Best eSIM for Ukraine in 2026: 14 Providers Ranked by Traveler Reports

Best eSIM Ukraine
Key Takeaways

Key takeaways

Only 4 traveler reports from Ukraine exist in our review base, so no provider has the 3 reports we need to rank it on reports. Based on price and our own tests, we recommend eSIM4Travel: it had the lowest plan prices of the providers in our comparison tool at the 2, 5 and 10 GB sizes, a help desk that put us through to a human in one click, and plans that name three Ukrainian networks. Its weak points are no app and no traveler reports from Ukraine yet. Travelers with an EU or EEA SIM can use their home plan at domestic rates, so they need no eSIM.

The best eSIM for Ukraine is harder to pick than for most countries, because there is almost no traveler data to rank on. We found 4 public reports from Ukraine across the 14 providers we track, so this guide leans on our hands-on tests, the plans in our comparison tool and the local network facts, and it says plainly where the evidence is thin.

Three facts change the decision. First, there are no arriving flights. Ukrainian civil airspace has been closed since 24 February 2022, and as of late September 2026 we found no report of it reopening, so visitors arrive by train or bus, mostly from Poland. That also means there is no airport arrivals hall where you could buy a SIM. Second, since 1 January 2026 Ukraine is part of the EU Roam Like at Home zone, so an EU or EEA SIM works there at domestic rates [1] [2]. Third, none of the three operators publishes a coverage map any more, so you cannot check your route in advance [4] [6] [7].

Reports describe the Carpathian valleys and the north-western forests as the main coverage gaps. The bigger risk is power: operators run sites on batteries and generators to keep service up during grid outages. One operator, lifecell, is also switching off 3G in 468 settlements, which matters for older phones [8].

Best eSIM Providers for Ukraine

eSIM plans in Ukraine at a glance

How well each provider's eSIM works in Ukraine

The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Ukraine. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 4 public customer reviews that mention Ukraine or a place in it, published between December 2024 and July 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 1 of 1 means the eSIM worked well for the 1 traveler who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run outside Ukraine, so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here. Local operator prices in the text are as of August 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.

We chose the Best group on coverage first, price second and our own tests third. Coverage could not decide this time, because no provider has 3 or more traveler reports from Ukraine. That leaves eSIM4Travel as the only provider in the Best group, on price and our tests. The other 13 providers follow in the next section in the same sort order.

eSIM4Travel eSIM in our hands

eSIM4Travel testing outdoor eSIM4Travel testing speed 1 eSIM4Travel testing speed 2 eSIM4Travel testing support

eSIM4Travel is the option we list first for Ukraine, on price and our tests rather than on traveler reports, because there are no traveler reports from Ukraine yet. In our comparison tool it has the lowest plan prices at the 2, 5 and 10 GB sizes, and its plan titles name Vodafone, Kyivstar and lifecell as the networks it uses here [12]. It has the highest Vefru test score of the providers compared here, and its help desk was among the two best we tested: a short bot, then one click to a human who solved our problem. Our tests ran outside Ukraine, so they show how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here.

With no reports, there are no misses to describe from Ukraine. Across all countries its traveler-report record ranks fourth of the 14 providers, but it comes from the smallest review base of the group, so treat that as a hint, not proof.

It sells Ukraine plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, valid 7 to 30 days, plus unlimited plans for 3 to 30 days. The unlimited plans are flagged as throttled in our comparison tool and slow down after a daily allowance. Regional Best Europe plans that cover Ukraine also exist. Tethering is allowed, and the plan clock starts when the eSIM first connects to a network. There is no app: you buy on the website and get a QR code by email, you type the card by hand (no Google Pay), and once the data runs out you cannot reach the store without Wi-Fi. Its price edge is usually the biggest in our comparison, though it fades at 50 GB. It suits budget travelers who install before they cross the border and need 1 to 20 GB, and it suits them less if you need an app, calls or very large data. See how it did in our eSIM4Travel review, or check current plans on eSIM4Travel.

