Key Takeaways

Key takeaways

Based on 64 traveler reports from Czechia and our tests, the best record is Holafly: it worked well for 7 of 7 travelers, most in Prague, but in our test its speed was capped from the start. Global YO (3 of 3) is usually among the two cheapest here; one reviewer had a slow start. Maya Mobile (16 of 17) suits long multi-country trips on one unlimited eSIM; its one miss was in Prague. Nomad (13 of 14) suits experienced users; its misses were slow data, not dead zones. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest here in our comparison, with 2 positive reports so far, but no app.

The best eSIM for Czechia is, for most travelers, one that rides the O2 or Vodafone network, because those are the only two Czech networks any travel eSIM provider names on its own pages; the Opensignal-fastest network, T-Mobile, is reachable only with a local SIM. That matters less than it sounds. Cities and the main road and rail corridors are dense with 4G and 5G, and the regulator ČTÚ, which drives every motorway with a measuring car, confirms that uncovered spots remain only on some motorway sections [1]. Weaker signal is a border-mountain problem (Šumava, Krkonoše) and a deep-valley problem, not a Prague problem.

Two things about Czechia work in your favour. There is no legal requirement to register a prepaid SIM, so a local SIM needs no passport by law; according to the GSMA's policy handbook, Czechia is one of the countries that decided against mandatory registration, and any ID request in a shop is the vendor's own policy. And the country is compact: most trips run Prague to Český Krumlov, Brno or Karlovy Vary by road and rail, so one plan covers the whole trip. Peak season is July to September, with the airport's own summer season running from the end of March to the end of October [4]. We could not confirm which shops sell SIM cards at Václav Havel Airport or what they charge, so plan on buying before you fly or in the city.

This article ranks 14 eSIM providers on 64 traveler reports from Czechia, then on price position and on our own hands-on tests. It also covers Prague, local operator SIMs with a Czech number, the three networks, setup and calls.

Best eSIM Providers for Czechia

eSIM plans in Czechia at a glance

How well each provider's eSIM works in Czechia

The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Czechia. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 64 public customer reviews that mention Czechia or a place in it, published between February 2023 and August 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 16 of 17 means the eSIM worked well for 16 of the 17 travelers who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run from our base (Czechia for Ubigi, Maya Mobile and Roamless, Switzerland or Austria for the rest), so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs on your trip. Local operator prices in the text were checked on 25 September 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.

Holafly is an Irish eSIM provider built around unlimited data, with trip eSIMs for 200+ destinations. Travelers report it working more often than any other provider we track. Its weak points are speed and price: our test ran at about 30 Mbps on 5G, and its unlimited plans cost more than most.

Holafly eSIM in our hands

Holafly testing outdoor Holafly testing support Holafly testing support 2 Holafly testing speed

Holafly is the pick for travelers who want one unlimited eSIM for Prague and the countries around it and do not need full speed. It worked well for 7 of 7 travelers who reported from Czechia (100%), limited evidence, and every one of those reviews describes a multi-country trip or a Prague stay with no gaps: a 12-day loop through five countries, a month across France, Germany, Czechia and Italy, a week in Prague ordering Ubers and using maps. In our hands-on test, though, Holafly's speed was capped from the start, before any data was used. In practice that is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work.

There are no misses to describe in the Czech reports, and no reviewer here complains about speed; the reports count whether the eSIM connected, and ours all did. Two product limits apply, though: the hotspot is capped at about 1 GB a day according to Holafly's own Czech page (as of August 2026) [12], and there are no top-ups, so a plan that runs out means buying a new eSIM. A Holafly reviewer wrote on 5 Aug 2026: "Used in Prague, very stable connection during my entire stay."

Holafly sells only unlimited trip eSIMs priced by the day, and its Czech page listed Vodafone and O2 as its networks when we checked in August 2026 [12]; earlier third-party listings named O2 only, so we would re-check before relying on two networks. Its fair-use rule applies but is not quantified on the page. Installation is one tap with no QR code, and the eSIM cannot be reinstalled once deleted. On price it is unlimited-only and about a tenth dearer than other unlimited plans in our comparison, the most expensive unlimited offer in about half of the countries we compared. Our comparison tool had no Holafly plan for Czechia at export time, so there is no plan table here; the Holafly test has the speed finding and the purchase flow. It suits "do not think about data" travelers and anyone combining Czechia with Germany or Switzerland; it does not suit laptop tethering or anyone on a budget. Holafly is bought on its site or in its app.

