Based on the reports, Maya Mobile is the best option for most trips to Tunisia, because it is the only provider here with a clean record from more than a handful of travelers. It worked well for 7 of 7 travelers who reported from Tunisia (100%), which we treat as limited evidence, but the pattern inside those reports is consistent: resort holidays, families, and travelers who used the same eSIM in Tunisia and then in Mexico, Ireland, Spain or India. One reviewer in Sep 2024 bought the unlimited plan and described fast 4G all day, every day, showing as LTE on the phone. Another, in Aug 2025, bought eSIMs for two children while already in Tunisia and topped them up when they ran out.

There were no misses in Tunisia. The nearest thing to one is a Mar 2026 report where the eSIM worked on a Tunisia trip, then would not connect on a later trip; the reviewer got a refund or credit from the help desk without argument. A second reviewer, in Aug 2025, bought a plan for a phone that turned out not to be eSIM-compatible and was refunded at once. So the help desk record in Tunisia is good, even though in our own test Maya's WhatsApp bot ignored the first message and the human replies were templates.

Maya sells no Tunisia-only plan. Tunisia is covered by its global unlimited plan only, in 3, 7, 14 and 30 day lengths, with a cruise variant, and nothing shorter than 3 days [17]. The allowance is 5 GB a day at full speed, then slowed until the daily reset, which was the fairest unlimited rule we tested; in our test in Czechia we saw 5G at once after setting the APN to "globaldata" and turning roaming on.

Maya does not name the Tunisian network it uses, only "the strongest local network" [17]. On price it is the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison by a wide margin, and cheaper than most providers' single-country unlimited plans, though it is poor value for a one or two day trip. Saily is the choice for a first eSIM in Tunisia, because the one install that failed was fixed by its help desk on the spot. It worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from Tunisia (100%), limited evidence. One reviewer arrived in Tunis on 17 Apr 2026, could not install the eSIM, asked for help and was walked through installing a fresh one, and then used it on a road trip around the country. Another, in Aug 2026, had tried a local SIM on an earlier trip and found gaps in parts of the country; with Saily they reported a connection everywhere they went and used the app's virtual location to keep streaming apps from home working.

There are no misses to describe, only the near miss above, and it says something useful: a help desk that answers at the airport is worth more in Tunisia than in countries where everything connects on its own. That matches our own test, where Saily's in-app chat put us through to a fast, polite human and its install was the smoothest we tried. The app is the only way to buy, so set it up on Wi-Fi before you fly; it dies once the data is gone.

Saily sells Tunisia plans of 1 GB for 7 days and 3, 5, 10 and 20 GB for 30 days, plus a Middle East and North Africa regional plan of 1 to 3 GB that covers 19 countries; our comparison tool listed no unlimited Saily plan for Tunisia as of October 2026. Its page states no hotspot restriction and 3G, 4G and 5G access, but does not name the Tunisian network [11]. One thing to re-check before you buy: the page gave a 180-day activation window on 10 Sep 2026 and "a 30-day activation period" on 26 Sep 2026, so buy close to the trip until that is settled. The drawback is price: Saily is usually among the dearer providers in our comparison, and dearest in the places most people travel. Holafly suits a resort week where you want to stop thinking about data, with one condition: in our test, Holafly's speed was capped from the start, before any data was used. That is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work; the hotspot is also limited to 1 GB a day and there are no top-ups, only a new eSIM [10]. It worked well for 4 of 5 travelers who reported from Tunisia (80%), limited evidence. The successes are plain: one reviewer in May 2026 wrote that they never lost signal once in Tunisia, and another in Jun 2026 got 5G at once after choosing the network by hand on arrival.

The one miss, in Jul 2026, was a regular Holafly user who found the local partner network far less available in Tunisia than Holafly's partners elsewhere; Holafly compensated them without argument. That reviewer named Tunisie Telecom, but Holafly's own page says its Tunisia eSIM uses Orange and Ooredoo [10], so the network behind that miss is unclear. The same page names weak or no-signal areas: parts of the Sahara, the Chott el Djerid, Jebil National Park and desert routes near Tataouine [10].