Other eSIM Providers for Ukraine

All 13 providers below have a Vefru test score, but none has 3 or more traveler reports from Ukraine. Four have exactly one report (one good, three bad) and nine have none, so they are in sort order by the little evidence there is, then by price position and our tests. Two of the four reports were written in 2026.

GoMoWorld eSIM in our hands

GoMoWorld has the only positive Ukraine report in our data, and it is a single one: the eSIM worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Ukraine (100%), which is too few to judge. The traveler wrote in November 2025 that the connection covered Lviv and the road to the border, that "I could easily download photos," and that sharing the connection with another device worked smoothly. Nothing in our data tells us how it behaves in the rest of the country, and we could not confirm which Ukrainian network it uses.

Our comparison tool lists four GoMoWorld Ukraine plans: 5 GB for 7 days and 20, 50 and 75 GB for 30 days, with tethering and a 5G label. There is no small plan and no unlimited plan, so a light weekend trip is not its strength. Its price at 5 GB was among the cheapest in our comparison tool. In our test it showed no sign of throttling, but it is app-only (no QR code by email, one account per device), the plan does not begin until you press Start in the app, and human help is available in office hours only. Our GoMoWorld review has the details. Heavy-data travelers who are comfortable with an app can check GoMoWorld.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands

Maya is not a top pick for Ukraine: the one report says the eSIM did not work, and Maya sells no Ukraine-specific plan. It worked for 0 of 1 travelers who reported from Ukraine (0%), too few to judge. The traveler was in Ukraine from September to October 2024, had no service at all and could not stay in touch with family. The review does not say which city or which network the phone tried to use.

Maya sells only global unlimited plans, for 3, 7, 14 and 30 days with a cruise variant, and our comparison tool lists them as covering Ukraine. Speed stays full up to a daily allowance of 5 GB, then slows. In our test it was the fairest unlimited plan we tried, with strong speed, while support was slower (a WhatsApp bot, then a human). A full refund is possible if no data was used within 30 days. We could not confirm its Ukrainian network. It suits trips of a week or more that combine several countries on one plan, for readers who accept the failed report. Our Maya Mobile review covers it in full, and the plans are on Maya Mobile.

Airalo eSIM in our hands

Airalo testing outdoor Airalo testing speed 1 Airalo testing speed 2 Airalo testing support

Airalo is not a top pick here: the one Ukraine report is a miss, and across all countries Airalo has the weakest traveler-report record of the 14 providers. It worked for 0 of 1 travelers who reported from Ukraine (0%), too few to judge. In July 2026 the traveler saw 4G and a local network name on the phone but had no internet at all, after using Airalo in Romania a week earlier. The review does not say where in Ukraine this happened or what caused it.

Airalo sells its Ukraine plans under the local brand name Lavranet: fixed plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, valid 3 to 30 days, and unlimited plans for 3 to 30 days that slow down after 3 GB a day. Regional Discover plans that cover Ukraine exist too. Airalo's own pages disagree about the network: the landing page names lifecell plus two others, while the product pages name Kyivstar and Vodafone [10]. In our test the purchase and install were easy and data worked right away, and its price sits around the market average. It is data only, with no local number. Read our Airalo review for the test findings, or look at Airalo if the one miss does not put you off.

Holafly is not a top pick for Ukraine: in our test its speed was capped from the start, and the one traveler report from Ukraine is a miss. It worked for 0 of 1 travelers who reported from Ukraine (0%), too few to judge. The traveler wrote in May 2026 that "even with support I could not get decent service" on an iPhone 17, and said a lifecell SIM had worked well the year before. The cap is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work.

Across all countries Holafly has the best traveler-report record of the 14 providers, so the Ukraine miss stands out. Its own page sells unlimited plans only, from 1 to 30 days, and says the eSIM connects to Kyivstar and lifecell [9]. The hotspot is limited to 1 GB a day, the operator may slow data above an estimated 90 GB a month [9], and there are no top-ups, so a longer stay means buying a new eSIM. Our comparison tool lists no Holafly plan for Ukraine, so there is no plan table here, and its price sits among the highest for unlimited plans. It suits travelers who want to stop thinking about data and accept the cap. Our Holafly review explains the speed finding, and you can check the Ukraine page on Holafly.

