Key takeaways
Uzbekistan has only 16 traveler reports, so the evidence is limited. Based on those reports and our tests, the best option for most trips is Maya Mobile: it worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan, its global unlimited plan also covers Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and it is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison, but it sells nothing small for a short Tashkent stop. eSIM4Travel is the lowest-priced option in our comparison for 1 GB to 20 GB and had the best help desk in our test, with no reports from Uzbekistan yet, on the operator rated weakest outside Tashkent, and no app.

Choosing the best eSIM for Uzbekistan is less about price than about which network you land on. Most travel eSIMs sold for the country run on Beeline, and the independent measurement firm Opensignal placed Beeline last of the four operators for coverage experience and consistent quality in its March 2026 report. That matters because Uzbekistan is mostly empty: roughly 80% of the country is desert or plain, and the Silk Road circuit from Tashkent through Samarkand and Bukhara to Khiva runs along a 1,425 km west-to-east line, not a loop. In the cities every operator gives usable 4G. On the long legs between them, the operator decides whether you have signal.
The second thing to know: a local SIM is far cheaper, but it takes paperwork. Every physical SIM is registered to your passport and activated in a shop, and the operators have made their own eSIMs harder for foreigners to get than a plastic SIM. Travel eSIMs ask for no ID at all, which is their real advantage here. At Tashkent airport one field report from July 2026 found only Beeline and Ucell counters, no Uzmobile, so the best-coverage operator is not on sale when you land.
We have 16 traveler reports from Uzbekistan across the 14 providers we test, which is thin. This page leans on those reports where they exist, and on our hands-on tests and the network research where they do not. Peak season is spring and autumn; summers average around 40 °C and winters well below freezing, which keeps most trips in those two windows. The picks below are a starting point, not a verdict.

How well each provider's eSIM works in Uzbekistan
The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Uzbekistan. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 16 public customer reviews that mention Uzbekistan or a place in it, published between October 2025 and August 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 3 of 3 means the eSIM worked well for 3 of the 3 travelers who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run outside Uzbekistan, so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here. Local operator prices in the text were checked on 26 Sep 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.
| Provider | Vefru test score | Worked in Uzbekistan (reports) | Best for | Network in Uzbekistan | Speed cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maya Mobile | 8.4 | 3 of 3 (limited) | Multi-country trips, unlimited data | not named on its page (checked September 2026) | Unlimited: 5 GB/day, then slower |
| eSIM4Travel | 8.8 | no reports yet | Lowest price, human help desk | Beeline | Unlimited: 3 GB/day, then slower; day plans slow after the daily cap |
| Nomad | 7.2 | 1 of 1 (too few) | Rail circuit, experienced users | UzMobile (own page) | none flagged on fixed plans |
| Airalo | 7.5 | 1 of 1 (too few) | Easy first eSIM at market price | Unitel (Beeline) | Unlimited: 3 GB/day, then slower |
| Yesim | 6.6 | 1 of 1 (too few) | Unlimited by the day | not named on its page (checked September 2026) | Unlimited: fair-use rule, limit not published |
| Holafly | 7.1 | 1 of 1 (too few) | City trips, no data worries | Beeline | Capped from the start (our test); fair-use slowdown, limit not published |
| Saily | 8.1 | 1 of 1 (too few) | Best app and help desk | not named on its page (checked September 2026) | none flagged on fixed plans |
| GigSky | 7.1 | 1 of 1 (too few) | not a top pick here | varies by design (own page) | Unlimited: 2.5 GB/day, then slower (none listed here) |
| Ubigi | 6.3 | 2 of 4 (too few) | Two networks, tech-savvy users | Beeline + Uztelecom | Unlimited: 30 GB per plan, then slower |
| GoMoWorld | 7.8 | 1 of 2 (too few) | not a top pick here | unknown | none flagged |
| Global YO | 8.0 | 0 of 1 (too few) | not a top pick here | Beeline | Unlimited: 1 GB/day, then slower; 4G only |
| Roamless | 7.1 | no reports yet | Light multi-country use | Beeline (own page) | none, page says never |
| ByteSIM | 6.1 | no reports yet | not a top pick here | Unitel (Beeline) | Day plans: slow after the daily allowance |
| Jetpac | 6.9 | no reports yet | not a top pick here | reported: Beeline | Unlimited: 3 GB/day, then slower; all plans 4G only |
The Best group is chosen on traveler reports in Uzbekistan first, price position second and our hands-on test third; with so few reports it holds only two providers, because every other provider has fewer than 3 reports and we do not recommend on less.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands
Maya Mobile is the pick for a week or longer in Uzbekistan, and above all for a trip that also crosses into Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, because one global unlimited plan covers all of them and it has the only clean record here. It worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), which is limited evidence. All three reports were positive, with no failure to describe, and in a country where most providers have a single report that is the strongest record on the page.
There are no misses to report, so the caveats come from the product, not the reports. Maya does not name its Uzbek network. Its page says it connects to the strongest local network in each country, claims two or more networks in most countries, and says Uzbekistan has 4G LTE or better even where its own map shows nothing, as of September 2026. We could not confirm which operator that means, so for the desert legs between Bukhara, Khiva and Nukus the coverage finding is unknown rather than good.
In our comparison tool Maya sells only global unlimited plans: 3, 7, 14 and 30 days, plus Global + Cruise versions of each. Full speed runs to 5 GB a day, then the plan slows until the next day, the most generous daily rule in our comparison. Hotspot is included, you can top up, and a VPN works on it. In our hands-on test, run in Czechia and not in Uzbekistan, the eSIM installed in about two minutes from an emailed QR code; you set the APN to globaldata and turn on roaming yourself, and 5G came up at once with no sign of throttling until the daily allowance was used. The help desk is WhatsApp: a bot, a five-step form, then a person in about nine minutes with template replies. Our Maya Mobile review has the screenshots.
On price Maya is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison by a wide margin, and its site states that prices include all taxes and fees. The drawback is that it sells nothing small: a two-day stop in Tashkent pays for a 3-day unlimited plan. Maya's site also advertised a flat daily unlimited rate billed every two weeks in September 2026, while its legacy site still showed prepaid plans, so check which product you are buying at Maya Mobile. A full refund is available if no data has been used within 30 days.

