Key takeaways
Based on 40 traveler reports from Cyprus and our tests, the best option for most trips is Airalo: it worked well for 6 of 7 travelers, but its Northern Cyprus record is mixed. Holafly had the same 6 of 7 and unlimited data, but capped speeds and no Northern Cyprus cover. Maya Mobile (9 of 12) draws praise for support, but both Northern Cyprus reports failed. Nomad (3 of 4) has three networks, yet one traveler found coverage poor island-wide. Ubigi (2 of 3) suits tech-savvy travelers, but its support gave no reply in our test. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest in our comparison and has no reports yet.

The best eSIM for Cyprus depends first on whether you will cross into Northern Cyprus. Two providers say on their Cyprus pages that the north is excluded: Holafly [14] and Ubigi [16]. Most other providers say nothing either way, and in the reports we read, the north is where several eSIMs failed.
Elsewhere on the island, coverage is rarely the problem. Cyta, the largest network, says its 5G reaches the whole population, including mountain villages in the Troodos range. That claim comes from Cypriot press reports of a Cyta announcement, and no Cypriot operator publishes a coverage map to check it against. The regulator's CyAtlas is the only official map [1]. Epic began switching off its 3G network in February 2026 and says voice and SMS continue on 4G and 5G with VoLTE [4].
Almost all visitors arrive by air, through Larnaca or Paphos [3]. Plan to land with data already working: one Airalo traveler had no data in the arrival area on 11 Aug 2026 and bought a local SIM at the airport. Local SIMs also need ID registration under Cypriot law [6], which a travel eSIM avoids; ByteSIM's page says no ID is required [17].

How well each provider's eSIM works in Cyprus
The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Cyprus. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 40 public customer reviews that mention Cyprus or a place in it, published between January 2025 and August 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 6 of 7 means the eSIM worked well for 6 of the 7 travelers who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run outside Cyprus, so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here. Local operator prices in the text are as of August 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.

Airalo eSIM in our hands
Airalo had the best record in Cyprus under our sort order, and it suits first-time buyers who stay in the south. It worked well for 6 of 7 travelers who reported from Cyprus (limited evidence, 86%). The successes are simple trips: one week of maps and messaging, installed before the flight. One traveler wrote on 20 Jul 2026 that it was "good value and cheaper for roaming in Cyprus" than a home provider's plan, and added a warning to switch off the home SIM's data to avoid its charges.
The problems in the reviews are about place, not about the whole network. One traveler connected but had no data in the arrival area on 11 Aug 2026. It started working once they left the airport, and by then they had bought a local travel SIM sold at the airport. Another traveler bought an eSIM for Northern Cyprus that would not work after activation (13 Jul 2026) and says the rules appear to have changed. Two other Northern Cyprus reviewers wrote on 8 and 14 Jul 2026 that theirs worked, so the north was mixed. Airalo's Cyprus page names PrimeTel as its network [13]. Third-party reports from 2024 put Airalo on Cytamobile-Vodafone, so the partner appears to have changed, and we could not confirm when.
Airalo sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 50 GB and unlimited plans for 3 to 30 days that slow down after a daily allowance. Our comparison tool also lists separate Northern Cyprus plans, shown as Turkcell, and Europe and global plans that cover Cyprus, including Discover+ plans with calls and texts. In our test, buying and installing were among the easiest of any provider, and support was a bot first and a human after a queue; read the details in our Airalo review. Its price is usually around the market average, never the cheapest. The main drawbacks are the arrival-area gap and the mixed Northern Cyprus record, so Airalo is best for a south-coast trip.

Holafly is an Irish eSIM provider built around unlimited data, with trip eSIMs for 200+ destinations. Travelers report it working more often than any other provider we track. Its weak points are speed and price: our test ran at about 30 Mbps on 5G, and its unlimited plans cost more than most.