Global YO eSIM in our hands

Global YO testing outdoor Global YO testing speed 1 Global YO testing speed 2 Global YO testing support

Global YO is the pick for price-driven travelers who install at home and will not need the help desk. It worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from Czechia (100%), limited evidence, and two of them describe exactly that: a first-time eSIM user with good coverage across the UK, Germany, Austria, Czechia and Turkey, and a traveler who needed Montenegro, Czechia and Hungary on one eSIM and found it easy to buy and install.

The third report counts as worked but is the one to read before buying. That reviewer wrote on 5 Jan 2025: "For Czech it was an issue even to make it working from the first time," and lost about half a day without data before it ran. In our own test the help desk took ten minutes for a first, generic reply and more than half an hour for a follow-up, so a slow start is yours to fix. Install the eSIM at home and switch mobile data to it before you land; the app handles the install, but you set the data line and the APN yourself.

What sets Global YO apart is price: it is usually the second cheapest provider in our comparison and never the most expensive in a popular destination, and it gets cheaper as plans grow. Its Czech ladder in our comparison tool runs from 1 GB for 3 days through 3 and 5 GB for 15 days and 10 and 20 GB for 30 days up to 50 GB for 45 days and 100 GB for 60 days, plus Day Plans for 3 to 30 days with a daily allowance that its own listing states two ways, so check the allowance before buying; there is no unlimited plan. Europe Explorer and Global Explorer regional plans also cover Czechia. Purchase is app-only, the app dies at zero data, and a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled, all of which the Global YO test shows. Global YO did not name a Czech network on its page when we checked in August 2026.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands

Maya Mobile testing preview Maya Mobile testing speed 1 Maya Mobile testing speed 2 Maya Mobile testing support

Maya Mobile is the pick for a week or more across Czechia and its neighbours on one eSIM with no data limit to watch. It worked well for 16 of 17 travelers who reported from Czechia (94%), the largest report base of any provider here, limited evidence by our threshold but close to strong. The successes share a pattern: Central European loops through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia on trains, a family trip with four devices on it, a six-month user with no issue. One reviewer mentions the hotspot helping travel companions with worse connections.

The one miss was in Prague: a reviewer on 25 Dec 2024 said the eSIM did not work at all on that trip, with no detail on why. One four-star reviewer in Czechia, Austria, Italy and Slovenia found the speed could be better; that one still counts as worked. A Maya reviewer in Prague wrote on 21 Oct 2024: "Within 5 mins I received QR code and it started working instantly." Maya Mobile is one of the three providers we tested from Czechia itself, and 5G came up at once after setting the APN and roaming.

Maya sells only one product: a global unlimited plan for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days that covers Czechia among 165 or more countries, with 5 GB a day at full speed and a slowdown after that, listed as the most generous fair-use rule in our price comparison; a Global and Cruise variant costs several times more. In our test the slowdown kicked in after roughly the daily allowance and reset the next day, the fairest unlimited we tested. It is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison by a wide margin, but it sells nothing small, so a two-day Prague trip pays for a three-day plan. The help desk reached a person in about nine minutes with template replies. It did not name a Czech network on its page when we checked in August 2026. The Maya Mobile test has the setup steps; Maya Mobile sends the QR code by email as well as showing it in the app.

Nomad eSIM in our hands

Nomad testing preview Nomad testing speed 1 Nomad testing speed 2 Nomad testing support

Nomad is the pick for experienced eSIM users who want a fixed-data plan with a good app and can live without a help desk. It worked well for 13 of 14 travelers who reported from Czechia (93%), limited evidence. The successes cover Prague, rural villages and multi-country trips through Germany, Austria, Poland and Hungary; one reviewer had strong signal from cities to quiet countryside villages, another found reception reliable in and outside the big cities, and a third praised the 30-day UK and Europe package for a long trip.