eSIM4Travel eSIM in our hands
eSIM4Travel is the pick for a city-bound trip where price matters and you want a person on the help desk, which in our test it had: one click from the bot to a human who solved the problem and added a tip. There are no traveler reports from Uzbekistan yet, so its place rests on our hands-on test, run in Switzerland and not in Uzbekistan, and on its price position: the lowest in our comparison for 3 GB, 5 GB and 10 GB plans here, by a clear margin over every other provider.
The known weakness is the network. eSIM4Travel's plan page names Beeline as its premium network, as of September 2026, and Opensignal's March 2026 report placed Beeline last of the four operators for coverage experience and far last for consistent quality. Beeline is fine in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara; on the Bukhara to Khiva road and the route to Nukus across the Kyzylkum it is the operator most likely to drop. The plan is a roaming profile, so data roaming must be switched on.
Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbekistan plans from 100 MB for a day up to 50 GB for 30 days, unlimited for 3 to 30 days, and a Central Asia 4 regional plan covering Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan, also with an unlimited version. Unlimited gives 3 GB a day at full speed and then slows; the day plans slow hard once the daily cap is used. Hotspot and top-ups are allowed, you must activate within 90 days of purchase, and the validity clock starts at the first connection. There is no app: you buy on the website at eSIM4Travel, the QR code arrives by email, and in our test it installed and worked right away. The downsides from our eSIM4Travel review: no Google Pay, card details typed by hand, one device per eSIM, and no way to reach the shop for a top-up once the data is gone unless you find Wi-Fi. Refunds are possible within two months if less than 10% of the plan is used.