Global YO is the cheapest option after eSIM4Travel in most of our price comparisons, but there are no traveler reports from Ukraine yet, so we cannot say how it works here. Across all countries its traveler-report record is below average. Its own Ukraine page names Kyivstar and "MTS UKR" as networks, an old name for Vodafone Ukraine, and says the plans are 4G only [11].

Our comparison tool lists fixed Ukraine plans of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 GB, valid 3 to 60 days, plus day plans with a daily allowance for 3 to 30 days. Prices at 5 and 10 GB are among the lowest we found. In our test the purchase must be made in the app, the QR code then arrives by email, and the first support reply was slow and generic. Its page says the APN, a phone setting that names the data network, may need to be entered by hand as "globaldata" [11]. It suits price-driven travelers who install at home. Our Global YO review has the test details, and plans are on Global YO.

Ubigi has no traveler reports from Ukraine yet, so it stays outside the Best group despite cheap 10 GB and unlimited plans. Across all countries its traveler-report record is average, strong in Japan and Western Europe. It is the one provider here that can still sell you more data when your balance is at zero, which helps if you run out away from Wi-Fi.

Our comparison tool lists Ukraine plans of 10 GB and 50 GB for 30 days, plus unlimited plans for 7, 15 and 30 days. There is no 5 GB or 20 GB plan. Ubigi's own pages give the clearest unlimited rule of the group: full speed up to a cap (20 GB on the 7-day plan, 60 GB on the 30-day plans), then slower [14]. They do not name the Ukrainian network. Its price at 10 GB was among the lowest in our comparison tool. In our test the site and app were clumsy and a support ticket got no reply in 24 hours, the weakest outcome of all providers. It suits tech-savvy travelers who rarely need help. Our Ubigi review has the details, and plans are on Ubigi.

You have 30 days to activate, add-on data is available and there is no unlimited plan for Ukraine. Its prices in Ukraine sit around or a little above the market average at 5 and 10 GB. Roamless is not a top pick for Ukraine: there are no traveler reports yet and its larger plans are among the most expensive in our comparison tool. Across all countries it has one of the better traveler-report records, so the missing data is the main gap. Our comparison tool lists it as running on MTS, which is the former name of Vodafone Ukraine, and we could not confirm that on its own page.

Roamless sells a pay-as-you-go credit that does not expire, 30-day plans and a free Ukraine trial plan. One eSIM works in other countries too, and the app has in-app calls and an optional second number. There is no unlimited plan, and no throttling is claimed. In our test the checkout was rough (Google Pay failed), the eSIM is app-only, and the preselected APN did not work until we picked another one, though a human fixed it within 30 minutes. It can still top up when data is almost gone. It suits frequent multi-country travelers with light needs. Our Roamless review has the details, and you can see the offer on Roamless.

ByteSIM eSIM in our hands

ByteSIM testing preview ByteSIM testing speed 1 ByteSIM testing speed 2 ByteSIM testing support

ByteSIM has the biggest Ukraine catalog in our comparison tool, but there are no traveler reports yet and our tests found a clumsy purchase and support that did not answer. Across all countries its traveler-report record is above average, strongest in East Asia. We could not confirm its Ukrainian network.

It sells fixed plans from 0.5 GB to 90 GB and daily-allowance plans, with validities of 1 to 30 days; longer validity costs more. The daily plans are flagged as throttled after the allowance, and there is no unlimited plan or voice plan for Ukraine. Its prices at 2 to 10 GB were below the market median in our comparison tool. In our test the checkout asked for a phone number and full postal address, the app had install errors, and a WhatsApp message got no reply in 15 minutes. It suits experienced users who want a specific size and validity. Our ByteSIM review has the details, and plans are on ByteSIM.