Holafly eSIM in our hands
Holafly suits travelers who want unlimited data on the Greek side of the island without managing it, but in our test its speed was capped from the start. It worked well for 6 of 7 travelers who reported from Cyprus (limited evidence, 86%), the same record as Airalo. In practice the cap is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, and slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. The successes describe instant connection on arrival: "Fantastic coverage throughout my trip to Cyprus" (29 Jun 2026).
Three reviews describe problems. One traveler saw very slow data on an unlimited plan (14 Jul 2026). Another could only get LTE, with no navigation or WhatsApp, then fought over a refund that was first declined (18 May 2026). A third was told by an advisor that a Turkish eSIM would work in Northern Cyprus, then told it would not, then found it did (17 Jul 2026). Holafly's Cyprus page excludes Northern Cyprus [14], yet one traveler who used its Middle East plan said it worked on both sides of the border without changing eSIM (29 May 2026).
Holafly sells unlimited plans only, from 1 to 30 days on its Cyprus page, on Cyta and PrimeTel [14]. Its hotspot is limited to 1 GB a day, use above about 90 GB a month may be slowed [14], and you cannot top up: you buy a new eSIM. A deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled. Its price is among the higher unlimited prices in our comparison. Our comparison tool listed no Holafly plans for Cyprus at export, so there is no plan table here; Holafly's own page lists them. Holafly's refund window is six months [14]. Our test found a one-tap install and a quick, helpful human after the bot; the rest is in our Holafly review. Holafly is a safe pick with a stated drawback, not a first pick for heavy data users.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands
Maya Mobile suits travelers who combine Cyprus with other countries and want a human to answer quickly. It worked well for 9 of 12 travelers who reported from Cyprus (limited evidence, 75%), the largest sample of any provider. The successes are in the south: one reviewer wrote that "signal reception and data flow in Paphos was good" (5 Oct 2025), and another switched to Maya after a different eSIM found no signal and said it "worked like a charm" (25 Nov 2025). Support was praised in several reviews, with a fix in 25 minutes in one and a quick refund after a wrong-country order in another (14 Dec 2025).
Both Northern Cyprus reports failed. One traveler was told by Maya's chatbot that coverage would work, arrived to no data and paid roaming fees of about €85 on the home SIM; Maya refunded the plan but not the fees (14 Apr 2026). Another was told by support within 30 minutes that the eSIM would not work in the north (11 Sep 2025). One 4-star reviewer found the signal weak in some parts of Cyprus (26 Oct 2025). If you plan to cross the Green Line, treat Maya as a south-only eSIM.
Maya sells one global unlimited plan family for 3, 7, 14 and 30 days, hotspot included. There is no Cyprus plan and nothing small, so it is poor value for a short Cyprus-only trip, but it is the cheapest global unlimited we compared. Maya's page says there are no caps, which the research could not confirm; our comparison tool lists a full-speed daily allowance, and in our test speed dropped after a daily allowance, the fairest of the unlimited plans we tried. Maya's page names no network we could find. In our test, a WhatsApp bot led to a human in about 9 minutes; see our Maya Mobile review. Maya Mobile is a good fit for a one- or two-week trip that includes more than one country.

Nomad eSIM in our hands
Nomad suits experienced users who can fix problems themselves. It worked well for 3 of 4 travelers who reported from Cyprus (limited evidence, 75%). Its Cyprus benefit is three networks to switch between: its page lists Epic, Cytamobile-Vodafone and PrimeTel [15], so Cyta, the largest network, is among them. One reviewer wrote "Excellent service and coverage in Greece and Cyprus" (9 May 2026).
The clearest failure is a 1-star review from 18 Jun 2026: over 8 days in several regions, in the capital and on a highway, data kept dropping, worked mainly under 5G, and was "slow as dialup internet" on 4G. A second 1-star review (16 Aug 2026) describes 7 hours of chat to get an eSIM working in Cyprus, then failures in Athens and Geneva. These are coverage and activation problems, not a Cyprus exclusion, and they hurt more because support was the weak point in our test: the AI bot looped on an APN question, timed out and had no route to a human.
Nomad sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 50 GB and unlimited plans for 3 to 10 days that slow after a daily allowance, plus a Cyprus trial plan and Europe and global plans. Add-on data is available on some plans, and the app has a home-screen widget for remaining data. Calls are not included in its Cyprus plans. Its price is a little below the market average, though higher in Europe. For how to switch between networks, read our guide to eSIMs with several networks, and for the test findings our Nomad review. Nomad suits travelers who will not need the help desk.