Nomad eSIM in our hands
Nomad is the only provider in this article whose own page names UzMobile, the state operator with the best coverage experience and the most time on network in Opensignal's March 2026 report, so it is the one to look at for the rail circuit and Karakalpakstan; it is not a top pick because it has a single report. It worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, and that one report describes no trouble. One caution: a field report from July 2026 listed Nomad on Beeline, and our comparison tool lists both UzMobile and Beeline for its Uzbekistan plans, so the network may have switched recently or may differ by plan. We could not confirm this from Nomad itself.
Plans in our comparison tool: Local Uzbekistan from 1 GB (3 or 7 days) to 50 GB for 30 days, no unlimited, no voice. Hotspot is allowed, add-on data is available on some plans, and new users get a free 1 GB trial. Nomad's page gave 60 days to activate when the research checked it in September 2026, while the plan terms in our tool say 30 days, so install close to departure either way. What keeps it out of the Best group, besides the thin reports, is the help desk: in our test the bot looped on an APN question and had no route to a person, as our Nomad review shows. Its price position is slightly below the market average, and the research found its 50 GB plan the cheapest large bundle for Uzbekistan. For an experienced user who will not need help, Nomad is the strongest network bet on this page.

Airalo eSIM in our hands
Airalo is the easy, well-known option and it worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, with nothing in that report against it. It is not a top pick because one report proves little, its price position is at the market average and never the cheapest, and across all countries in our files it has the weakest report record of the 14 providers.
Its country page names Unitel and its plan pages name Beeline, which are the same company, as of September 2026; a third-party listing still showed Ucell, which we could not confirm from Airalo. Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbeknet from 1 GB to 20 GB for 3 to 30 days, and unlimited for 3 to 15 days with 3 GB a day at full speed, then slower, with tethering counted toward it. Airalo and Holafly listed the same unlimited price for 3, 5 and 7 days in September 2026, on the same network. The Discover+ global plan adds calls and texts through a US number. No ID check is needed, top-ups and auto-renewal at 10% left are available, and validity starts at the first connection; some packages start at install, so check the package page at Airalo. In our test purchase and install were among the easiest, and the help desk reached a person after a queue; see our Airalo review.

Yesim eSIM in our hands
Yesim worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, with no miss to describe. It is not a top pick because its help desk was among the slowest in our test, 15 to 60 minutes per reply with template answers, and because its page does not name an Uzbek network, saying only that it works with top carriers there and switches between them automatically, as of September 2026.
Plans in our comparison tool: unlimited by the day for 1 to 30 days, fixed 1 GB to 30 GB for 30 days, a 500 MB day plan, and a CIS regional bundle that covers Uzbekistan with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus and Russia, plus global packages. On unlimited, speed may be limited under the operator's fair-use policy with no figure given. Tethering is allowed; the free VPN is iOS only. In our test the plan started at purchase rather than at first use, so buy close to the trip. Price position: unlimited at the market average, fixed plans above it. Our Yesim review has the test. Yesim suits an experienced user who wants unlimited by the day without committing to a long plan.

Holafly eSIM in our hands
Holafly worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, and in our test its speed was capped from the start: enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. Its page names Beeline Uzbekistan and says coverage is excellent in cities and weaker or unstable in deserts and mountains, as of September 2026, which matches the independent data on Beeline.
Holafly sells unlimited only, 3 to 30 days on its page in September 2026, but no Holafly plan for Uzbekistan appears in our comparison tool at the time of writing, so there is no plan table here. Hotspot is capped at 1 GB a day, there are no top-ups (you buy a new eSIM), the fair-use slowdown is applied for no more than one day at a time, and an unused plan can be refunded within six months. Always On keeps 1 GB a month after the plan ends if you keep the eSIM installed. Price position: among the more expensive unlimited offers in our comparison. See our Holafly review for the speed finding. Who might still choose Holafly: a traveler on a city trip who wants to stop thinking about data and does not need speed.