Yesim has no traveler reports from Ukraine yet and the slowest help desk of the group in our test, so it stays out of the Best group. Across all countries its record is about average. We could not confirm its Ukrainian network.

Yesim sells fixed Ukraine plans of 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 GB for 30 days and unlimited plans by the day for 1 to 30 days. The unlimited plans are throttled and the limit is not stated. Regional and global bundles that cover Ukraine exist too. Its prices in Ukraine were around or above the market average at 2 to 10 GB. In our test the plan started at purchase, not at first connection, so buy it close to your trip, and replies took 15 to 60 minutes each. Best eSIM Plans for Ukraine

Price per GB in Ukraine by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in Ukraine? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

Generated 05.11.2026 09:26

Unlimited plans for Ukraine are sold by eSIM4Travel, Airalo, Yesim and Ubigi, and by Maya as a global plan; GigSky lists a 1-day pass only. Nomad, Saily, GoMoWorld, Jetpac and Roamless sell none. Every unlimited plan except Ubigi's slows down after a daily allowance, and Ubigi's slows after a fair-use cap. For a sense of what each size covers, see how much data you need for a trip. Visitors who also pass through Germany can compare both countries in one search with Ukraine and Germany plans, and our Germany guide covers the other end.

Best eSIM for Lviv, Kyiv and the Carpathians

No provider has 3 or more reports from any city, and eSIM4Travel, our overall option, has no city-level reports at all. So the country-level advice applies everywhere, and the table below shows the one place that has any report.

Where you are goingWhat the reports showOur pick
LvivGoMoWorld 1/1 (too few reports)Country pick applies, no provider has 3 or more reports here

Lviv is the entry point for most visitors who come by train from Poland, and GoMoWorld is the only provider with a report from there. In November 2025 a traveler wrote that the connection covered all of Lviv and the road to the border, and that hotspot sharing worked. That is one report, so it shows the network can work for a travel eSIM there, not that GoMoWorld is proven. Lviv is also one of the four places where 5G is being piloted, along with Borodyanka, Kharkiv and Kyiv [8]. We could not confirm that travel eSIMs can attach to the 5G pilot cells, so treat any provider's "5G in Ukraine" claim as unproven.

There are no traveler reports from Kyiv yet. A contractor reports 4G in all 46 underground metro stations since May 2021, but we found no operator or metro source for it, so we treat it as reported only. There are also no reports from the Carpathians, including the Bukovel ski season from December to March. Reports describe the Carpathian valleys as the known coverage gaps, and no operator map exists to check a route. Kyivstar has the widest 4G footprint [5], and Holafly, Global YO and eSIM4Travel each name Kyivstar among their networks [9] [11] [12], which is a reasonable starting point for mountain trips.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Ukraine

A local prepaid SIM is much cheaper than any travel eSIM, but it needs a shop visit after you arrive, so a travel eSIM wins if you want to be online the moment you cross the border. For anyone with an EU or EEA SIM the best answer is neither, because Ukraine joined the EU Roam Like at Home zone on 1 January 2026 and your home plan works at domestic rates [1] [2]. That makes non-EU travelers, such as visitors from the US, UK, Israel and Turkey, the people who need a Ukraine SIM card for tourists.

Starter packs cost roughly UAH 25 to 150. Typical plans as of August 2026, per 28 days: Kyivstar LOVE UA Світло has 15 GB and 150 minutes for UAH 175, Vodafone Joice Start has 15 GB and 800 minutes for UAH 180, and lifecell Simple Life has 8 GB and 300 minutes for UAH 160. These prices come from the Prepaid Data SIM Card Wiki and Ukrainian tech press, not from the operators' own tariff pages, which we could not read, so check them before you buy.