The misses were slow or spotty data, not dead zones. The one report counted as a failure came from a traveler who had good connections elsewhere but trouble connecting in Prague. Two four-star reviewers still counted as worked: one found the internet "a bit slow" over four days in Prague, another had to restart the phone when crossing borders. One three-star reviewer in June 2026 called the connection spotty and slow through Czechia and Austria. A Nomad reviewer wrote on 17 Jul 2026: "Coverage in rural Czechia was mostly good, with only a couple weak signal experiences."

Nomad's Czech plans in our comparison tool run from 1 GB for 3 or 7 days through 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB for 30 days, plus unlimited for 3, 5, 7 or 10 days at 2 GB a day before a slowdown, and the 3-day 1 GB plan is a trial. Regional Europe and Global plans also cover Czechia. Its Czech page did not name a network when we checked in August 2026, saying only "more than one local network", and gives a 60-day window to activate before the plan starts on its own [17]; third parties report O2 and Vodafone, and our comparison tool lists O2. On price it sits slightly below the market average in our comparison, though dearer in Europe than elsewhere. The drawback is the help desk: in our test the bot looped on an APN question and offered no route to a person, as the Nomad test shows, which is why it sits behind the two picks above despite the better app. Nomad has a home-screen widget for remaining data that no other provider offers.

eSIM4Travel is the pick for anyone who wants the lowest price for a fixed amount of data and a human on the help desk. Only 2 travelers have reported from Czechia so far, both positive, which is too few to judge the country record. What the files do show is price: it is the cheapest provider for Czechia in our comparison tool at every size from 3 GB to 10 GB, and the cheapest in our price comparison overall. In our hands-on test the help desk was the best we tried: a short bot, one click to a person, who solved the problem and added a tip to switch network.

There are no misses to report. The one detailed Czech review, from 1 Apr 2024, says: "It took about 10 minutes to start working but once it did, it was fantastic." Our test, run in Switzerland, not Czechia, found the eSIM installed from a QR code and worked right away with no sign of throttling. Its Czech plan names in our comparison tool list T-Mobile, O2 and Vodafone, and its own page says it "combines multiple major carriers" (as of August 2026) [18]; the three-network claim is reported only, so we would not count on reaching T-Mobile.

Its Czech plans in our comparison tool: 500 MB and 1 GB day passes, 1 GB for 7 days, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB for 30 days, and unlimited from 3 to 30 days at 3 GB a day before a slowdown, with tethering allowed and validity starting on the first connection. Best Europe 41 and Global 72 regional plans also cover Czechia. The downsides stay: no app, no Google Pay, card details typed by hand, and no way to top up without Wi-Fi once the data runs out. The eSIM4Travel test shows the purchase and the help-desk chat. eSIM4Travel sends the QR code by email, so it also works for a gift or a family member's phone.

Ubigi testing preview Ubigi testing speed 1 Ubigi testing speed 2 Ubigi testing support

Ubigi is a fair choice for tech-savvy travelers who want 10 GB or more at a low price and will never need help. It worked well for 3 of 4 travelers who reported from Czechia (75%), limited evidence. The two successes used it across Prague, Austria, Germany, Paris, Munich, Venice and Vienna with no issues and praised the in-app install. The miss, on 5 May 2026, is a plan that did not start on landing: "Ubigi service did not kick in when I landed in Prague," and it connected only on the second day. Ubigi's plans start on the first connection in the destination, so a slow start cannot be fixed at home, and in our test the help desk never answered a ticket in 24 hours, the worst outcome we had.

Ubigi is the one provider in this group with a verified network: its Czech product page named O2 Czech Republic when we checked on 25 Sep 2026 [14], and it is one of the three providers we tested from Czechia itself, with no throttling in that test. The Czech plans in our comparison tool are 3 GB for 15 days, 10 GB for 7 or 30 days, 25 and 50 GB for 30 days, and unlimited for 7 or 15 days with a disclosed fair-use slowdown [14]; there is no 5 GB or 20 GB size. Europe and World plans also cover Czechia. A rare plus: you can buy more data with a zero balance. On price it sits just below the market average overall and is cheap at 10 GB. The Ubigi test shows the clunky site and app that keep it out of the first-eSIM category. Ubigi emails the QR code within a minute.

