How to buy a GoMoWorld eSIM

You can buy on gomoworld.com or in the app. Either way the plan ends up in your app account, so buying in the app saves a step. Here is the flow we went through on the website.

1. Pick a destination. Country plans, regional plans like the 33-country Europe plan [3], and a cruise plan.
2. Sign in. We used Google. GoMoWorld also lists Apple sign-in and 6-digit one-time codes by email or SMS; there is no password [8].
3. Choose one of four plans. €3.99 for 7 days, or €10.99, €19.99 or €29.99 for 30 days. The data amount depends on the country.
4. Pay. Visa, Mastercard, Discover or Amex cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay [7]. Google Pay showed up in the mobile browser but not on desktop in our test.
5. Open the app. Log in with the same email and the plan is waiting there. Nothing arrives by email.

Where is my GoMoWorld eSIM after purchase?

In the app, and only there. After paying on the website we got no eSIM by email and nothing to download on the web. It feels like a deliberate push into the app, and it will surprise anyone used to a QR code in their inbox.

GoMoWorld payment methods, currencies and discounts

One oddity: the terms say that buying a plan authorizes GoMoWorld to debit the same card for future purchases [4], while the payment FAQ promises no auto-renewals [7]. No auto-renewal feature is described anywhere, so in practice you pay per plan. Receipts sit in the app under Settings, then Order History [4].

What the GoMoWorld app does well

The app looks native on Android, is well organized and feels thought through. Buying more data takes a few taps. You see your remaining data, with a short delay, and how many days your plan has left.

• Buy and top up: every plan purchase and repeat purchase happens here. GoMoWorld sells it as one eSIM for every trip [1], and the eSIM you installed once stays on the phone.
• Usage and days left: remaining data updates with a bit of delay; the day counter is clear.
• Start and schedule plans: you press Start when you want the clock to run, or set a date, time and time zone in advance [4].
• Alerts: with push notifications on, the app warns you as you near your data or time limit [4].

The only bug we hit was a cookie consent bar in French popping up inside the app. Cosmetic, nothing more. App store users agree with our score: 4.8 on the App Store and 4.6 on Google Play, as the customer feedback section shows.

GoMoWorld app not working? Check your data balance first

The app stops working when your plan runs out of data. GoMoWorld does not zero-rate its own app (zero-rating lets an app's traffic through even with no balance). With an empty plan you cannot open it on mobile data at all. To buy more you need Wi-Fi or another connection.

Plan for this: top up before you hit zero, or know where the next Wi-Fi is. Customers flag a related problem, as the feedback section shows: the plan has to be started in the app over Wi-Fi, and many only find that out on arrival.

One GoMoWorld account, one phone at a time

Each account holds one eSIM, logged in on one device at a time. Logging in on a new phone switches the eSIM off on the old one [10]. If your phone is lost or stolen there is no refund, but the terms let you carry the plan to a replacement phone by installing the app there [4]. Tell GoMoWorld at once, because you stay responsible for any use until you do [4].

How to install a GoMoWorld eSIM (no QR code needed)

GoMoWorld installs the eSIM only through its app. No QR code or any other method can be used, and GoMoWorld says this avoids the installation problems QR codes cause [9]. In our test the wizard walked us through every step so clearly that a first-timer would manage it.

1. Install the GoMoWorld app and sign in with the email you bought with.
2. Open your plan and start the installation wizard. Do this on Wi-Fi at home or in the hotel, not at the airport gate.
3. Allow the app to add an eSIM. The terms say the app needs eSIM installation privileges in your phone settings; without them nothing can be installed [4].
4. Follow the wizard until the eSIM shows as installed. Nothing has started yet.
5. Press Start in the app when you want the plan to begin, or schedule a date and time [4]. Data worked right away for us after pressing Start.

GoMoWorld eSIM not working after install? Press Start first

This is the step we missed. Installing the eSIM does not start the plan; the 7 or 30 days only begin when you activate it, at once or at a scheduled time [4]. Until then the eSIM sits there with no data.

It is a real advantage once you know: install at home, start on landing, waste no days. But it is unusual, and you need a connection to press Start, so many customers get caught out on arrival. A scheduled start also needs the eSIM on your phone at that moment. If it is not there, the plan stays available and you can start it by hand later [4].