Saily eSIM in our hands
Saily worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, and it had the most polished app, the smoothest install and one of the two best help desks in our test. It is not a top pick because its price position is usually among the most expensive in our comparison and its page does not name an Uzbek network, promising only the country's best networks, as of September 2026.
Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbekistan 1 GB for 7 days and 3 GB to 20 GB for 30 days, plus an Asia and Oceania regional plan up to 100 GB; no unlimited for Uzbekistan. No hotspot restrictions, a free virtual location and ad blocker in the app, 3% back in credits, and an optional US number with calls and SMS. The eSIM comes only through the app, so install before you fly; Saily's page said 180 days to activate while its own meta text said 30 days, as of September 2026, so do not rely on either. Our Saily review covers the test. Saily suits a first eSIM where ease matters more than price.

GigSky eSIM in our hands
GigSky worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (100%), too few to judge, with no miss to describe. It is not a top pick because the price analysis puts it several times above the market median in Uzbekistan, one of the countries where its fixed price ladder is dearest, and the same 5 GB plan that is at market in Germany is the most expensive 5 GB plan in our comparison here.
Plans in our comparison tool: 1 GB, 3 GB and 5 GB (7, 15 and 30 days) plus World plans up to 50 GB; no unlimited is listed for Uzbekistan, though GigSky says its unlimited plans slow after 2.5 GB a day. Its page does not fix a network: it says it connects to the fastest one available and claims primarily 5G with some regions on 4G or 3G. A free 100 MB trial is on its page. Two things set it apart in our test: a person answered the help desk at once, and the app stays online with 0 data, so you can buy more without Wi-Fi. The eSIM profile is reusable; deleting it means asking the help desk to re-issue it. Our GigSky review has the test. Who might still choose GigSky: someone already holding a GigSky eSIM from other trips who needs 1 GB.

Ubigi is the travel eSIM brand of Paris operator Transatel, with one reusable eSIM for 200+ destinations. Data was fast in our test, and its 3 GB, 10 GB and 30-day unlimited plans are cheap. Its weak point is support: a chatbot that ends in an email ticket, with no live agent.

Ubigi eSIM in our hands
Ubigi is the only provider here with both Beeline and Uztelecom on its own networks panel, as of September 2026, which should be the best combination for a trip that leaves the cities, but the reports are mixed: it worked well for 2 of 4 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (50%), too few to judge. The two misses: a reviewer in August 2026 could not activate or use the eSIM in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan even though the app showed it active, and another in July 2026 could not connect in Tashkent. The two successes used it across Central Asia; one found install quick and easy but data slow in many areas, and the other, on a World plan, wrote in June 2026: "Other than Tajikistan which there was no connection at all, the other three worked well."
Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbekistan 1 GB, 3 GB, 10 GB and 25 GB (7 to 30 days) and unlimited for 7 or 15 days with 30 GB at full speed per plan, then slower; plus Asia, World and Best World plans. Data sharing is allowed, Smartstart activates the plan on arrival, an unscanned plan lasts six months, and it is data only. What keeps it out of the top, beyond the two failures, is the help desk in our test: an email ticket went unanswered for 24 hours, and the site and app were the clunkiest we used, as our Ubigi review shows. The upside: it let us buy more data with a zero balance, and the install bot has a good illustrated checklist with the APN (mobiledata). Price position: around the market average. Ubigi suits a tech-savvy traveler who wants both networks and will fix the APN alone.

GoMoWorld eSIM in our hands
GoMoWorld worked well for 1 of 2 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan (50%), too few to judge, and both review texts in our file describe trouble: one from October 2025 found it very difficult to connect and so slow that only 600 MB of a 7 GB plan were used in 10 days, and one from August 2026 reported no data at times in a big city. We could not open GoMoWorld's Uzbekistan page, so its network here is unknown.
Plans in our comparison tool: four Uzbekistan plans, about 1.7 GB for 7 days and 7 GB, 17 GB or 27 GB for 30 days, no unlimited and no voice; the plan terms claim 5G and allow tethering. The eSIM comes only through the app, one account per device, and nothing starts until you press Start in the app, a common cause of "not working". The help desk is a bot plus humans in office hours. In our test, run in Austria, speed was the highest of the 14 with no throttling, but that says nothing about Beeline or Uzmobile; see our GoMoWorld review. Price position: a little below the market average, best for larger plans. Who might still choose GoMoWorld: a heavy user in Tashkent who accepts the two poor reports.