Holafly sells only unlimited plans for Tunisia, in 3, 5, 7, 10, 15 and 30 day lengths. Fair use can cut the speed for at most one day before it resets, and every eSIM keeps a 1 GB monthly allowance after the plan ends if you leave it installed [10]. The install is one tap with no QR code, and in our test 5G appeared immediately. On price, its Tunisia unlimited plan sits above Holafly's usual grid, and Holafly is the most expensive unlimited option in about half of our comparisons, so it is the easy choice, not the cheap one. Airalo suits travelers who want the easiest purchase and a regional plan that also covers Morocco or Egypt, but its Tunisia record has a hole. It worked well for 3 of 4 travelers who reported from Tunisia (75%), limited evidence. The successes describe setup, not speed: a reviewer in Aug 2026 who called themselves the worst person to do anything on a phone got through the install with the help desk's guidance, and a first-time eSIM user from the Netherlands found it easy to sort out after reading up on eSIMs following a Tunisia trip.

The miss, in Jul 2026, was an eSIM that did not work at all; the reviewer could use no data and asked for a refund. One of the three "worked" reports, from the same month, still called the data connection in Tunisia terrible, so the count flatters Airalo slightly: it connected for three people, but not well for all three. This fits Airalo's record across all countries in our report base, which is the weakest of the 14 providers.

Airalo's Tunisia plans run from 1 GB to 20 GB plus unlimited at 3 GB a day, then slowed; the local brand name is El Jem Communications. Its Middle East and North Africa regional plan covers 13 countries with its own unlimited option, and the global Discover+ plans add calls and texts on a US number. Airalo's country page names Ooredoo as the network, while its product pages say Orange and Ooredoo [9], and our comparison tool lists Ooredoo. No identity check is needed for Tunisia, and most packages start on first connection, though some start at install, so check the package page. On price Airalo sits at the market average and is never the cheapest; its purchase and install were among the smoothest in our Airalo test, and we saw no speed cap. Ubigi is the option for travelers who want to avoid Ooredoo, because its page names Orange Tunisie and Tunisie Telecom and nothing else [14]; it is the only provider in this article that does. That matters for interior towns and the south: Tunisie Telecom claims the widest rural footprint of the three operators and won the nPerf 2025 barometer, though that rests on the operator's own claim and a crowdsourced panel, not on traveler reports. It worked well for 2 of 3 travelers who reported from Tunisia (67%), limited evidence; one called it the best one in Tunisia in Jul 2026, and another used it on two trips and found it easy and reasonably priced.

The miss, in Jun 2026, is the kind to plan around: the reviewer expected the eSIM to connect on landing, it did not, and they went three days without a connection while paying for home roaming instead. Ubigi's "Smartstart" is meant to activate on arrival, but device setup or network selection can stop that, so test the eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly and know the APN, which is "mobiledata". This is also why Ubigi sits fifth and not higher: in our own test its email ticket went unanswered for 24 hours, the worst help desk outcome of the 14, so a connection problem on day one is yours to solve.

Ubigi sells Tunisia plans of 1, 3, 10 and 25 GB (no 5 GB or 20 GB) and unlimited for 7 or 15 days, plus Africa and World regional plans up to 200 GB. Hotspot is allowed on every plan, the eSIM is reusable across 200 or more destinations, and an unscanned QR code stays valid for six months [14]. Two things set it apart in our test: it ran without throttling on 5G, and it let us buy more data with a zero balance, which only GigSky also managed. On price it sits around the market average for fixed plans and among the cheapest for a 30-day unlimited plan. The site and app are the weakest we used, so this is not a first eSIM; our Ubigi test has the detail, and Ubigi sells the Tunisia plans from its main site.

eSIM4Travel is in this group for its price and our test, not for its Tunisia record: there is only 1 report from Tunisia so far, and it was negative. In May 2024 a first-time user wrote that the eSIM barely connected and, when it did, ran on H+ rather than 4G; eSIM4Travel offered a full refund and a free eSIM for the next trip. One report describing one failure is not a pattern, and nothing in the files describes the same failure twice, so we keep eSIM4Travel here with that report stated plainly.