Local SIMs are sold in operator stores, supermarkets such as ATB or Silpo, a partner electronics chain such as Citrus or Allo, a kiosk or a Nova Poshta pickup point. An airport purchase is not possible: Boryspil, Zhuliany, Lviv and Odesa have had no passenger flights since 24 February 2022, although several provider guides still tell travelers to buy there. Ukrainian sources say no ID is needed to buy or use a prepaid SIM as of mid-2026, but we found no official source for that, and one site tied to an eSIM seller says a passport is required. Mandatory SIM registration is under discussion, with a decision possible during 2026, so check again before your trip.

lifecell sells an eSIM online with no store visit: UAH 25 for the bare eSIM or UAH 150 with UAH 150 of balance, a choice of number and a welcome bonus of 50 GB and 50 domestic minutes for the first 7 days (reported, as of August 2026). Some guides say operator eSIM pages may need a Ukrainian address or card, and we could not confirm this. Kyivstar reportedly rejects most foreign Visa and Mastercard cards for online top-up but accepts Google Pay, and lifecell takes a wider range of foreign cards. A Kyivstar SIM you leave unused can be drained by its periodic charge. A local SIM suits a stay of more than a few days with heavy data, when you can visit a store and handle Ukrainian-language SMS; a travel eSIM suits a short trip with English help and no store visit.

Mobile Networks in Ukraine

Ukraine has three national networks: Kyivstar, Vodafone Ukraine and lifecell, and Kyivstar has the widest coverage. Kyivstar says its 4G reaches 96.2% of the population on government-controlled territory as of March 2026 [5]. Vodafone Ukraine says 93%, a figure dated end of 2024 [6]. We could not confirm a current coverage figure for lifecell. Kyivstar also says it won all three Ookla Speedtest Awards for Ukraine for the second half of 2024 and the first half of 2025. Vodafone led on speed in the second half of 2023 and the first half of 2024, so the lead has flipped before, and we found no newer dataset.

None of the three operators shows a coverage map any more. Each has withdrawn it under martial law [4] [6] [7]. The three networks let a phone fall back to a rival network if its own site is down, at very slow data speeds [3]. We could not confirm whether travel eSIMs get that fallback.

Which provider rides which network is thinly sourced. Holafly says Kyivstar and lifecell [9]. Global YO names Kyivstar and "MTS UKR", an old name for Vodafone Ukraine [11]. eSIM4Travel names Vodafone, Kyivstar and lifecell, and its plans steer between them [12]. Airalo's own pages conflict [10]. Saily's page names none (checked August 2026) [13]. Our comparison tool lists Nomad as Kyivstar and Vodafone and Roamless as MTS, which we could not confirm. No travel eSIM guarantees Kyivstar; only a Kyivstar SIM or eSIM does.

lifecell is switching off 3G in 468 settlements across 17 oblasts, starting 3 September 2026 [8]. A 4G phone is unaffected, but a 3G-only phone may lose data there. 5G is a pilot only, and the operators say 5G traffic is billed as 4G [8]. The bigger risk for a trip is power, not signal: operators run sites on batteries and generators during grid outages, so signal can weaken in a long blackout.

How to Set Up an eSIM for Ukraine

Install the eSIM before you cross the border, on Wi-Fi, because you cannot buy or fix anything in an airport arrivals hall. Most plans start on first connection, not at install, so installing at home is safe.

  1. Check that your phone is unlocked and supports eSIM. If you hold an EU or EEA SIM, check your home plan first.
  2. Buy the plan one or two days before you leave. Our tests found that Yesim started the plan at purchase, and GoMoWorld needs you to press Start in the app. Saily's page gives a 180-day activation window [13].
  3. Install it from the QR code in your email or in the provider's app. Our guides cover adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung.
  4. Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and set it as your mobile data line. Global YO's page says its APN may need to be entered by hand [11].
  5. After you cross, wait a minute for the phone to find a network. If it shows 4G but has no data, check the data line, roaming and APN, then try the eSIM troubleshooting guide.
  6. Keep Wi-Fi in mind for top-ups: most apps stop working at zero data, except GigSky and Ubigi in our tests.