Ubigi is the travel eSIM brand of Paris operator Transatel, with one reusable eSIM for 200+ destinations. Data was fast in our test, and its 3 GB, 10 GB and 30-day unlimited plans are cheap. Its weak point is support: a chatbot that ends in an email ticket, with no live agent.

Ubigi eSIM in our hands
Ubigi suits tech-savvy travelers who stay in the south. It worked well for 2 of 3 travelers who reported from Cyprus (limited evidence, 67%), the smallest sample in the Best group. One reviewer (24 Jul 2026) had no problem with registration, installation or activation and stayed connected on a one-week trip around the island.
The one miss: a 3 GB plan for one week gave internet only on the first of four days, and the app showed "No active data plan yet" (9 Aug 2026). That matches our test, where Ubigi's support was the worst we tried: after a good bot checklist, an email ticket got no reply in 24 hours. Ubigi's Cyprus plans exclude Northern Cyprus [16], yet one traveler wrote that it worked well in North Cyprus (16 May 2026). Ubigi's Turkey unlimited plan lists Northern Cyprus [16].
Ubigi runs on Epic and PrimeTel in Cyprus [16]. It sells Cyprus plans from 3 GB to 50 GB and unlimited plans for 7, 15 and 30 days; on the 7-day unlimited plan, speed slows after 20 GB [16]. Validity starts on arrival, and unactivated plans expire after six months [16]. In our test you could still top up at zero data, but the app and site were weak; see our Ubigi review. Its price is below the market average, with some of the cheapest unlimited plans. Ubigi is a fair choice for readers who want price and do not need help.

eSIM4Travel eSIM in our hands
eSIM4Travel is in the Best group on its price and our tests, not on Cyprus reports: no traveler has reported from Cyprus yet. In our test, run in Switzerland and not in Cyprus, its help desk was the best we tried, with one click from the bot to a person who solved the problem. The eSIM installed from a QR code and worked right away, and it is bought on the website and sent by email, with no app. In our comparison it is usually the cheapest provider, and the Cyprus plans in our comparison tool were the cheapest at 2 GB to 10 GB at export.
Its Cyprus page names Cyta, Epic and PrimeTel in its URL but says only "multiple major carriers" in the text, so we treat the network as weakly sourced. Plan names in our comparison tool list MTN (the old name of Epic) and PrimeTel on every plan, and Cyta on some. The page states 4G, LTE and 3G only, with no 5G, and showed a product-upgrade notice when we checked in August 2026. We found nothing on Northern Cyprus, so check the plan page before you cross.
The downsides are real. There is no app, so once the data runs out you cannot reach the store without Wi-Fi. There is no Google Pay, the card is typed by hand, and a top-up needs the website. eSIM4Travel sells Cyprus plans from 0.5 GB to 50 GB and unlimited plans for 3 to 30 days that slow after a daily allowance; validity starts on first connection and tethering is allowed. It suits cheap short trips in the south for people who value a human help desk; the details are in our eSIM4Travel review. eSIM4Travel has the highest Vefru test score of the 14 providers.

Jetpac eSIM in our hands
Jetpac is not a top pick for Cyprus because only two travelers reported from it (too few to judge), although it worked well for 2 of 2. One reviewer used a global Jetpac eSIM in Cyprus among many countries (13 Jan 2025). The other found Cyprus missing from the Europe pack in June 2025 and got a 2 GB global pack from Jetpac after complaining on Trustpilot (20 Jun 2025); our comparison tool now lists Europe packs that cover Cyprus.
Jetpac sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 40 GB and unlimited plans for 7 and 10 days, all flagged 4G only in our comparison tool. Unlimited slows after a daily allowance. When we checked in August 2026, a 20 GB plan cost more than a 40 GB plan, which may be a temporary error. It adds in-app voice packs, free WhatsApp and Maps after data runs out on larger packs, and a lounge pass on flight delays. Its page names no network (checked August 2026), and the app was rough in our test; see our Jetpac review. Jetpac suits frequent flyers who want calls.