What earns its place is what we tested from Switzerland. The help desk went from a short bot to a human in one click, who solved the problem and suggested switching network; the eSIM installed from an emailed QR code and worked at once; the purchase ran on the website with no app. In our comparison it is the cheapest provider at almost every plan size, and its only weak spots are 50 GB plans and small islands, neither of which applies here. Its page lists "Ooredoo, Tunisie" as a multi-operator network, which reads as Ooredoo plus Tunisie Telecom, with 4G, LTE and 3G access and a 90-day window to activate [16].

The Tunisia plans run from 100 MB for one day up to 50 GB for 30 days, with unlimited for 3 to 20 days at 3 GB a day, then slowed, and the hotspot is allowed; an Africa regional plan covers 15 western and southern African countries but not Tunisia, so stick to the country plan. Validity starts on first connection, so installing at home is safe. The downsides are the same everywhere: no app, no Google Pay at checkout, and no way to reach the shop to top up once the data is gone unless you find Wi-Fi. GoMoWorld is a coin toss in Tunisia on the reports we have. It worked well for 2 of 4 travelers who reported from Tunisia (50%), limited evidence. The misses were total: in Jun 2026 a reviewer found the purchase quick but the network in Tunisia simply did not work, and in Feb 2025 another said the app never worked and their home operator billed them for roaming instead. The success, in May 2026, was a French traveler who found the activation instructions clear once in Tunisia. Which network GoMoWorld uses here we could not confirm; its page names none.

GoMoWorld sells four Tunisia plans in our comparison tool as of October 2026, 1.5 GB for 7 days and 7, 15 or 22 GB for 30 days, 4G listed, no unlimited and no regional plan that includes Tunisia. The eSIM lives only in the app, one account per device, and nothing happens until you press Start, which is the most common cause of "not working" we have seen with this provider. In our test in Austria it was the fastest eSIM we have measured, with no throttling, and the one provider to get full marks for speed; the help desk is a good bot with humans in office hours only. Nomad has the clearest failure pattern in this article: full signal, unusable speed. It worked well for 2 of 5 travelers who reported from Tunisia (40%), limited evidence. All three misses are from Jul and Aug 2026. One reviewer had full 4G and 5G bars the whole time but found the speeds dreadful and the eSIM close to unusable; a family of four could not use their four eSIMs most of the time, found them extremely slow when they did connect, and ended up on a local Ooredoo SIM, which the reviewer said worked well where the eSIM's partner had not; a third reported no internet in Tunis at all. The two successes were a short test trip in Aug 2026 that went fine and a multi-country traveler who found the help centre easy to use.

Nomad's own pages are inconsistent about its Tunisia network: the header names Ooredoo, Orange and Tunisie Telecom, while individual plan pages show different pairs, and our comparison tool lists Ooredoo and Tunisie Telecom. Its Tunisia plans run from 1 GB for 7 days to 20 GB for 30 days, with unlimited for 5 or 10 days at 2 GB a day, then slowed, and regional MENA, Africa and global plans on top. Our tool lists a 30-day activation window; the page gave 60 days in September 2026, so treat the shorter one as safe. In our test the app was fast and had a useful home-screen data widget, but the help desk was a bot with no route to a human, which is a bad match for a country where three of five reports went wrong. Yesim has the weakest record of any provider with 3 or more reports from Tunisia: it worked well for 1 of 3 travelers who reported from here (33%), limited evidence. The three reports give no detail on what failed, so we cannot say whether the two misses were dead eSIMs or slow data. Yesim does not name its Tunisian network on its page; a third-party prepaid SIM wiki from Jul 2026 attributes it to Orange and Tunisie Telecom, which we report but could not confirm. Its page says hotspot use depends on the operator, so do not count on tethering.