Can I give a GoMoWorld eSIM to a family member?

Not as a QR code. Because the eSIM only exists inside the app, a plan for a partner or child has to be bought with their own email. They also need the app on their own phone. One account works on one device at a time, so each family member needs their own account [10].

Experienced users will miss having a QR code or activation code as an option. For everyone else, the wizard is a fair trade.

Which phones work with GoMoWorld?

Your phone must be network-unlocked and eSIM-compatible, and the app checks compatibility when you install it [4]. GoMoWorld's device FAQ lists Apple (iPhone XS and XR onward, cellular iPads), Samsung, Google Pixel 3 to Pixel 10 and Pixel Fold, Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, Sony, Xiaomi, Honor, Nokia, LG and Fairphone. What happened when we asked GoMoWorld for help

The chat relies heavily on AI, and for basics that works. There are prewritten troubleshooting guides for each platform, and the bot adapts them to your exact phone model when you ask. Most installation and activation questions get a usable answer this way.

Asking for a person is where it stops. The bot told us the human helpdesk is available from Monday 8 am. That rules out weekend help, which is when a lot of trips start, and it is why the category scores 6 out of 10 despite the good self-service.

GoMoWorld publishes no support hours or response times on its site. Customer reviews echo our experience: praise for agents who fix activation problems and refund quickly, and complaints that replies take a day or more outside office hours. 1. Care team first, through the web form in the app. Ask for escalation and you get an internal case reference number [6].
2. Formal complaint by email to [email protected], by phone, or by post to GoMoWorld Complaints, Roches Street, Limerick, V94 A8D7, Ireland [6].
3. Reply within 48 hours, with a target of resolving the complaint within 10 working days [6].
4. Refunds from a complaint are paid by bank transfer (EFT) to the account you paid from [6], while the terms say refunds go back to the original payment method in the original currency [4].
5. Still unhappy? GoMoWorld points online buyers to the EU online dispute resolution platform [6].

GoMoWorld promises full-speed internet up to 5G [1], so we tested near a 5G tower. We were more than pleasantly surprised.

Does GoMoWorld throttle data?

Not in our test. Speed held after more than 10 GB in a single day. That matters because some plans slow you down after about 1 GB, even when the package holds much more. With GoMoWorld you use the available network to its full potential.

Not every destination is 5G, though. Our comparison tool lists 5G on about half of GoMoWorld's plans (412 of 800) and 3G on 40, so check the network generation on your country's plan before you buy. Our explainer on whether 5G is worth it over 4G helps you decide how much that matters.

Does the GoMoWorld hotspot work?

Yes: tethering is allowed under the terms [4], and the homepage advertises hotspot as included [1]. At the end of our 20 GB plan, while using the hotspot, the app showed 21 GB used. If that is not a reporting quirk on the hotspot side, GoMoWorld gave us more than we paid for. One third-party review (esims.io) reported the hotspot failing in its test; ours ran without a hitch.

A "European VPN" is advertised next to the hotspot [1], but no page explains what it is, and the terms do not mention it. Treat it as a bonus, not a reason to buy. If several people need to share a connection for weeks, compare the cost with a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

How much does a GoMoWorld eSIM cost?

Every destination has the same four prices: €3.99 for 7 days and €10.99, €19.99 and €29.99 for 30 days. GoMoWorld markets this as prepaid plans from €3.99 with no subscriptions [1]. What changes is the data behind each price, and it changes a lot.

Source: our comparison tool, 2 Oct 2026. On that date €29.99 bought 500 GB in Cyprus, Ireland, Malta, Poland and Switzerland. There are no unlimited plans, so those 500 GB plans are the closest thing, and there are no daily plans and no calls. A cruise plan is listed too: 1 GB for 1 day at €10.99 on GoMoWorld's cruise page, covering Carnival, Costa, Cunard, Viking and P&O among more than two dozen lines.

GoMoWorld data allowance and price per GB by destination

The allowances below come from GoMoWorld's destination pages, read on 7 Oct 2026; the United States and Europe pages are in our sources. Where a page showed two figures for one tier (for example 30 GB and 36 GB) we list both, since the site does not say which is the bonus. The price per GB uses the lower one.