Saily eSIM in our hands
Saily suits first-timers who want the easiest app and the fastest help desk in our tests, but only two travelers reported from Cyprus (too few to judge). It worked well for 2 of 2. One reviewer has used Saily in Spain, Cyprus, Tenerife and Mexico without an issue (3 Jul 2026). The other lives in Cyprus and, on a road trip to Northern Cyprus, wrote "I got a Turkey eSIM (data only) and it works like a charm" (11 Jul 2026). That is one report, which we did not test.
Saily sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 20 GB and an unlimited plan for 15 days with a daily allowance, plus Europe, Middle East and global plans that cover Cyprus. Its page names no network (checked August 2026). The price is among the most expensive in the popular destinations we compare, which is why it sits here; see our Saily review. Global YO eSIM in our hands
Global YO suits price-driven buyers who install at home, but only one traveler reported from Cyprus (too few to judge). It worked well for 1 of 1: the reviewer used it in Türkiye and Cyprus and called it a really good eSIM (15 May 2026).
Global YO sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 100 GB and day plans with a daily allowance, and no unlimited plan. You buy in the app only, and the QR is emailed after. Its page lists a small activation fee and a one-year profile, and it has a separate Northern Cyprus page. Its page names no network (checked August 2026). Roamless is a US provider built around one global eSIM for 203 destinations, paid with pay-as-you-go credit. It was fast and unthrottled in our test, and travelers report it working in 91% of cases. Its weak point is buying: the website forces you into the app, and large data amounts cost more than most rivals.

Roamless eSIM in our hands
Roamless suits light users who visit several countries and want one eSIM, but only one traveler reported from Cyprus (too few to judge), counted as worked well for 1 of 1. The one review we have is a 3-star review about calls, not data: on landing (19 Sep 2025) the traveler could not phone a car rental agency from the phone app, because the eSIM is data only. Roamless says its in-app calls feature covers that.
Our comparison tool lists Roamless as Cyta in Cyprus, while its own page names no network (checked August 2026). It sells Cyprus plans from under 1 GB to 200 GB, on 30-day validity or as pay-as-you-go credit with no expiry, and a free 30-day trial plan. There is no unlimited plan. It also has a dedicated Northern Cyprus page. The app is the only way to buy, and our test found an APN problem at install; support fixed it in 29 minutes. See our Roamless review. Roamless fits small, flexible data needs.

Yesim eSIM in our hands
Yesim suits experienced users who want flexible daily unlimited plans, but only one traveler reported from Cyprus (too few to judge), and it worked well for 1 of 1. The slow help desk puts it here: in our test each reply took 15 to 60 minutes, among the slowest we tried.
Yesim sells Cyprus unlimited plans by the day from 1 to 30 days, with provider throttling and an unpublished limit, and fixed plans from 0.5 GB to 30 GB, plus Europe and global bundles. Its page names no network (checked August 2026) and claims automatic switching to the strongest local carrier. Our test plan started at purchase, so buy close to the trip. Its unlimited price is at the market average and its fixed plans are dear; see our Yesim review. Yesim fits people who will not need quick help.

GoMoWorld is the travel eSIM brand of Irish operator eir, with plans in 202 countries. Every destination has the same four euro prices, and we saw no throttling at all. The catch is that everything happens in the app, and human support works only in office hours.

GoMoWorld eSIM in our hands
GoMoWorld has no traveler reports from Cyprus yet, so we cannot say how it worked there. In our test, run in Austria, it was the fastest provider and showed no throttling, which suits heavy data users. It sits here because of the missing record and an app-only setup: the eSIM is never emailed, one account covers one device, and nothing works until you press Start.
GoMoWorld sells Cyprus plans from 4 GB to 500 GB plus Europe plans, with no unlimited plan and no calls. Plans stay dormant until activated. Humans answer only in office hours, and its page names no network (checked August 2026). The price is below the market average, best from 5 GB; see our GoMoWorld review. GoMoWorld fits large data needs on a Europe trip.

ByteSIM eSIM in our hands
ByteSIM has no traveler reports from Cyprus yet. Its page names Epic and PrimeTel with automatic switching [17] and says no ID is required [17]. It sits here because our tests found a clumsy checkout, an app that wraps the website, and a WhatsApp help desk that did not answer within 15 minutes.
ByteSIM sells Cyprus plans from 0.5 GB to 300 GB, many of them daily plans, plus unlimited plans for 1 to 30 days. On unlimited plans, speed drops to a very low rate after the high-speed allowance [17]. It has a six-month money-back guarantee [17], no top-ups, and a separate Northern Cyprus product on Turkcell and Vodafone TR [17]. Its price is around the market average and cheap for short trips; see our ByteSIM review. ByteSIM suits experienced users.