Yesim's Tunisia catalogue is mostly unlimited sold by the day, from 1 to 30 days, slowed under the operator's fair-use rule at a limit Yesim does not publish, plus fixed plans of 400 MB for a day and 1 to 30 GB for 30 days, and Africa and global bundles. In our test the plan started counting at purchase, not at first use, so buy it close to the trip or use the "Activate later" option; replies from the help desk took 15 to 60 minutes each, among the slowest we tested. Jetpac has too few reports from Tunisia to rank: it worked well for 2 of 2 travelers who reported from here (100%), both frequent flyers using one global eSIM across many countries. One, in Dec 2025, used it in the US, China and Tunisia and praised the quick help desk when something went wrong; the other, in Jan 2025, used it across nine countries including Tunisia for cabs, Uber and WhatsApp, and found that a phone reboot sometimes brought the data back. Neither describes Tunisia on its own, so there is nothing to say about speed here. Jetpac does not name its Tunisian network on its page.

Jetpac's Tunisia plans in our comparison tool, as of October 2026, run from 1 GB for 4 days to 40 GB for 30 days and are all flagged 4G only, while its global plans (102 countries) carry 5G; Jetpac's page lists a Tunisia unlimited plan at 3 GB a day, then slowed, but our tool had none as of October 2026. What sets it apart: on packs of 3 GB and up, WhatsApp, Google Maps, Uber and Grab keep working after the data runs out; in-app voice packs; and a free airport lounge if your flight is delayed by an hour or more. Unactivated packs keep for three months. In our test the site and app were rough and the in-app chat took eight minutes to answer, and Jetpac sits above the market average on price for 3 to 20 GB. Roamless has one report from Tunisia, counted as working, and it is lukewarm. The reviewer in Nov 2025 said the signal in Tunisia was not terrible but far from ideal, leaned on hotel Wi-Fi, and found the credit expensive next to other eSIMs. That is too little to rank on. Roamless is the clearest of all 14 about its Tunisia setup: Ooredoo on 4G and 5G, hotspot unlimited, and a speed limit it states as "never" [15], which is the firmest anti-throttling statement in this article.

Roamless works as one global eSIM with pay-as-you-go credit that does not expire, plus 30-day Tunisia plans from 1 GB to 100 GB and a free trial of 400 MB for new users, listed in our comparison tool. ByteSIM has one report from Tunisia, and it is a good one: a reviewer in Feb 2025 used ByteSIM on an iPhone in Tunisia and China, called the speed and connection very reliable and praised the WhatsApp help desk. One report is too few to rank. ByteSIM's page names Ooredoo and Tunisie Telecom and says the eSIM switches between them automatically; daily and total plans slow to a trickle after the quota, no identity check is needed, the hotspot is allowed on every plan and the eSIM starts on arrival [13].

The catalogue is the largest for Tunisia in our comparison tool as of October 2026: 500 MB to 90 GB, daily plans with a set allowance per day, unlimited for 1 to 30 days, and validities from 1 to 30 days, with no regional plan. There are no top-ups, so size the plan right. In our test the checkout demanded a phone number and full postal address, the app was a wrapped website that failed to auto-activate, and the WhatsApp help desk did not reply in 15 minutes, though that Tunisia reviewer had the opposite experience. It also pays to know ByteSIM charges a premium for longer validity, so it looks cheaper for short trips; overall it sits at the market average. Read our ByteSIM test. GigSky is not a pick for Tunisia because of price, not coverage. Its one report from Tunisia, in Dec 2025, is positive: a frequent traveler who has used it in Colombia, Argentina, Tunisia, Costa Rica, Mexico and across Europe and says it works every time. One report is too few to rank, and the price analysis settles the rest: GigSky sells the same plan ladder in nearly every country, and in Tunisia that ladder is priced at several times the market, the highest premium of any country in our comparison. GigSky names no Tunisian network; its site says it connects to whichever network is fastest, which we could not check for Tunisia.

