest in our comparison and had the best help desk we tested, with just 1 report from Morocco so far. Whatever you choose, the best eSIM for Morocco is the one whose network you have checked against your route, installed at home, with data roaming switched on when you land.