Airalo eSIM in our hands

Airalo testing outdoor Airalo testing speed 1 Airalo testing speed 2 Airalo testing support

Airalo has the weakest Czech record of any provider with enough reports to judge, and most of its misses are in Prague. It worked well for 3 of 7 travelers who reported from Czechia (43%), limited evidence. The failures are specific: an unlimited plan bought in Prague that never delivered data during a three-night stay, a service that did not work in Prague at the end of June 2026, a reviewer who found coverage in Prague "constantly not working", and a traveler on the regional Eurolink unlimited plan who could not connect in the Czech countryside in July 2026 while locals on Vodafone had signal. A reviewer who has used Airalo worldwide wrote on 15 Aug 2026: "Prague was absolutely horrible." The one detailed success is a 14-day Prague and London trip that worked throughout.

Airalo's Czech plans, branded Prosím, run from 1 GB to 50 GB with validity from 3 to 30 days, plus unlimited for 3 to 30 days at 3 GB a day before a slowdown; its Czech page names O2 as the primary network with one other network left unnamed, and listed a data, calls and texts plan with a local number when we checked in August 2026 [11]. Eurolink, EUconnect and Discover regional plans also cover Czechia, and Discover+ adds calls and texts. On price it sits at the market average in our comparison, never the cheapest in a popular destination. Its purchase flow and install were among the smoothest we tested, as the Airalo test shows, so it might still suit a first eSIM for someone who needs calls, but the Czech reports say to have a backup in Prague. Airalo sells on the web without the app.

Roamless eSIM in our hands

Roamless testing preview Roamless testing speed 1 Roamless testing speed 2 Roamless testing support

Roamless suits frequent travelers who use little data in many countries and want credit that does not expire. Only 2 travelers have reported from Czechia, both positive, too few to judge: one used it in Czechia and Texas, the other spent five months across the UK and eight European countries including Czechia and said it picked up networks the moment they crossed a border. No misses to describe.

Roamless sells one global eSIM with pay-as-you-go credit at a flat per-GB rate, 30-day Czech plans from 1 GB, no-expiration credit bundles up to 200 GB and a free trial plan, all listed as Vodafone in our comparison tool with no throttling; Europe and Global 30-day plans also cover Czechia. It is one of the three providers we tested from Czechia: the preselected APN did not work until we switched it by hand, and speed tests failed until we switched network manually, as the Roamless test shows. On price it is second cheapest for 1 GB but among the dearest from 10 GB up, so it is a light-use product. A trickle of data stays on at zero balance, enough to buy more credit. Roamless is bought in its app only.

ByteSIM eSIM in our hands

ByteSIM testing preview ByteSIM testing speed 1 ByteSIM testing speed 2 ByteSIM testing support

ByteSIM suits experienced users who want to pay with a local wallet and do not mind a clumsy checkout. Only 2 travelers have reported from Czechia, both positive, too few to judge. One crossed from Berlin into Czechia, lost connectivity with an "E" error, and got reconnected through a prompt WhatsApp reply with steps they could repeat at each border; the other, in 2023, had good signal from Brussels through Munich and Prague to Vienna and could even make calls, with the only gap on high-speed rail. So the misses were border handovers that the help desk fixed, not dead zones.

Our comparison tool had no ByteSIM plan for Czechia at export time, so there is no plan table; ByteSIM's own Czech page, checked in August 2026, lists daily plans from 300 MB a day up to 50 GB for 1 to 30 days, unlimited, and names O2 as its network [13]. There are no top-ups. In our test the WhatsApp desk that promises a reply in minutes gave none in 15 minutes, the app threw install errors and the checkout demanded a full postal address, as the ByteSIM test shows; the Czech reviewer got a far quicker reply than we did. On price it sits at the market average, cheaper for short trips. ByteSIM emails the eSIM within minutes.

Jetpac suits frequent flyers who want hotspot, in-app calls and lounge access more than a polished app. Only 2 travelers have reported from Czechia, both positive and both from 2024 road trips through Czechia, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Germany, one of them a month around EuroCup 2024. No misses to describe.

Its Czech plans in our comparison tool are 3, 5 and 10 GB packs valid for a single day, 15 GB for 7 days, 20, 30 and 40 GB for 30 days, and unlimited from 3 to 30 days, all marked 5G; our review puts the unlimited allowance at 3 GB a day before a slowdown, and for the Czech plans that figure is reported only. Europe and Global packs also cover Czechia. Jetpac keeps WhatsApp, Maps, Uber and Grab working after the data runs out on packs of 3 GB or more, and offers free lounge access if a flight is delayed an hour or more. Its page did not name a Czech network when we checked in August 2026; third parties report O2 and Vodafone. On price it is above the market average for 3 to 20 GB. The Jetpac test shows the slow site and rough app. Jetpac sends the eSIM by email.