GigSky eSIM in our hands
GigSky has no traveler reports from Cyprus yet. It suits cruise and ferry passengers and anyone who needs to top up with no Wi-Fi, because its app stays partly online when data runs out. It is the dearest provider overall in our comparison, though at market in big European markets, so it is not a top pick for Cyprus.
GigSky sells Cyprus plans from 1 GB to 50 GB and a 1-day unlimited pass, plus cruise and Europe plans that cover Cyprus. Unlimited slows after a daily allowance. A top-up is dated from the day you buy it, not added to the old expiry, so buy the next one close to the end. There is a free 100 MB trial, and you must install the app to buy. Its page names no network (checked August 2026). See our GigSky review. GigSky fits cruises and rare islands.

Best eSIM Plans for Cyprus
Price per GB in Cyprus by eSIM Provider
How much does each provider charge per GB in Cyprus? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

Fixed-size plans and unlimited plans both exist for Cyprus, but unlimited plans slow down after a daily allowance with most providers, and Jetpac's Cyprus plans are 4G only in our comparison tool. Holafly and Maya sell unlimited plans only, while Global YO, GoMoWorld and Roamless have none. For a data estimate based on your own habits, use the travel data calculator. Best eSIM for Northern Cyprus and Paphos
| Where you are going | What the reports show | Our pick |
|---|---|---|
| Northern Cyprus | Airalo 2 of 3 worked, Maya 0 of 2, others too few | Airalo (the only provider with 3 or more reports; results were mixed) |
| Paphos | too few reports | Country pick applies |
Best eSIM for Northern Cyprus
Airalo is the pick for Northern Cyprus because it sells separate Northern Cyprus plans, listed as Turkcell in our comparison tool, and it is the only provider with 3 or more reports there. The record is still mixed: 2 of 3 travelers said it worked, with a success on 8 Jul 2026 and 14 Jul 2026 and a failure on 13 Jul 2026 from a traveler who says the rules appear to have changed. Check the plan page names the north before you buy.
The runners-up show why. Both Maya reports failed: one traveler paid roaming fees of about €85 on the home SIM after the chatbot said coverage would work (14 Apr 2026), and another was refunded after support said the eSIM would not work in the north (11 Sep 2025). Holafly's Cyprus plan excludes the north [14], though one traveler said its Middle East plan worked on both sides of the border (29 May 2026) and another was given contradictory advice about a Turkish eSIM (17 Jul 2026). Ubigi's Cyprus plans exclude it [16], yet one traveler said it worked well in North Cyprus (16 May 2026), and its Turkey unlimited plan lists the north [16]. A Turkey plan from another provider is a route too: a Cyprus resident wrote that a Saily Turkey data plan worked on a road trip to the north (11 Jul 2026). Our Turkey eSIM guide covers those plans. Roamless and ByteSIM have separate Northern Cyprus pages or products [17], and Global YO has a separate Northern Cyprus page, but we have no traveler reports for them from the north.
Paphos has only one report (Maya, 1 of 1: "signal reception and data flow in Paphos was good", 5 Oct 2025), too few to judge. We have no traveler reports from the Troodos mountains. Cyta says its last 5G gap was a Troodos mountain village, a claim we could not check, and no operator publishes a coverage map, so check the regulator's CyAtlas for your route [1]. On airports, the only review that says what happened is the Airalo traveler with no data in the arrival area on 11 Aug 2026.
Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Cyprus
A local SIM or operator eSIM costs less than a travel eSIM on trips longer than about three days and adds a Cypriot number, while a travel eSIM wins when you want data working before you land, with no ID check and no Greek-language order form. Prices below are as of August 2026, taken from each operator's page; the regulator's cyCompare tool shows current prices for every retail mobile product [2].
- Cyta soeasy eSIM, €12: 50 GB, 500 minutes, 500 SMS and a new number. Allowances last 31 days and the number 90 days. The order page is Greek only, and ID is needed before the line works [8].
