Best eSIM for Jordan in 2026: 14 Providers Ranked by Traveler Reports

Best eSIM Jordan
Key Takeaways

Key takeaways

Based on 28 traveler reports from Jordan and our tests, the best option for trips of a week or more is Maya Mobile: it worked well for 4 of 5 travelers, with the cheapest unlimited plans here but no small plans. Holafly also worked for 4 of 5, in Amman, Petra and the Dead Sea, but its speed is capped from the start. GoMoWorld (3 of 4) suits heavy data and Wadi Rum, but is app-only. Yesim (2 of 3) has flexible daily plans and a very slow help desk. Airalo (4 of 8) is easy to set up but has the weakest record, failing twice in Amman.

The best eSIM for Jordan is hard to pin down with certainty, because Jordan has few public traveler reports. We counted 28 from Jordan across 8 providers, and only 5 providers have 3 or more. Maya Mobile and Holafly came out on top, with 4 of 5 reports positive for each. The sections below say what went wrong for the rest.

Most trips follow one line from north to south: Amman, the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Red Sea at Aqaba. Three operators run the mobile networks: Zain, Orange and Umniah [1]. Coverage follows towns and main roads. Travel sources report dead zones in the Siq at Petra, on the Ad-Deir climb, in Wadi Mujib and Dana, and at Wadi Rum camps behind rock walls, while Wadi Rum village and the Petra visitor centre normally have service. 5G is a city extra: it is still only a little over 5% of mobile subscriptions [1].

Most travel eSIMs we checked ride Zain, and Roamless rides Umniah. Local SIMs are sold at the airport, but they need your passport. In June and July, Jordan's regulator has blocked messaging apps around exam halls during exam hours, and Jordan News reported the latest block for 23 to 30 July 2026. Installing your eSIM at home, before the flight, is the safer path.

Best eSIM Providers for Jordan

eSIM plans in Jordan at a glance

How well each provider's eSIM works in Jordan

The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Jordan. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 28 public customer reviews that mention Jordan or a place in it, published between February 2025 and August 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 4 of 5 means the eSIM worked well for 4 of the 5 travelers who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run outside Jordan, so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here. Local operator prices in the text were checked on 25 September 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands

Maya Mobile testing preview Maya Mobile testing speed 1 Maya Mobile testing speed 2 Maya Mobile testing support

Maya Mobile is the pick for travelers who want unlimited data for a week or more. It worked well for 4 of 5 travelers who reported from Jordan (80%), a limited but clean record that ties Holafly. Maya is placed first because its unlimited plans are usually the cheapest here. The successes name Amman, and one reviewer in May 2025 wrote that Maya "covered excellent every part of Jordan".

The reviews that report trouble point to the phone or the border crossing, not to Jordan's coverage. A Samsung stopped working after a trip from Egypt in December 2025, while a Pixel on the same account kept working. A February 2025 review says an eSIM would not connect. Both reviewers praised the help desk, which answered within minutes in one case.

Maya sells only global unlimited plans, valid for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, and its own page shows no Jordan-only plan. That means nothing for a weekend or a light user. Full speed runs up to a daily allowance, then slows, the fairest unlimited rule in our Maya review. The drawbacks are a help desk that is only fair (a WhatsApp form before a human answers) and manual APN and roaming settings. Maya does not name its Jordan network on its page (checked September 2026). You can see the Maya plans here.

Holafly is an Irish eSIM provider built around unlimited data, with trip eSIMs for 200+ destinations. Travelers report it working more often than any other provider we track. Its weak points are speed and price: our test ran at about 30 Mbps on 5G, and its unlimited plans cost more than most.

Holafly eSIM in our hands

Holafly testing outdoor Holafly testing support Holafly testing support 2 Holafly testing speed

Holafly is the pick for travelers who want unlimited data and no setup thinking, but in our test its speed was capped from the start. It worked well for 4 of 5 travelers who reported from Jordan (80%). In practice the cap is fine for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. The hotspot is limited to 1 GB a day and there are no top-ups. A reviewer in May 2026 wrote that the connection was "reliable in most places I visited, including Amman, Petra, and the Dead Sea".