GigSky eSIM in our hands

GigSky suits travelers who may run out of data far from Wi-Fi, because its app stays online at zero data so you can buy more. Only 2 travelers have reported from Czechia, both positive, too few to judge: both used it in Prague on wider European trips through Paris, Germany, Austria and Frankfurt with no complaint. No misses to describe.

Its Czech plans in our comparison tool are 1 GB for 7 days, 3 GB for 15 days, 5 and 10 GB for 30 days, 50 GB for 90 days and 100 GB for 180 days, with no Czech unlimited; Europe and cruise plans add 1-day unlimited passes, which GigSky says slow after 2.5 GB a day [15]. Its page did not name a Czech network when we checked in August 2026. On price it is the most expensive provider overall in our comparison, at market in big European markets but far above it in many others. The help desk answered at once in our test, as the GigSky test shows, but the app must be installed to buy. GigSky also sells cruise plans that include Czechia on land.

Yesim suits experienced users who want unlimited data sold by the day and will not need help. Only 1 traveler has reported from Czechia, positive, which is too few to judge. The Czech plan family in our comparison tool is the widest of any provider: fixed plans from 500 MB for a day up to 30 GB for 30 days, and unlimited for any length from 1 to 30 days; Europe and Global bundles and a Day Pass also cover Czechia. Its page says speeds may be limited under the network operator's fair-use policy without giving a number, and did not name a Czech network when we checked in August 2026 [16].

Two findings place it here. Our plan started at purchase rather than on first use, so buy close to the trip or use the "activate later" option, and replies from the help desk took 15 to 60 minutes each, among the slowest we tested, as the Yesim test shows. On price its fixed plans are above the market average in our comparison while its unlimited plans sit at it. Yesim emails the eSIM instantly and takes PayPal, Klarna and iDEAL.

Saily eSIM in our hands

Saily testing outdoor Saily testing speed 1 Saily testing speed 2 Saily testing support

Saily is the choice for a first eSIM if the app and help desk matter more than price. Only 1 traveler has reported from Czechia, positive and telling: on 17 May 2026 a US traveler whose carrier's roaming plan was too slow for maps in Prague switched to Saily and said it "saved my trip". That is one report, too few to judge the network record. In our hands-on test Saily had the smoothest install we tried, in-app with no QR code, and a help desk that reached a fast, respectful person.

Its Czech plans in our comparison tool are 1 GB for 7 days, 3, 5, 10 and 20 GB for 30 days, and unlimited for 15 days at 5 GB a day before a slowdown; Europe and Global plans also cover Czechia. Networks are never published, so the Czech network is unknown. The finding against it is price: it is above the market average in most countries in our comparison and among the two most expensive in many popular destinations, as the Saily test explains, and the app goes offline at zero data. It adds a free VPN location and ad blocker. Saily is bought in its app only.

GoMoWorld eSIM in our hands

GoMoWorld suits heavy data users in Europe who will set the plan up in the app and will not need help on a weekend. There are no traveler reports from Czechia yet, so the country record is unknown. In our hands-on test, run in Austria, it was the fastest provider we measured with no throttling even after heavy daily use, and it is run by eir, the Irish operator.

Its Czech plans in our comparison tool are 4 GB for 7 days and 15, 50 and 75 GB for 30 days, all marked 5G with tethering, and a Europe plan with 2.5 to 35 GB also covers Czechia; there is no unlimited and no calls. The plan starts only when you press Start or schedule it, which is the most common cause of "not working" we see, and the eSIM lives in the app only, one account per device. Its page did not name a Czech network when we checked in August 2026. On price it sits below the market average and is best from 5 GB up, poor value for 1 GB. Human help is office hours only, as the GoMoWorld test shows. GoMoWorld bans use in your home country.