Its Tunisia plans in our comparison tool are small: 500 MB, 1 GB, 2 GB and 5 GB over 7 to 30 days, plus cruise regional plans with an unlimited option for anyone arriving by ship. The GigSky One subscription is never capped but slows after 2.5 GB a day [18]. In our test the app stayed online with zero data, so you can buy more without Wi-Fi, and a human answered the chat at once; the purchase needs the app and more form fields than most. Global YO is cheap in Tunisia and both of its reports from here describe an eSIM that never worked. It worked well for 0 of 2 travelers who reported from Tunisia (0%), too few to judge but not reassuring. In Apr 2026 a reviewer could not get the QR code to work after several tries and was only sent setup instructions; in Oct 2024 another wrote that the eSIM never worked from the start, that the help desk admitted a fault, and that no refund came, with the ticket closed whenever they did not reply within a day. Global YO's page names Ooredoo as the network and states 4G and LTE only, no 5G [12].

The Tunisia plans run from 1 GB for 3 days to 100 GB for 60 days, with day plans that carry a daily allowance and then slow down, plus Africa and global plans; the APN "globaldata" may need entering by hand, and a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled. Purchase is app-only, with the QR code emailed afterwards. On price Global YO is the second cheapest provider in our comparison and never the dearest, and in our test the install was quick and the speed uncapped; the help desk took ten minutes for a template reply and over half an hour for a follow-up. Read our Global YO test. Global YO might still tempt a price-driven buyer with a big data need, but the two Tunisia reports argue for installing and testing on Wi-Fi at home with time to spare.

Best eSIM Plans for Tunisia

Price per GB in Tunisia by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in Tunisia? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one or two week beach or road trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to work out yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

Two things to know before reading the tables. First, the price spread in Tunisia is unusually wide: eSIM4Travel and Global YO sit at the cheap end as they do almost everywhere, while GigSky prices Tunisia at several times the market and Holafly's Tunisia unlimited plan sits above its usual grid. Second, "unlimited" means four different things here: Holafly slows you for at most a day under fair use, Airalo and eSIM4Travel give 3 GB a day at full speed, Nomad 2 GB a day, Maya 5 GB a day, and Yesim follows an operator limit it does not publish. Best eSIM for Tunis, the Coast and the Sahara

Only two of the 42 reports name a place inside Tunisia, and both name Tunis, so the country-level pick applies everywhere; Maya Mobile, the overall pick, has no reports from a named city.

The two Tunis reports still say something. The Saily one, from Apr 2026, is the install that failed on arrival and was fixed by the help desk with a replacement eSIM; the Nomad one, from Jul 2026, is an eSIM with no internet in the capital at all. Neither mentions Tunis-Carthage airport, and no report in the file describes buying or activating at any of the four airports. For the coast from Hammamet to Djerba, no report names a resort, but every Maya and Holafly success reads like a beach holiday, and all three operators serve that corridor. For the Sahara there are no traveler reports yet; Holafly's own page lists the Chott el Djerid, Jebil National Park and the desert routes near Tataouine as weak or no-signal areas [10], and no provider claims coverage of open desert, so plan on offline maps south of Douz whichever eSIM you carry. A local eSIM for Tunis is no different from a local eSIM for the rest of the country: the table above and the provider sections are the whole picture.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Tunisia

A local SIM wins on price for anything over 20 GB, a stay over three weeks or a Tunisian phone number; for under 5 GB or a stay under a week, a travel eSIM wins on the paperwork it saves. The paperwork is the point in Tunisia. A passport is required to buy and register any Tunisian SIM, and the counter staff register it before it works; every guide we read agrees on this, though we found no regulator text that spells it out. Then Sajalni applies: a Tunisian SIM in a phone brought from abroad gets 30 days of service, after which the phone is blocked on all Tunisian networks unless its IMEI is registered on the Sajalni site [2] [3]. The registration authority's briefings, as reported in the Tunisian press, say a phone that stays in roaming mode is not affected, that at most two handsets can be registered per entry and that a wrong passport number blocks the phone; the site is also said to be unreachable from outside Tunisia, so you cannot pre-register. Whether an operator eSIM triggers the same clock as a plastic SIM we could not confirm.