The one miss came from an Israeli traveler in July 2026. Data either did not work, was very slow, or kept freezing and disconnecting, which the reviewer contrasted with better trips elsewhere. The other reports describe quick activation and no gaps, but they name few places, so one bad report weighs more than usual here.

Holafly sells unlimited plans priced by day, and its page names Zain Jordan as the network (as of September 2026; third-party sources from 2023 to 2025 said Umniah). Our comparison tool listed no Holafly plan for Jordan at export, so there is no live plan table below; Holafly's own page lists unlimited Jordan plans. It is usually the dearest unlimited option in our comparison, and plans can be refunded when unused. Details are in our Holafly review. Holafly's Jordan page shows the current plans.

GoMoWorld eSIM in our hands

GoMoWorld testing preview GoMoWorld testing speed 1 GoMoWorld testing speed 2 GoMoWorld testing support

GoMoWorld is the pick for heavy data and desert trips, with the best speed result in our test and no throttling. It worked well for 3 of 4 travelers who reported from Jordan (75%). The successes are the most specific of any provider: in August 2026 a traveler wrote that "our eSIM connection remained stable, even in the Wadi Rum desert", and a French traveler in May 2025 described coverage "even in remote corners" with no GPS drops.

The miss was a couple from Germany in July 2026 whose two eSIMs both failed. The review does not say why. In our test GoMoWorld does nothing until you press Start in the app (or schedule it), and that is a common reason for "not working". Each traveler also needs their own account, because one account holds one device.

The Jordan plans run from 1.8 GB to 27 GB, valid for 7 or 30 days, with tethering allowed and no clock until you activate. There is no unlimited plan and no calls. The eSIM is delivered only inside the app, and the help desk is a good bot with human staff in office hours only. GoMoWorld sits slightly below the market on price, and it does not name its Jordan network on its page (checked September 2026). Our verdict is in the GoMoWorld review. You can see the plans on GoMoWorld.

Yesim eSIM in our hands

Yesim testing outdoor Yesim testing speed 1 Yesim testing speed 2 Yesim testing support

Yesim suits experienced travelers who want day-based unlimited plans and can fix problems alone. It worked well for 2 of 3 travelers who reported from Jordan (67%), the thinnest record in the Best group. The one miss was at the Treasury in Petra. The review texts in our set carry no Jordan story for Yesim, so we know the place but not the cause.

Yesim sells Jordan plans from 0.1 GB to 10 GB, valid for 1 to 30 days, plus unlimited plans that are throttled at a limit it does not publish. Middle East and global bundles also cover Jordan. We could not confirm its Jordan network, because its site did not load for us. In our test the plan started at purchase, so it is best bought close to the trip, and the help desk was among the slowest we tried, at 15 to 60 minutes per reply (see the best customer support ranking).

Its fixed country plans are dear and its unlimited plans sit at the market price. Our full test is in the Yesim review. Yesim's Jordan page has the current plans.

Airalo eSIM in our hands

Airalo testing outdoor Airalo testing speed 1 Airalo testing speed 2 Airalo testing support

Airalo is in the Best group because of its report volume and its easy purchase and app, but it has the weakest Jordan record of the five: it worked well for 4 of 8 travelers who reported from Jordan (50%). Both Amman reports were failures. The positive reviews do not name a place in Jordan.

The misses share one pattern: the phone shows a connection but no data loads. In August 2026 a traveler in Amman wrote that the iPhone showed "5G and 4 bars" but could not load a web page. Another Amman traveler had bars and no internet for the whole trip. In July 2026 a traveler said the plan never connected in Jordan and Bahrain although the app showed a connection, and a fifth reviewer called it "very bad in Jordan". One more complaint was about 6 GB used in under 24 hours. This looks like a data problem on the network side, not missing coverage.