Global YO eSIM in our hands
Global YO has one report from Uzbekistan and it was a failure (0 of 1), too few to judge, so there is nothing yet to show it works here. Its spec table names Beeline, states 4G/LTE only with no 5G, and puts the unlimited plan's full-speed allowance at 1 GB a day, the tightest daily cap the research found among these providers, as of September 2026.
Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbekistan 1 GB (3 days) to 100 GB (60 days), Day Plans with a daily allowance, an Asia Explorer plan that also covers Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, and Global Explorer plans. Tethering and top-ups are allowed, no ID is required, and there is no phone number; calls go through its YO SHOUT VoIP. Purchase is app only, the APN globaldata may need setting by hand, and the company FAQ describes a small yearly eSIM activation fee on top of the plan. Price position: the second cheapest in our comparison, especially from 10 GB up. In our test the help desk took 10 minutes for a template reply and over 30 for a follow-up; see our Global YO review. Global YO suits a price-driven buyer who installs at home and accepts 4G.

Roamless is a US provider built around one global eSIM for 203 destinations, paid with pay-as-you-go credit. It was fast and unthrottled in our test, and travelers report it working in 91% of cases. Its weak point is buying: the website forces you into the app, and large data amounts cost more than most rivals.

Roamless eSIM in our hands
Roamless has no traveler reports from Uzbekistan yet. It is not a top pick because the research found it the most expensive per GB of any provider for Uzbekistan: its flat pay-as-you-go rate has no volume discount, so it costs about the same for 5 GB as other providers charge for many times that.
Plans in our comparison tool: Uzbekistan plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, either for 30 days or with no expiration, a free 150 MB plan for new users, and pay-as-you-go credit that never expires. Its page says hotspot is unlimited and speed is never limited, the only explicit no-throttle promise the research found. The network is in doubt: Roamless's page named Beeline on 4G in September 2026, while our comparison tool lists Ucell for its Uzbekistan plans, which would make it the only provider here on the fastest network; we could not confirm which is current. In our test the preselected APN did not work and the fix was choosing another one by hand, and the Android app link on the site was dead; see our Roamless review. In-app VoIP calls and an optional second number are included. Roamless suits a frequent multi-country traveler who uses little data.

ByteSIM eSIM in our hands
ByteSIM has no traveler reports from Uzbekistan yet. Its page names Unitel, meaning Beeline, as of September 2026, and in our test its checkout and app were the clumsiest of the 14, with a demand for a full postal address and a help desk that did not answer on WhatsApp within 15 minutes.
Plans in our comparison tool: the widest catalogue here, with fixed plans from 500 MB to 90 GB, 1 GB and 2 GB a day plans, and unlimited plans, all from 1 to 30 days. Its spec says 5G/4G, tethering allowed, data only, auto-start on arrival, no ID check, and daily plans that drop to a crawl after the allowance. There are no top-ups, and longer validity costs more, so it looks cheaper on short trips. Price position: around the market average, cheaper for 3 GB to 5 GB. Our ByteSIM review has the test. ByteSIM suits an experienced user who wants a local payment wallet or an exact short plan length.

Jetpac eSIM in our hands
Jetpac has no traveler reports from Uzbekistan yet, and every Jetpac plan for Uzbekistan in our comparison tool is flagged 4G only. Its page names no network, saying it connects to the strongest one available, as of September 2026; a field report from July 2026 lists it on Beeline, which we could not confirm.
Plans in our comparison tool: 1 GB to 40 GB and unlimited for 1 to 30 days. Unlimited gives 3 GB per 24 hours and then slows, hotspot is uncapped, and on packs of 3 GB or more WhatsApp, Google Maps, Uber and Grab keep working after the data is gone. Unactivated packs are kept for three months. Extras: in-app voice packs and a free airport lounge if your flight is delayed by an hour or more. Price position: above the market average for 3 GB to 20 GB. In our test the site was slow and the app rough, with a usage counter that lagged; see our Jetpac review. Jetpac suits a frequent flyer who values the extras over polish.