Calls and SMS in Ukraine

Ukraine's calling code is +380, and none of the Ukraine plans in our comparison tool includes calls or SMS. All are data only, so calls go over WhatsApp or a similar app. Some providers sell a number or voice add-on that is not a Ukrainian number: Saily a US number, Roamless in-app calls and a second number, Global YO outgoing internet calls, and Jetpac in-app voice packs.

A Ukrainian number needs a local SIM. Kyivstar, Vodafone and lifecell plans include minutes, and lifecell's welcome bonus on its eSIM includes 50 domestic minutes for the first 7 days (reported, as of August 2026).

Free eSIM Data for Ukraine

Two free trials are usable in Ukraine according to our comparison tool. Roamless lists a free Ukraine trial plan, and its 30-day trial starts when you activate the eSIM. Nomad lists a trial plan with 1 GB for 3 days on 4G/LTE. Check the plan page for the current size before you rely on either. Our free eSIM guide lists other trials.

Frequently Asked Questions About eSIMs in Ukraine

Which is the best eSIM for Ukraine?
Based on price and our tests, we recommend eSIM4Travel, but it has no traveler reports from Ukraine yet. Only 4 reports exist across all providers: GoMoWorld worked in Lviv, while Airalo, Holafly and Maya each had one miss. Holafly's speed was also capped in our test. Compare current plans with (eSIM Comparison).
What is the cheapest eSIM for Ukraine?
eSIM4Travel had the lowest plan prices in our comparison tool at 2, 5 and 10 GB, and Global YO and GoMoWorld were also below average. Holafly sits among the highest for unlimited plans. Prices change, so check the live tables with (eSIM Comparison) before you decide.
Do I need an eSIM for Ukraine if I have an EU SIM?
Probably not. Since 1 January 2026 Ukraine is in the EU Roam Like at Home zone, so an EU or EEA SIM works there at domestic rates within your plan's fair-use limits. Check your operator's terms before you cross. Visitors from the US, UK, Israel and Turkey are the ones who need an eSIM or a local SIM.
Can I buy a Ukraine SIM card for tourists at the airport?
No. Ukrainian airports have had no passenger flights since 24 February 2022, so there is no arrivals hall to buy in. Visitors arrive by train or bus, mostly from Poland. Local SIMs are sold in operator stores, supermarkets and electronics shops, and a travel eSIM can be installed before you cross.
How much data do I need for Ukraine?
It depends on your trip. Maps, messaging and browsing need little, while streaming, video calls and a laptop hotspot need much more. Our data calculator turns your habits into a number (Travel Data Calculator), and the guide to what a 5 GB plan covers helps you check it (How Much Is 5 GB of Data? Examples and Real Use).
Which network is best in Ukraine?
Kyivstar has the widest 4G coverage: it says 96.2% of the population on government-controlled territory. No travel eSIM guarantees a specific network, though, because multi-network plans choose for you. The only way to be sure of Kyivstar is a Kyivstar SIM or eSIM. Carpathian valleys are the known gaps.
Which eSIM works in Lviv?
The only Lviv report is for GoMoWorld: it worked in the city and on the road to the border in November 2025. One report is too few to judge, so no provider is proven in Lviv. Compare plans that name Kyivstar with (eSIM Comparison).

Summary: the best eSIM for Ukraine

The data for Ukraine is thin: 4 traveler reports across all providers, and none of them reaches the 3 reports we need to rank a provider. Based on price and our own tests, the best option for most non-EU travelers is eSIM4Travel, which had the lowest plan prices in our comparison tool at 2, 5 and 10 GB and a human help desk in our test. Its weak points are no app and no reports from Ukraine yet. GoMoWorld has the only positive report, one traveler in Lviv, while Airalo, Holafly and Maya each have one miss, and Holafly's speed was capped in our test.

For the best eSIM for Ukraine, the practical rules are simple: install before you cross the border, check whether your EU or EEA SIM already works at home rates, and treat any network claim as unproven unless the provider names it on its own page. We will update the rankings as more traveler reports from Ukraine come in.