The one local product worth knowing is Ooredoo's Holiday SIM, because it is also sold as an eSIM and it is the only way to get a Tunisian number without a physical SIM. As of September 2026 Ooredoo's page gives the SIM itself at TND 3.00, local calls to any Tunisian operator at TND 0.225 per minute, a 50-minute add-on to Europe and North America for TND 10.00, and four prepaid packs at TND 15.00, TND 30.00, TND 40.00 and TND 60.00 [4]. The English pre-order page says the Holiday SIM gives up to 40 GB with local and international calls for 30 days and is "also available in eSIM" [5]; Ooredoo's eSIM page says activation is by QR code, with up to ten profiles per device [6]. Third-party guides list the pack contents as 3.5, 10, 25 and 40 GB with minutes and texts, which we could not confirm on Ooredoo's page, and whether the eSIM QR code can be issued before you arrive or only at a counter after passport registration, the page does not say. Orange Tunisie's eSIM needs a visit to an Orange shop to collect the QR code, even if the order starts online [7]. Tunisie Telecom eSIM for visitors we could not confirm.

For plain data the local operators are far cheaper per GB than any travel eSIM, but every price we have is third-party and dated, so treat them as a guide: a 2024 traveler guide lists Orange at TND 20.00 for 10 GB over 30 days and Tunisie Telecom at TND 5.00 for 1 GB, a Feb 2026 provider guide puts the SIM card itself at TND 5.00 to TND 7.00 with starter credit, and a Nov 2025 tour operator guide lists a Tunisie Telecom tourist SIM for 30 days at TND 45.00. Carry dinar: the currency cannot be bought abroad or exchanged after passport control on the way out, according to the same tour operator. One source says airport counters charge city prices and others say they charge more; we could not settle that, and a 2024 report that the Tunis-Carthage counters do not open after midnight is also unconfirmed. Arrivals land at four airports, Tunis-Carthage, Enfidha-Hammamet, Monastir and Djerba-Zarzis, so an overnight arrival anywhere is a case for a travel eSIM installed before you fly.

Mobile Networks in Tunisia

There is no defensible single best network in Tunisia, and the choice between travel eSIMs should rest on the reports, not on a league table. Three operators carry every eSIM in this article: Ooredoo Tunisie, the largest, with 42.5% of active SIMs in the regulator's last published count from March 2025; Tunisie Telecom, the state-controlled incumbent, with 30.5%; and Orange Tunisie with 26.8%, plus two tiny MVNOs (virtual operators renting another network), Lycamobile on Tunisie Telecom and Asel Mobile [1]. The regulator stopped the monthly series after March 2025, so no newer official share exists; a BMI industry report from April 2026 puts Ooredoo higher and the other two lower, and we present both rather than pick. Mobile penetration was 119% of the population in that March 2025 count [1], so the networks are mature and the coast is dense with sites.

The two independent measurement panels disagree outright. Opensignal's September 2026 report gives Ooredoo almost every award for speed, reliability and consistent quality, with Tunisie Telecom first only on 5G availability and Orange last on 5G; nPerf's barometer for calendar 2025 ranks Tunisie Telecom first for the seventh year running, Orange a close second with the best latency and video streaming, and Ooredoo third, though improving fastest. The two panels measured different periods with different methods and their download figures differ by more than three times, so neither is wrong and neither settles it. What the operators say about themselves: Ooredoo claimed in September 2024 to cover more than 98% of the population with 4G, Tunisie Telecom's chief executive claimed in February 2025 that 4G reaches almost every town and 99.8% of remote areas, and Orange said it launched 5G with 400 sites and more to come [8]. None of those claims has been independently audited, and no operator publishes a coverage map we could open; nPerf's crowdsourced map is the best substitute.

For a trip this means: on the coast and in the cities any network works, so pick on the reports and the price; in interior towns and the south, Tunisie Telecom's claim and nPerf's browsing scores favour it, which is the case for Ubigi, ByteSIM and eSIM4Travel, the three providers here whose pages name Tunisie Telecom; for the open desert, nothing. 5G launched commercially on all three networks on 13 and 14 February 2025 according to three industry outlets, and pages claiming Tunisia has no 5G are out of date; Global YO and Jetpac's Tunisia country plans are 4G only. 3G is still live and no file names a shutdown date. Who rides what, from the providers' own pages: Roamless and Global YO on Ooredoo alone; Airalo on Ooredoo, with Orange added on its product pages; Holafly on Orange and Ooredoo; ByteSIM and eSIM4Travel on Ooredoo and Tunisie Telecom; Ubigi on Orange and Tunisie Telecom; Nomad on a mix that differs by plan page; and Saily, Yesim, Jetpac, GigSky, GoMoWorld and Maya name none. How to Set Up an eSIM for Tunisia

Install at home and test on Wi-Fi, because the Tunisia misses in the reports are mostly eSIMs that never connected, and three of the providers with Tunisia reports have help desks we could not reach in our test.