Best eSIM Plans for Uzbekistan
Price per GB in Uzbekistan by eSIM Provider
How much does each provider charge per GB in Uzbekistan? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.
Generated 01.11.2026 13:44
The five tables below show the cheapest plan per provider at 2 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB, 20 GB and unlimited, with live prices. Two things the tables cannot show: which network a plan rides (see the quick table above, since almost everything here is Beeline) and whether a plan is 4G only, which is true of every Jetpac plan and of Global YO. If you are unsure how much data you need, a week of maps, messaging and photos usually fits in 5 GB; our guide on how much data a trip needs has the numbers by habit. Travelers who combine Uzbekistan with India on one trip can compare plans that cover both countries, and our India eSIM guide covers that leg.

Best eSIM for Tashkent and the Silk Road Cities
Maya Mobile, our country pick, has no city-level reports yet, and only one report in our files names a place at all, so the country pick applies everywhere and the advice below comes from the network research rather than from travelers.
| Where you are going | What the reports show | Our pick |
|---|---|---|
| Tashkent | too few reports | Country pick applies |
The one placed report is a miss: an Ubigi user could not connect in Tashkent in July 2026. That is too little to rank anyone, and it sits oddly against the network data, because Tashkent is the one place where every operator, Beeline included, is strong. In Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and the Fergana Valley cities all four operators give usable 4G, so any provider on this page should do for a city-only trip. No traveler reports name the Fergana Valley yet; a field report from July 2026 found Ucell densest there, with better 5G than Uzmobile, and no provider in this article names Ucell on its Uzbekistan page, so a local SIM is the way to that network. No traveler reports cover the Bukhara to Khiva road or the Kyzylkum route to Nukus either; Opensignal's March 2026 report gives Uztelecom the widest coverage experience and Beeline the narrowest, which points at Nomad or Ubigi for those legs rather than the Beeline-only providers. Samarkand has 5G from Mobiuz at the main station and the Silk Road Samarkand tourism centre, according to a telecom blog, but no travel eSIM here names Mobiuz. Ucell's own coverage map carries a warning that coverage is approximate and depends on device, terrain, weather and local load [10], which is fair advice for every map of this country.
Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Uzbekistan
A local SIM in Uzbekistan costs a fraction of a travel eSIM and comes with a local number and calls, but you buy it in person with your passport. Beeline's Hello line is the only operator tariff built for foreigners: it is open only to foreign citizens without a permanent residence permit, allows at most three numbers per passport, works only inside Uzbekistan, and its allowances run for 90 days from the first connection, after which usage is billed at overlimit rates unless you restart it at a Beeline office [3]. The monthly fee for each Hello tier did not render on the page when we checked, so we cannot quote it. The data add-ons did, as of September 2026: 1.5 GB for 7 days at UZS 10,000, 7 GB for 7 days at UZS 30,000, 10 GB plus 5 GB of YouTube for 30 days at UZS 50,000, and 50 GB plus 25 GB of YouTube for 30 days at UZS 100,000, with all prices including VAT; data outside a package costs UZS 225 per MB, so a package is not optional [3].
Uzmobile, the Uztelecom brand with the widest coverage, lists one plan under its tourist tariffs: Salom, UZS 49,000 a month for 50 GB, unlimited domestic calls and 500 SMS, as of September 2026 [12]. The terms on that page read as if a foreigner needs permanent registration in Uzbekistan, which is the opposite of Beeline's rule, and the site carried a test-mode banner when we checked; we could not confirm whether tourists can buy it, so ask in the shop [12]. Uzmobile's standard monthly plans run from 15 GB to 200 GB, several with unlimited minutes [11]. Ucell has retired its tourist tariff: the Tourist 55 page now redirects to the archive and says the plan is unavailable [8]. What Ucell sells instead is its standard Bor line, from Bor 70 at UZS 70,000 a month for 70 GB plus 70 GB promotional data and unlimited domestic calls up to Bor 160 with 350 GB, of which 150 GB on 5G, as of September 2026 [7]. That is the only way onto the fastest network, since no travel eSIM here names Ucell. Mobiuz's own package page returned an error when the research checked it, so we have no verified Mobiuz prices.