Best eSIM Plans for Czechia

Price per GB in Czechia by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in Czechia? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

The tables below show the cheapest current plans at each size. For a short Prague break, 2 GB covers maps, messaging and a few photos; a week with video calls or streaming sits closer to 10 GB, and our guide to how much data you need works through the typical cases. Most Czech reviews describe multi-country trips, and every provider in our comparison tool also sells a Europe or global plan that covers Czechia, so compare plans that cover both Czechia and Germany if you are crossing the border.

Best eSIM for Prague and Rural Czechia

Prague is the only place in Czechia with enough reports to judge on its own, 26 in all. Rural Czechia and the border mountains have no reports of their own; what we know about them comes from the network data in the research and from reviews that mention the countryside in passing.

Where you are goingWhat the reports showOur pick
PragueHolafly 3/3, Maya Mobile 3/4, Nomad 5/6, Ubigi 2/3, Airalo 1/5, ByteSIM 1/1, GigSky 2/2, Yesim 1/1, Saily 1/1Holafly (speed capped in our test; Nomad is the full-speed alternative with 5 of 6)

Best eSIM for Prague

Holafly is the pick for Prague because all 3 of its Prague reports worked and none describes a gap, though its speed was capped from the start in our test. Nomad is the full-speed alternative with 5 of 6: its one Prague miss was a traveler who had trouble connecting in the city, and one four-star reviewer found it "a bit slow" over four days there. Maya Mobile's 3 of 4 includes its only Czech failure, a reviewer who said it did not work at all in Prague in December 2024; the three successes describe instant starts and stable data. Ubigi's one Prague miss was a plan that did not start on landing and connected on the second day.

The clearest Prague finding is against Airalo: 1 of 5 worked, with reviewers describing data that never arrived on an unlimited plan, coverage "constantly not working" and a visit that was "absolutely horrible". No review describes what happened at Václav Havel Airport itself; only the Ubigi review mentions landing, and it reports a problem. For a Prague eSIM on a budget, Global YO and eSIM4Travel have no Prague-specific reports, so the country-level findings apply.

No traveler reports from the Šumava or Krkonoše mountains yet. The research shows the gaps in Czech coverage sit in those border forests and in deep valleys, not in the cities, and ČTÚ's own motorway measurements still find uncovered spots on some sections [1]. For a rural trip, the regulator's coverage portal is the only neutral map of all three operators [2], and Vodafone's own map is the one to check for Holafly and Roamless [5]. In the reviews, Nomad's one rural reviewer found coverage mostly good with a couple of weak spots, while Airalo's regional plan failed one reviewer in the countryside.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Czechia

A local SIM beats a travel eSIM in Czechia when you want a Czech number with calls, a week of unlimited data at a low price, or the T-Mobile network; a travel eSIM wins when you want data working before you land, a plan of 1 to 10 GB, or one plan for several countries. Vodafone's Tourist SIM Card, under terms effective 29 Apr 2026, costs a recommended 349 Kč and includes a week of unlimited data (capped at 16 GB in the EU) plus 100 Kč of credit valid 45 days, for new customers, sold in Vodafone stores and marked partner outlets while stocks last [6]. That undercuts every seven-day unlimited travel eSIM in the research and adds a number; it loses on the store visit and on pre-arrival setup.

T-Mobile's prepaid brand is Twist, sold in T-Mobile shops, its eShop, supermarkets and newsstands with data cards of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 GB; the 10 GB monthly card renews at 422.10 Kč and the 3 GB card at 215.20 Kč, as of September 2026 [7]. Twist is also sold as a fully digital eSIM managed in the Můj T-Mobile app [8], and it is the only way for a visitor to get onto the network Opensignal rates fastest. O2's GO prepaid cards need a minimum top-up of 300 Kč and stay valid 12 months from the last top-up [9]; a GO SIM converts to an eSIM free in the Moje O2 app [10]. O2 also sells an English-language tourist prepaid eSIM, but we could not confirm its current price or data allowance.

Three things to know before you walk in. There is no legal prepaid registration in Czechia, so a passport request is store policy, not law. A new Vodafone prepaid eSIM still comes as physical packaging with a paper QR voucher, shipped by post for remote orders, so there is no instant digital issue for a new number [6], and operator self-service apps need a Czech number to log in, so the first eSIM is issued in-store. And we could not confirm which shops sell SIMs at Václav Havel Airport or what they charge, so buy in the city or take a travel eSIM for the first day. For light use of 1 to 3 GB, eSIM4Travel and Saily undercut any local product in the research; for 10 GB, Ubigi, Yesim and Airalo come in below the Twist 10 GB card unless you need the +420 number.