Airalo sells Jordan-only plans from 1 GB to 20 GB, valid for 3 to 30 days, and its page names Zain Jordan. Middle East plans include unlimited versions that slow after 3 GB a day. Its Discover+ global plans add voice and SMS. Price is around the market, never the cheapest. Our own tests were smooth, but the record is why alternatives to Airalo matter in Jordan; the test details are in our Airalo review. Airalo's Jordan page lists the plans.

Ubigi is the travel eSIM brand of Paris operator Transatel, with one reusable eSIM for 200+ destinations. Data was fast in our test, and its 3 GB, 10 GB and 30-day unlimited plans are cheap. Its weak point is support: a chatbot that ends in an email ticket, with no live agent.

Ubigi has no traveler reports from Jordan yet. It sells three Jordan plans of 1 GB, 3 GB and 10 GB, valid for 7, 15 or 30 days. Its page names Umniah and Zain and says there is no 5G. In our test the network was strong and the app could still top up at zero data, but the site, the app and the help desk were the weakest of the providers we tried: a ticket stayed unanswered for 24 hours. Its price is slightly below the market. See the Ubigi review. Ubigi's site shows the plans.

ByteSIM has no traveler reports from Jordan yet. It has the widest range of Jordan plans in our comparison: daily plans, fixed plans from 0.5 GB to 90 GB, and unlimited plans, valid for 1 to 30 days. Unlimited and daily plans slow after their quota. Its page names Umniah as the main network, with Zain and Orange as backup, and says no ID is needed. It also lists three plans with minutes and SMS for Jordan.

In our test the checkout and app were clumsy, and a WhatsApp message got no reply within 15 minutes. Price is around the market. See the ByteSIM review. ByteSIM's site has the full list.

Jetpac has no traveler reports from Jordan, and our comparison tool listed no Jetpac plan for Jordan at export. We could not read its page, which loads with scripts, so we cannot confirm a Jordan plan or its network. What sets Jetpac apart elsewhere is a set of extras: free WhatsApp and Maps after the data runs out on larger packs, in-app voice packs, and a free lounge after a long flight delay. It is among the dearer providers, and the app was rough in our test. See the Jetpac review. Jetpac's site is where to check for Jordan.

GigSky has no traveler reports from Jordan yet, and it is a cruise and island specialist rather than a land pick. It sells Jordan plans of 1 GB to 10 GB plus a 1-day unlimited pass, valid for 1 to 30 days, and it also sells Middle East plans with cruise coverage. It does not name carriers. Unlimited slows after a daily allowance. It is among the dearest providers overall, though its app stayed partly online at zero data in our test, so you can buy a new plan without Wi-Fi. One provider outside our 14 appears in the reviews: Simify. A December 2025 review says its eSIMs worked in Jordan, but it is not in our report data and has no count. Our research found a Simify page for Jordan with no prices shown, a 6-month window to start the plan, and no top-ups.

Best eSIM for Amman, Petra and Wadi Rum

Amman is the only place with 3 or more reports, and no single provider has 3 there, so the country pick applies. The overall pick, Maya Mobile, has one positive Amman report.

Where you are goingWhat the reports showOur pick
AmmanMaya Mobile 1/1, Holafly 1/1, Airalo 0/2Country pick applies, no provider has 3 or more reports here
Petratoo few reportsCountry pick applies
Petra Treasurytoo few reportsCountry pick applies
Dead Sea (shared with Israel)too few reportsCountry pick applies
Wadi Rumtoo few reportsCountry pick applies

Best eSIM for Amman

Maya Mobile and Holafly each have one report that worked in Amman, so they lead for the capital, with the thin base stated. The strongest finding is against Airalo: both Amman reports failed, in August 2026, with the phone showing 4G or 5G bars and no page loading. We read that as a data problem, not a dead zone. No review mentions the airport.