Paperwork is the real cost. A passport is required for any physical SIM, and the SIM is registered to your name and passport number and activated in the shop, according to three independent traveler reports; two of them add that staff asked for proof of hotel registration and sent them to a main office rather than a kiosk, which no operator page confirms. Local eSIMs are harder still: Beeline's remote eSIM onboarding through its app and the MyID identity check is for citizens only, and foreigners must visit an office with an eSIM-capable phone and full documents [6], and Beeline takes no responsibility for an eSIM on a phone whose IMEI is not registered in Uzbekistan [5]. We could not confirm whether Uzmobile sells a prepaid eSIM to foreigners. Travel eSIMs need no ID at all: Airalo, Global YO and ByteSIM all say so on their own pages.
Where to buy: Tashkent airport has SIM kiosks in the arrivals hall, but one field report from July 2026 found only Beeline and Ucell there and no Uzmobile, and a forum report describes being overcharged at an airport counter, so the official operator stores in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara are the better route; staff finish the registration and check that data works before you leave. Train station kiosks in those three cities are often Mobiuz with little English, and street phone shops are best skipped, because any problem gets sent back to an official store anyway. The short version: a local SIM wins on cost by roughly an order of magnitude, on coverage if you pick Uzmobile or Ucell, and on calls; a travel eSIM wins when the trip is short and city-bound, when you want data the moment you land, or when you do not want your passport and IMEI registered.
Mobile Networks in Uzbekistan
Four GSM networks matter to a visitor, and the best one depends on whether you stay in cities or move between them. Ucell is the fastest and most consistent: Opensignal's March 2026 report, measured from October to December 2025, gave it the outright wins for download speed, consistent quality and reliability, and Ucell says Ookla's Speedtest Awards named it the fastest and best mobile network in Uzbekistan for the first half of 2026, its third year in a row [9]. Uztelecom, sold under the Uzmobile brand, has the widest reach: the same Opensignal report scored it highest for coverage experience and time on network, which is what counts on the rail line and in Karakalpakstan. Beeline came last for coverage experience and far last for consistent quality in that report, so it wins in Tashkent and loses outside it. Mobiuz, privatised in June 2026 with a pledge of up to $500 million of network investment, had the weakest coverage experience of the four. A fifth operator, Perfectum, runs CDMA only and is of no use to a visiting phone.
Which eSIM provider rides which network, as of September 2026: eSIM4Travel, Airalo, Holafly, Global YO, Roamless and ByteSIM name Beeline or Unitel on their own pages, which is one and the same company; Nomad names UzMobile; Ubigi names both Beeline and Uztelecom. Jetpac is listed on Beeline only by a third party. Saily, Yesim, Maya Mobile and GigSky name no Uzbek network on their pages, and GoMoWorld's page could not be opened. No provider on this page names Ucell. So the operator that two measurement houses rate fastest is the one no travel eSIM here confirms selling, and the one with the widest coverage reaches you only through Nomad or Ubigi; see our guide to eSIMs with several networks for how a dual-network profile switches.
Two more facts for the trip. 5G is live but small: Ucell sells explicit 5G allowances inside its top tariffs [7], while reports place it in parts of Tashkent and pockets of regional centres, and Global YO states its Uzbekistan plans are 4G only. None of the sources we checked mention a 3G shutdown, as of September 2026. One conflict we could not resolve: Beeline's own packages page says it was recognised as number one for speed and stability of mobile internet in 2025 according to Opensignal [4], while the March 2026 Opensignal report, covering late 2025, awards it none of speed, consistency or reliability; the periods or award names may differ. The sector regulator is O'zkomnazorat, under the Ministry of Digital Technologies [1], and the National Statistics Committee reports that Beeline, Ucell and Uzmobile together hold 79.8% of individual subscribers [2]. Starlink is not available in Uzbekistan as of 26 Sep 2026, according to compilations of Starlink's own availability map, which still list it as starting in 2026.