Mobile Networks in Czechia

Czechia has three networks, T-Mobile, O2 and Vodafone, and the travel eSIMs cluster on the last two. According to Opensignal's February 2026 report, T-Mobile is the best network in Czechia with the fastest overall and 5G speeds, while O2 won the 5G coverage experience award in the February 2025 report, meaning its customers connect to 5G in more places, and Vodafone shared the availability and reliability awards that year. ČTÚ's 2025 annual report, as relayed by Lupa.cz and Forbes.cz, puts the active-SIM shares at 38% T-Mobile, 33% O2 and 25% Vodafone. Every provider that names its Czech network names O2 (Airalo, ByteSIM, Ubigi) or Vodafone and O2 (Holafly); the T-Mobile mention in eSIM4Travel's plan names is reported only, and Nomad and Jetpac are reported on O2 and Vodafone by third parties. Saily, Yesim, GigSky, Global YO, GoMoWorld, Roamless and Maya Mobile did not name a network on their pages when we checked in August 2026.

Two network facts are worth knowing. T-Mobile and O2 do not run two fully separate physical networks: under sharing agreements the European Commission reviewed in 2022, T-Mobile operates the shared grid in the west of the country and CETIN, O2's infrastructure company, in the east, each carrying the other in its half [3]. So an O2-based eSIM in Plzeň or Karlovy Vary is physically on T-Mobile's equipment, and vice versa in Brno or Ostrava. And ČTÚ measures all motorways itself, every 25 metres including tunnels, and still finds uncovered spots on some sections [1]; its coverage portal shows all three operators' simulated coverage, drive tests and crowdsourced speed results in one place [2].

For a trip this means Prague, Brno and the road and rail corridors are fine on any of the picks above. The gaps are in the border mountains (Šumava, Krkonoše) and deep valleys, where ČTÚ's chairman said in a 2026 outlook that around 1,800 small settlement units, the regulator's "white spots", still lack full coverage from any operator, with new licence conditions requiring each operator to fill hundreds of them and keeping 2G running until 2028. O2's 700 MHz spectrum carries a national roaming obligation. Vodafone publishes its own coverage map [5]; O2 and T-Mobile publish theirs too, but the ČTÚ portal is the neutral one. Our guide to eSIMs with several networks explains how to switch operator by hand when a provider lists more than one.

How to Set Up an eSIM for Czechia

Install before you fly. With every provider here except Yesim and GoMoWorld, the plan starts on the first connection in Czechia, not at install, so the eSIM can sit on your phone for weeks; Yesim's plan started at purchase in our test, and GoMoWorld's does nothing until you press Start. Nomad gives 60 days to activate before the plan starts on its own [17], and Ubigi's unscanned QR code stays valid for six months.

  1. Check your phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable; our list of eSIM-capable phones covers the models.
  2. Buy the plan at home on Wi-Fi. Saily, GoMoWorld, Roamless and GigSky sell in the app only; Global YO needs the app to buy but emails the QR code; the rest email a QR code.
  3. Install it: scan the QR code or let the app add it. Adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung walk through both menus.
  4. Keep the eSIM line off until you land, then turn it on, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming. Maya Mobile and Global YO need the APN set to "globaldata", Ubigi to "mobiledata", GigSky to "gigsky"; Roamless's preselected APN did not work in our test until we chose the Proximus one.
  5. If data does not start, restart the phone and switch network by hand; two Czech reviewers (Nomad, Simify) fixed drops at borders with a restart. Our troubleshooting guide covers the rest.

Calls and SMS in Czechia

Czechia's calling code is +420, and most of the travel eSIMs here are data-only, so calls go over WhatsApp or a similar app. The exceptions in the files: Airalo's Czech page listed a data, calls and texts plan with a local number when we checked in August 2026 [11], and its Discover+ global plans in our comparison tool include calls and texts; Jetpac sells in-app voice packs; Roamless has in-app calling and an optional second number; Global YO makes outgoing calls through its own app; Saily sells a US number add-on; ByteSIM sells local-number plans in some regions, and one of its Czech reviewers made calls with included minutes in 2023. Our test found Jetpac's calls showed the recipient a US number.

