Global YO leads for Granada on 23 of 25 Spain reports and an 8.0 test score. One American who used it in Spain, Greece and Turkey said the data stayed fast even in small towns, a good sign for Alpujarra villages.

We cannot tell you which Spanish network it uses, since that is not confirmed. A Spain-based user saw only 1 to 2 bars in his town, so save offline maps before heading uphill. Support scored 5 in our test. Our Global YO review has the rest.

Holafly's Spain page names Orange, Movistar, Vodafone and Yoigo (checked August 2026). Our research describes Movistar as having the deepest rural and mountain reach, and Holafly is the only provider here that confirms it. A British user reported flawless 5G across Andalusia, even in remote areas.

In Granada itself, a US traveler had decent coverage but lost data 4 or 5 times across Madrid, Granada and Seville. Our test measured about 30 Mbps and scored Holafly 6.2, with 4 for price. A 7-day unlimited plan cost $23.90 as of August 2026. Get the rest from our Holafly test.

Nomad worked for 71 of 84 Spain travelers. A Canadian who drove several thousand kilometres around southern Spain in a month had service almost everywhere, losing it only in remote areas where nobody else had signal either.

Another reviewer found rural southern Spain unreliable, so it is not a sure thing. We found no network named on its Spain page in August 2026. Our test gave it 6.8, and just 2 for support. Turn to our Nomad test.

Yesim worked for 16 of 16 Spain travelers, but none of those reports comes from Andalusia or a mountain area. Its blog lists Movistar, Orange and Vodafone, which we could not confirm.

GigSky worked for 26 of 33 Spain travelers, but its southern Spain reviews are weak: one called it very intermittent, and a Málaga traveler had trouble. Another said it cut out where other SIMs still worked.

It scored 7.2 in our test, with 9 for support, and its app still works when your data runs out, useful on a mountain road. The rest is in our GigSky test.

Airalo worked for 21 of 51 Spain travelers. Its Spanish partners are unclear, and a single retest reports 4G only in Spain; we could not confirm that.

It scored 7.3 in our test, with 4 for price. For a trip into the mountains, a provider with a stronger Spain record is the safer choice. Our Airalo test and Airalo alternatives explain why.

Other eSIM Providers for Granada and the Mountains

Jetpac (6.7, 14 of 16 in Spain) has a good rural record: one Canadian praised coverage in rural Spain and between cities, and free Google Maps kept his data use low. A 15 GB user also had good coverage in the mountains of Riaño. eSIM4Travel scored 8.8 but has only one Spain report, and ByteSIM (5.3) has no Spain record to judge.

We have not tested the next ones, so no ranking. Maya Mobile (127 of 131 in Spain) worked in the mountains of Andalusia for one user but gave another only 3G in Granada and Córdoba. The Andalusian rows add up to 9 reports: Nomad 3 of 5, Holafly 2 of 2, GoMoWorld 1 of 1 and GigSky 0 of 1. The Granada mentions outside those rows are mixed, with Holafly decent and Maya Mobile stuck on 3G. That is too little to overrule Global YO's Spain-wide record.

Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarra: The Rural 5G Gap

The CNMC rural quality report found that 94% of rural municipalities have three mobile networks, but only 82.2% have even one 5G network, against 96% of urban ones. Only 15.4% of rural municipalities have three 5G networks. In the mountains, expect 4G and make sure your map works offline.

Which Spanish Network Reaches Granada's Mountains

Spain has four network owners: Digi, Movistar, Vodafone España and MasOrange, whose Orange and Yoigo brands use the same masts. Movistar won Opensignal's May 2026 download award at 96.7 Mbps, and Ookla also ranked it first for the first half of 2025. Our research also describes it as the network with the deepest rural reach.

That matters in Granada more than in most cities. The CNMC found download speeds fall as towns get smaller, so an eSIM locked to one network is betting on the city. Holafly is the only provider here that names Movistar. Ubigi, which we have not tested, runs only on MasOrange.

The Alpujarra villages, the Sierra Nevada ski area, Guadix, Córdoba and the Costa Tropical are all in Spain, so your plan keeps working. The mountain roads are where signal thins, so download routes first and keep the phone charged.