*The Japan page text was ambiguous between 55 GB and 5 GB; 55 GB fits the 35 GB tier below it. Allowances also move over time: on 2 Oct 2026 our comparison tool had 500 GB for €29.99 in Switzerland and Ireland, and five days later their pages showed 200 GB. Check the live figure in the plan finder at the bottom of this page before you decide.

When is the bigger GoMoWorld plan worth it?

Each step up is a fixed jump (€7, then €9, then €10), so whether it is a bargain depends on the country. In generous markets the €9 step from €10.99 to €19.99 takes you from 15 GB to 50 GB, about $10.35 for 35 GB more (euros converted at 1.15 USD per EUR, as in our price analysis). That is around $0.30 per extra GB, and the next step to 75 GB costs $11.50 more. In expensive markets the same €9 step buys 1 GB to 3 GB, about $5 per extra GB.

The weak spot is small data: the €3.99 plan lasts only 7 days and often gives under 1 GB, so for 1 GB GoMoWorld is dearer than most. Where GoMoWorld is cheap and where it is expensive

Think of GoMoWorld as a European, South American and Oceanian bargain. In Africa, Asia and North America it sits at the market average, because very cheap and very expensive countries cancel each other out. Country by country it was the cheapest provider in India and the second cheapest in Switzerland and Vietnam, but among the two dearest in the UAE, Thailand, Indonesia and South Korea.

Prices are charged in EUR, USD or GBP depending on your billing country, VAT included, and refunds come back in the currency you paid [4]. Most destinations also have a free 1-day trial plan in the app. It is 1 GB in the United States [2] and 100 MB on the Europe plan [3], but as little as 10 MB in Iran and Afghanistan according to GoMoWorld's own pages. GoMoWorld advertises 200+ destinations, with two networks per country on average [1], although other pages on its site say 170 and 160 countries. Beyond country plans there are regional plans, the largest a 33-country Europe plan [3], but no global plan yet. No destination page names the local operators, and GoMoWorld's pages even list plans for Iran, Russia, Belarus and Venezuela.

Traveler reports tell a mixed story: 483 of 643 country-level reports (75%) say the eSIM worked, against an 85% average across the providers we track. The box below breaks that down by country, city and region. The short version:

• Strong: Ireland (16 of 16 reports, 100%), Egypt (15 of 16, 94%), Spain (25 of 27, 93%), France (25 of 28, 89%) and the United Kingdom (15 of 17, 88%).

Verdict: Plain Irish-law terms with no arbitration, but no returns, no refunds of unused data, and a ban on home-country use.

Your contract is with eircom Limited in Dublin, under Irish law and the Irish courts, with no arbitration clause and no class-action waiver [4]. The terms carry no version date; the privacy policy was last updated on 8 Apr 2026 and names a data protection officer at [email protected] [5]. One marketing promise sits oddly with the terms: destination pages guarantee a refund if you cannot activate your plan [2], while the terms say plans cannot be returned [4]. Keep screenshots if activation fails, and use the complaints route described above.

Verdict: 8.1 out of 10. One of the best-priced eSIMs for 5 GB and up, with the fastest and least restricted data we have tested, held back by app-only delivery and office-hours support.

GoMoWorld gets the expensive things right: zero throttling, true 5G where the network has it, and a hotspot that worked. Its four flat prices turn into a bargain across most of Europe and South America. The app is tidy, and buying more data takes seconds, as long as you still have some.

The small things are where it slips. The eSIM is only handed over in the app, so there is no QR code to pass to a family member and no email backup. Traveler reports also warn that reliability outside Western Europe, above all in the United States, Mexico and East Asia, is below the market.

Buy if:

• You want full speed and heavy use with no daily cap.
• You need 5 GB or more, especially in Europe, South America or Oceania.
• You like installing at home and starting the plan on landing, or at a scheduled time.
• You are heading to Ireland, Spain, France, the UK or Egypt, where reports are strong.

Look elsewhere if:

• You need a QR code or want to buy an eSIM for someone else.
• You only need about 1 GB for a week; the 7-day plan is poor value for that.
• You may need a human at the weekend; the bot told us to come back on Monday.
• You are going to the United States, Mexico, Canada, Japan or China, where GoMoWorld's traveler reports are weak.
• You want unlimited data or a phone number; GoMoWorld sells neither.