If you need a Czech number for restaurant bookings or a delivery driver, the local SIM section above is the answer: the Vodafone Tourist SIM and O2's GO cards come with a number and credit for calls. For everything else, Wi-Fi calling through your home SIM and a data-only eSIM for the rest is the cheaper combination.

Free eSIM Data for Czechia

Four providers give free data you can use in Czechia. Roamless lists a free trial plan for Czechia in our comparison tool, with a small allowance that starts on activation. GigSky gives new users a free 100 MB trial eSIM, as its Czech page says [15]. Nomad's 3-day 1 GB Czech plan is marked as a trial in our comparison tool. Holafly's Always On feature gives 1 GB a month after a plan ends if you keep the eSIM installed, according to its Czech page [12]. GoMoWorld offers a free one-day trial on selected destinations, but we could not confirm Czechia is one of them. Our round-up of free eSIM trials has the terms for each.

Frequently Asked Questions About eSIMs in Czechia

Which eSIM works best in Czechia?
Holafly had the best record in traveler reports from Czechia, 7 of 7, most of them in Prague on multi-country trips, but in our test its speed was capped from the start. Most travelers use 3 to 5 GB in a week of maps, messaging and social media in Czechia, and streaming or video calls push that towards 10 GB. Czech reviewers on 20 GB for 30 days called it more than enough. For a number based on your own habits, use (Travel Data Calculator).
Which eSIM works best in Prague?
Holafly worked for all 3 of its Prague reporters, with its speed capped in our test, and Nomad for 5 of 6, with one reviewer who had trouble connecting and one who found it a bit slow. Airalo had the weakest Prague record, 1 of 5, with reviewers describing data that never arrived and coverage that kept dropping. Ubigi's one Prague miss was a plan that started a day late.
Can I buy a Czechia SIM card for tourists at the airport?
We could not confirm which shops sell SIM cards at Prague's Václav Havel Airport or what they charge, so the safe plan is a travel eSIM installed before you fly. In the city, Vodafone's Tourist SIM Card gives a week of unlimited data and a Czech number under terms from April 2026, and T-Mobile's Twist prepaid cards are sold in shops, supermarkets and newsstands; no passport is required by law.
Which network does a Czechia eSIM use?
Every provider that names its Czech network uses O2 or Vodafone: Airalo, ByteSIM and Ubigi name O2, and Holafly names Vodafone and O2. T-Mobile, which Opensignal rates as the fastest Czech network, is reached only with a local SIM. T-Mobile and O2 share one physical grid, T-Mobile in the west and O2's CETIN in the east, so an O2 eSIM rides T-Mobile equipment in Plzeň and the reverse in Brno.
Do I need an unlimited eSIM for Czechia?
Only if you stream or tether every day; unlimited plans here slow down after a daily allowance, 2 GB with Nomad, 3 GB with Airalo and eSIM4Travel, 5 GB with Saily and Maya Mobile, and Holafly's is capped from the start in our test. For a week of maps and messaging, a 5 GB fixed plan from a cheap provider costs less. Vodafone's local Tourist SIM is the cheapest week of unlimited data in the research.

Summary: the best eSIM for Czechia

Based on 64 traveler reports from Czechia and our tests, Holafly has the best record, 7 of 7, with all of its reviewers in Prague or on multi-country trips, and its weakness is speed capped from the start in our test, plus a 1 GB-a-day hotspot and no top-ups. Global YO worked for 3 of 3 and is usually among the two cheapest in our comparison; its weakness is a slow help desk, which matters less when the eSIM is installed at home. Maya Mobile worked for 16 of 17 and suits a week or more across several countries on one unlimited eSIM; its one miss was in Prague and it sells nothing shorter than three days. Nomad worked for 13 of 14 and suits experienced users; its misses were slow data, and its help desk had no route to a person in our test.

eSIM4Travel is the cheapest for Czechia in our comparison with a human help desk and only 2 positive reports so far, and no app. If you need a Czech number or a cheap week of unlimited data, Vodafone's Tourist SIM beats them all in the city. For most trips, the best eSIM for Czechia is one of these five, chosen by whether you value the Prague record, the price or the lack of a data limit most.