How to Set Up an eSIM for Uzbekistan
Install at home on Wi-Fi, because most of these plans do not start until the eSIM first connects in Uzbekistan, and the three app-only providers (Saily, GoMoWorld and GigSky) cannot be installed at all without their app online.
- Check that your phone has eSIM and is carrier-unlocked; our first eSIM guide has the compatibility check.
- Buy the plan. Watch the activation window: eSIM4Travel gives 90 days, Nomad 30 to 60 days depending on where you read it, Ubigi 6 months for an unscanned plan, Jetpac keeps unactivated packs 3 months, and Saily's own pages disagree between 30 and 180 days. Yesim started our plan at purchase, so buy it last.
- Install from the emailed QR code or in the app. Our guides for adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung cover the menus.
- Set the APN if the provider needs one: globaldata for Maya Mobile and Global YO, mobiledata for Ubigi, gigsky for GigSky. In our test Roamless's preselected APN did not work and needed a manual choice.
- On landing, turn on data roaming (every plan here is a roaming profile), pick the eSIM as your data line, and keep your home SIM on if you need its texts. Jetpac's profile dropped data in our test until the physical SIM was switched off.
- GoMoWorld only: press Start in the app, or nothing happens. If data still does not come up, our troubleshooting guide walks through roaming, APN and network selection.
Calls and SMS in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan's calling code is +998, and almost every travel eSIM for the country is data only, so calls go over WhatsApp, Telegram or a similar app. In our comparison tool the only plan covering Uzbekistan with calls and texts included is Airalo's Discover+ global plan, which gives a US number, not an Uzbek one. Saily sells an optional US number with calls and SMS, Jetpac sells in-app voice packs, Roamless includes VoIP calls and an optional second number, and Global YO routes calls through its YO SHOUT app. Jetpac's packs of 3 GB or more keep WhatsApp, Google Maps, Uber and Grab working after the data is gone, which is a useful fallback for a taxi.
For a real Uzbek number the only route is a local SIM. Beeline's Hello plans include calls, with international calls to Central Asia, Russia and the Caucasus charged at one rate and to Europe, the Americas and most of Asia at a higher one [3]; the figures are in the local SIM section. Uzmobile's Salom plan bundles unlimited domestic calls and 500 SMS [12]. Both need a passport and a shop visit.
Free eSIM Data for Uzbekistan
Three providers on this page give free data that works in Uzbekistan. Roamless lists a free 150 MB Uzbekistan plan for new users in our comparison tool, and its own page confirms 150 MB (a third-party listing says 300 MB, which we could not confirm). Nomad gives new users a free 1 GB trial, listed on its Uzbekistan plans. GigSky's page confirms a free 100 MB trial. None of these lasts a trip, but each is enough to test that your phone, APN and roaming settings work on arrival before you pay. Our free eSIM guide lists the current trials for every provider.

Summary: the best eSIM for Uzbekistan
With only 16 traveler reports in our files, Uzbekistan is a country where the evidence is thin and the network matters more than the brand. Based on those reports and our tests, we recommend Maya Mobile for most trips of a week or more: it worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from Uzbekistan, its one global unlimited plan covers Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well, and it is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison; its weakness is that it sells nothing small and does not name its Uzbek network. eSIM4Travel is the pick for a short, city-bound trip on a budget: the lowest prices in our comparison for 3 GB to 10 GB and the best help desk in our test, with no reports from Uzbekistan yet, no app, and Beeline underneath, the operator independent testing rates weakest outside Tashkent.
For the rail circuit and Karakalpakstan, the network data points at Nomad, the only provider here on UzMobile, and at Ubigi with both Beeline and Uztelecom, but Nomad has one report and Ubigi worked well for 2 of 4, so neither is a recommendation yet. A local SIM beats every travel eSIM on price and reach if you accept the passport registration. Whatever you choose, the best eSIM for Uzbekistan is the one whose network covers the legs between the cities, not just the cities.