Petra has one Holafly report that worked, the Dead Sea (shared with Israel) has another, and Yesim has one miss at the Treasury. Wadi Rum has one GoMoWorld report from August 2026 that stayed stable in the desert. There are no traveler reports from Aqaba or the Jordan Trail yet. For remote stretches the network information points to Zain, which had the highest coverage score in Opensignal's July 2026 report and which Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Global YO name as their network.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Jordan

A local visitor line beats a travel eSIM when you need more than about 3 to 4 GB, and a travel eSIM wins for small needs, no passport queue and no dinars. The cheapest travel eSIM per GB costs 4 to 7 times as much as the cheapest local visitor line (our arithmetic on the prices below, September 2026). All three operators, Zain, Orange and Umniah, sell visitor eSIMs online, and Zain checks that your phone can use an eSIM [7].

Operator and planDataCalls and SMSValidityPrice in JOD, tax included (as of September 2026)

Zain Visitor Line 5Gnot confirmed10,000 Zain minutes, 1,000 other local minutes, 1,000 SMS90 days32.77 [7]

Umniah adds a one-time setup fee of JOD 3.016, and its prices include a 31.3% sales tax [9]. Its 5G visitor plans are sold only at Queen Alia airport and in its online store [8]. Zain says every package can be picked up at its airport shop and activated on arrival [7]. Orange's 250 GB internet plan is listed as data only, and we could not confirm that it works in a phone. We also could not confirm Zain's data allowance, or whether Orange has a counter at Amman airport. One JOD is about 1.41 US dollars at the pegged rate (third-party converters, September 2026).

A local prepaid line needs your passport, according to travel sources, and the phone must be unlocked. No operator publishes an airport tariff, so we could not confirm whether airport kiosks cost more. Travel eSIMs from Global YO, ByteSIM and GoMoWorld say no ID is needed. For the wider comparison, see eSIM vs physical SIM.

Mobile Networks in Jordan

Zain has the widest reach, Umniah the steadiest connection and Orange the most 5G, according to Opensignal's July 2026 report. Zain had the highest coverage score and the fastest 5G, Umniah won Best Network, and Orange had the most 5G presence. Jordan's regulator has no current quality data to check this: its quality-of-service archive stops at the second half of 2020 [2]. Operator coverage claims are marketing, and the only operator map we could open is Orange's [3].

Most travel eSIMs in Jordan ride Zain: Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Global YO name it on their own pages. Roamless names Umniah, Ubigi names Umniah and Zain, ByteSIM names Umniah first, and eSIM4Travel sells one version on Orange and one on Zain and Umniah. Maya, GoMoWorld and Saily name no network on their pages, so we do not guess. For any trip that leaves Amman, a Zain-based eSIM is the safer match with the coverage data, but that is an inference from one independent report.

Several eSIMs, including Global YO, Ubigi and eSIM4Travel, say they are 4G only, and Jordan's 5G reaches only a small share of subscriptions [1], so you lose little. Our guide to 4G vs 5G explains the difference. The average mobile subscription in Jordan used 34 GB a month in early 2026 [1], which is why local visitor bundles are sold in large blocks. We found no reliable 3G shutdown date, so we do not rely on one.

One rule can break your messaging apps. According to Jordan News, the regulator blocked messaging apps around exam halls during exam hours on 23 to 30 July 2026, and similar blocks were reported in 2024 and 2025. It applies to every network near the schools, travel eSIMs included, and it has returned in June and July.

How to Set Up an eSIM for Jordan

Set up the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, because most plans start only when the phone first connects in Jordan. Our first eSIM guide covers the basics.

  1. Check that your phone can use an eSIM and is unlocked.
  2. Buy the plan before you fly. Yesim's plan started at purchase in our test, and GoMoWorld does nothing until you press Start in the app.
  3. Install the eSIM with the QR code or in the app. See the guides for iPhone and Samsung.
  4. On arrival, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line. Maya and Global YO also need the APN set by hand (globaldata).
  5. If the phone shows bars but no page loads, restart it and check the APN, as several Airalo reviews describe. Our troubleshooting guide covers the next steps.

Most apps stop working at zero data, so top up before the plan runs out. Only GigSky and Ubigi stayed reachable at zero in our tests.

