Holafly's Spain page says the Canaries are included and names Orange, Movistar, Vodafone and Yoigo (checked August 2026). It worked for 3 of 3 island travelers. A British user had a solid, fast signal in Gran Canaria, and another connected in Lanzarote. In Tenerife, an American couple whose home carrier plan failed had Holafly running within minutes.

GoMoWorld scored 8.2 in our test, with a 10 for speed and no throttling, and worked for 18 of 22 Spain travelers. The closest island report is from Madeira, where a Venezuelan reviewer never lost signal before moving on to Spain.

Yesim has the largest clean Canary sample of any tested provider: 2 of 2 for the islands in general, 1 of 1 in Lanzarote and 1 of 1 in Tenerife. Across Spain it has never failed a traveler in our data, 16 of 16. Its blog lists Movistar, Orange and Vodafone as partners, which we could not confirm on a product page.

Saily worked for 2 of 3 island travelers. An American called it super easy to use on getting off the plane in Gran Canaria, and a British user has used it for years, Tenerife included. It scored 8.5 in our test, with 10 for support.

GigSky sells cruise coverage, and two reviewers tried it around the Canaries. One on a Lisbon, Canaries and Morocco cruise connected most of the time. Another on a 14-day Canaries cruise called the connection terrible, though support sorted his complaint quickly.

Airalo worked for 1 of 1 Tenerife traveler, a Briton who installed it at home, connected through the airport Wi-Fi and had no problems at all. Another bought it for Gran Canaria but had not reported back.

Across Spain it managed only 21 of 51, the lowest share we track, and its Spanish networks are unclear. Our test gave it 7.3, pulled down by a 4 for price. Our full Airalo review explains the pattern.

Jetpac, eSIM4Travel and Untested Providers on the Canaries

Jetpac (6.7) worked for 1 of 2 La Palma travelers and 14 of 16 across Spain. eSIM4Travel scored 8.8 but has no island report, and ByteSIM (5.3) sits outside our Spain reports for now.

We have not tested the next ones, so they are listed without a ranking. Maya Mobile worked for 5 of 5 across our Canary rows, from fast 5G in Lanzarote to signal on Tenerife's volcano, though one Tenerife user found speeds poor. 2 GB covers a short break in Playa del Inglés with pool-side Wi-Fi.

5 GB suits a Maspalomas beach week with photos, maps and messages.

10 GB fits a week with drives to Roque Nublo, Tejeda and Puerto de Mogán.

Tenerife, Lanzarote and the Other Canary Islands

Tenerife has the most island reports, 8, spread over seven providers, and only Ubigi failed there. Lanzarote adds 4, with Saily's one failure. Fuerteventura and La Palma have one and two reports each, not enough to judge.

Mobile Networks on Gran Canaria: Resort Coast vs Mountain Interior

The same four companies run networks on the Canaries as on the mainland: Movistar, MasOrange (Orange and Yoigo on one network), Vodafone España and Digi. Movistar led Opensignal's May 2026 download ranking at 96.7 Mbps.

Our research singles out the mountainous parts of the Canaries as places where the choice of network shows. Ubigi's two island failures fit that picture, since it runs only on MasOrange. Holafly names three physical networks on its Spain page.

The resort coast around Maspalomas is well covered, but the interior is rural. The CNMC rural report found only 15.4% of rural municipalities have three 5G networks, against 49.7% of urban ones. Our guide to switching networks shows how to move if one stalls.

How Much Data You Need in Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés

A resort week is mostly photos, messages and the odd map, with streaming on hotel Wi-Fi. Our Spain reports range from about 1 GB a day to about 2 GB a day, so 5 GB covers a typical beach week.

Day Trips From Maspalomas: Roque Nublo, Mogán, Las Palmas and Other Islands

Roque Nublo, Tejeda, Puerto de Mogán and Las Palmas are all on Gran Canaria, so your plan keeps working, but the mountain roads can drop the signal. Save offline maps before you head inland.

Ferries to Tenerife and Fuerteventura stay within Spain. Cruises often add Madeira, which is Portugal, or Morocco, and a Spain plan will not cover either. Buying a SIM on Gran Canaria vs Using a Travel eSIM

Our research lists airport SIM counters in Madrid, Barcelona, Málaga and Palma, not Gran Canaria, so a local SIM means a phone shop or estanco in the resort or in Las Palmas. You need your passport, but no NIE. In August 2026 the comparison site Kelisto listed Yoigo prepaid at €15.00 for 80 GB.

How to Set Up Your eSIM Before Landing on Gran Canaria

Install at home, then switch on when you land. A Saily user in Gran Canaria and an Airalo user in Tenerife both had it running before leaving the airport.

1. Check the country list. Make sure the plan names the Canary Islands, or pick Holafly, whose Spain page confirms them.
2. Check your phone. Everything else is in our eSIM device list for eSIM hardware and unlock status.