1. Check that your phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable; our first eSIM guide walks through the check and the purchase.
2. Buy a few days before you fly, not at the airport. Saily, GoMoWorld, Roamless and GigSky sell only in their apps, Global YO needs the app to buy and then emails the QR code, and the rest email a QR code. Watch the activation windows: 30 days for Nomad in our comparison tool, 90 days for eSIM4Travel [16], three months for Jetpac, six months for an unscanned Ubigi code [14], and for Saily either 180 or 30 days depending on which version of its page you read in September 2026.
3. Install on Wi-Fi at home. Almost every plan starts on first connection in Tunisia, so installing early costs nothing, with two exceptions: Yesim's plan started counting at purchase in our test, and GoMoWorld does nothing until you press Start in the app. Our guides for adding an eSIM on iPhone and adding an eSIM on Samsung cover the screens.
4. Set the APN if the provider asks: "globaldata" for Maya and Global YO, "mobiledata" for Ubigi, "gigsky" for GigSky, and "Proximus Internet" for Roamless, which did not work on its preselected APN in our test.
5. On landing, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and switch off the physical SIM's data if the eSIM does not pick up; a Jetpac reviewer found a reboot helped, and a Holafly reviewer got 5G at once only after choosing the network by hand.
6. If it still does not connect, follow our eSIM troubleshooting guide before contacting the help desk, and remember that Ubigi's reviewer waited three days for a connection that was meant to be automatic.

Calls and SMS in Tunisia

No travel eSIM in this article gives you a Tunisian phone number, so if you need a +216 number for local bookings or a delivery driver, Ooredoo's Holiday SIM or its eSIM version is the only route, and it comes with the passport and Sajalni rules in the local SIM section. Tunisia's calling code is +216. Every Tunisia plan in our comparison tool is data-only, with no minutes or texts; the voice options that exist are either app-based or foreign numbers.

Airalo's global Discover+ plans include calls and texts on a US number, and the Tunisia plans do not. Jetpac sells in-app voice packs and its Tunisia reviewers used it for WhatsApp and ride apps. Roamless offers in-app calls and an optional second number, UK or US, for a monthly fee. Global YO has outgoing calls over the internet in its app. Saily's number add-on is a US number with an identity check. For everyone else, calls go over WhatsApp or a similar app, which is how the Tunisia reviewers for Maya, Jetpac and Nomad used their data.

Free eSIM Data for Tunisia

Roamless gives new users a free trial that works in Tunisia: our comparison tool lists a free Tunisia eSIM with 400 MB, no throttling, tethering allowed, and a 30-day trial that starts on activation. Nomad advertises a free 1 GB trial eSIM for new users on its Tunisia page, GoMoWorld a free one-day trial, GigSky 100 MB and Jetpac a 100 MB starter eSIM, all general offers rather than Tunisia-specific ones. Holafly's eSIMs keep a free 1 GB every 30 days after the plan ends if you leave the eSIM installed [10]. Summary: the best eSIM for Tunisia

Based on 42 traveler reports and our own tests, Maya Mobile is the best option for most trips to Tunisia: it worked well for 7 of 7 travelers who reported from here, on a global unlimited plan that is the cheapest of its kind in our comparison, with the one weakness that it sells nothing shorter than 3 days and no small plan. Saily (3 of 3) is the choice for a first eSIM, with the help desk that rescued a failed install in Tunis, at a price that is usually among the higher ones here. Holafly (4 of 5) suits a resort week on unlimited data, with a speed that was capped from the start in our test and a hotspot limited to 1 GB a day.