Calls and SMS in Jordan

Jordan's calling code is +962, and most travel eSIMs are data only, so calls go through WhatsApp or a similar app. For a Jordan number, a local visitor line includes minutes and SMS (see the local SIM table above). Among travel eSIMs, Airalo's Discover+ global plans include voice and SMS and add a US number. Roamless has in-app VoIP calls and an optional second number, Saily has a US number add-on, and Global YO has outgoing VoIP calls. ByteSIM lists plans with minutes and SMS for Jordan on its own page. Check the exact terms before you buy, and remember that messaging apps may be blocked near exam halls in summer.

Free eSIM Data for Jordan

Three providers list a free trial that works in Jordan: Roamless, Nomad and GoMoWorld. Roamless lists a free Jordan plan with a 30-day trial that starts on activation, and Nomad has a trial plan of 1 GB. GoMoWorld gives a free 1-day trial. These amounts are small, enough to test the install but not a trip. More are in our guide to free eSIM data.

Frequently Asked Questions About eSIMs in Jordan

Which eSIM works best in Jordan?
Maya Mobile and Holafly had the best records, with 4 of 5 reports positive each. The data is thin, because only 5 providers have 3 or more reports from Jordan. Maya has no Jordan-only plan, and Holafly's speed was capped in our test. Compare current prices with (eSIM Comparison).
What is the cheapest eSIM for Jordan?
The cheapest option depends on your plan size, and it changes often. Maya Mobile is usually the cheapest for unlimited data, and eSIM4Travel and Global YO are usually among the cheapest overall, though eSIM4Travel is not cheap in Jordan. The price chart and plan tables above update on their own, and (Cheapest eSIM 2026 - Price Comparison from $0.50 | Vefru) compares prices across countries.
Is a Jordan SIM card for tourists better than an eSIM?
A local SIM is better for heavy data, and an eSIM is better for small needs and convenience. Zain, Orange and Umniah sell visitor lines that need your passport and an unlocked phone. The local SIM section above lists the plans. For the trade-offs, see (eSIM vs SIM: Is eSIM Worth It? Comparison + Guide | Vefru).
How much data do I need for Jordan?
It depends on how you use your phone. Maps and messaging use little, while streaming and video calls use far more. Plans in our comparison start at about 1 GB and go up to unlimited. To get a number for your own habits, use (Travel Data Calculator).
Does Airalo work in Jordan?
Airalo worked for 4 of 8 travelers who reported from Jordan, the weakest record of the top providers. Both Amman reports failed, with the phone showing 4G or 5G bars but no data loading. Its Jordan plans use Zain. Travelers who still want it install before the trip and keep a backup option; (3 Best Alternatives to Airalo eSIM for Travel (2026)) lists alternatives.
Can I call a local number with a Jordan eSIM?
Most travel eSIMs are data only, so calls go through WhatsApp or a similar app, and the calls section above lists the exceptions. If you need a local number with minutes, a visitor line from a local operator includes them, and a few eSIMs, like Airalo's Discover+ plans, add voice.
Which mobile network is best in Jordan?
According to Opensignal's July 2026 report, Zain has the widest coverage, Umniah won Best Network, and Orange has the most 5G. For trips that leave Amman, a Zain-based eSIM matches the coverage data best. Airalo, Holafly, Nomad and Global YO name Zain.

Summary: the best eSIM for Jordan

Based on 28 traveler reports and our tests, Maya Mobile is the best option for trips of a week or more (4 of 5), with cheap unlimited data but no small plans. Holafly also worked for 4 of 5, in Amman, Petra and at the Dead Sea, and its weakness is a speed cap from the start. GoMoWorld (3 of 4) suits heavy data and Wadi Rum but works only through its app. Yesim (2 of 3) has flexible daily unlimited plans and a very slow help desk. Airalo (4 of 8) is easy to set up, but both Amman reports failed.

The other providers have 1 report or none from Jordan, so we cannot rank them on results. A local visitor line from Zain, Orange or Umniah beats every travel eSIM on price per GB, at the cost of a passport and a queue. For most visitors, the best eSIM for Jordan is the one that installs at home, rides Zain for trips beyond Amman, and fits the data you actually use.