- Cyta soeasy Combo 10, €10: 50 GB, 500 minutes and 500 SMS for 31 days [7].
- Epic Holiday Internet, €15: unlimited data for 15 days from registration [5]. The page's own FAQ gives a different length, so check before you buy.
- Cablenet Always On 30, €10: unlimited data, minutes and SMS for 30 days. Cablenet sells its prepaid eSIM in a store only, so an arriving traveler gets a physical SIM [12].
- PrimeTel eSIM, €15: 250 GB and €1 of airtime for 30 days. It is online only, and the device list stops at the iPhone 12 and Galaxy S21 generation [10]. PrimeTel's Travel Internet Pack has 250 GB for 20 days on 4G [9], but we could not confirm its price, and PrimeTel's tourist products do not work elsewhere in the EU [11].
Cyprus requires identification for prepaid SIMs and eSIMs under Law 63(I)/2024, and the line does not work until it is done [6] [12]. Epic has required new pay-as-you-go customers to register before activation since 4 Dec 2025 and accepts a passport from non-EU nationals [6]. Cablenet withholds roaming on a new number until you make the first local call inside Cyprus [12].
Operator stores, kiosks, mini-markets and petrol stations sell SIMs across the island. Travel guides place SIM kiosks in the arrival halls at Larnaca and Paphos, but we could not verify airport prices, and guides warn that kiosks may be closed for late-night arrivals. The consistent trade-off is friction, not price: a travel eSIM saves you roughly ten minutes of paperwork on a trip of two to four weeks.
Mobile Networks in Cyprus
Cyprus has four networks, Cyta, Epic, PrimeTel and Cablenet, and most travel eSIMs ride PrimeTel, then Epic. According to regulator figures reported by Cyprus Mail for the first half of 2025, Cyta has just over half of mobile connections. Cyta also says it won Ookla's mobile awards for the second half of 2025; that comes from a Cyta announcement relayed by the press, and we have not confirmed it with Ookla.
Epic publishes the only geographic coverage figure of any Cypriot operator, 99.55% for 4G [4]. PrimeTel and Cablenet publish no coverage figures, and no operator publishes a map, so the regulator's CyAtlas is the neutral check [1]. Epic is also switching off 3G, from February 2026 and due to finish before summer 2026, with voice and SMS moving to 4G and 5G with VoLTE [4].
Which provider rides which network, as the research labels it: Airalo runs on PrimeTel [13]. Holafly names Cyta and PrimeTel [14], Nomad names Epic, Cytamobile-Vodafone and PrimeTel [15], and Ubigi and ByteSIM name Epic and PrimeTel [16] [17]. eSIM4Travel's page URL names Cyta, Epic and PrimeTel, a weak source. Our comparison tool lists Roamless as Cyta. Saily, Jetpac, Yesim, GigSky, Global YO and GoMoWorld named no network on their pages when we checked in August 2026. The result is that Cyta, the network that wins the awards, is on only a few travel eSIMs, so a local Cyta SIM is the only reliable route to it.
For a trip, that means a south-coast resort stay is safe on any of them, while mountain drives and the north need a check. Our guide to eSIMs with several networks explains how to switch operator by hand, which matters on Nomad and eSIM4Travel.
How to Set Up an eSIM for Cyprus
Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi, because almost all plans start on first connection, not on install. Yesim and some Airalo packages are exceptions, and GoMoWorld needs a manual Start, so check the package page.
- Check your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, then read how to add an eSIM on an iPhone or a Samsung phone.
- Pick a plan that names where you are going. If you will cross into the north, the plan page must say so.
- Buy before you fly. Activation windows differ: eSIM4Travel allows 90 days, and unactivated Ubigi plans expire after six months [16].
- On landing, turn the eSIM on, switch data roaming on, and switch data roaming off on your home SIM to avoid its charges.
- If data does not load, check the APN in the provider's guide, then follow our eSIM troubleshooting guide. Save offline maps first, since one traveler had no data in the arrival area.
- Keep Wi-Fi access for top-ups: most apps stop working at zero data, except GigSky and Ubigi.
Calls and SMS in Cyprus
Most travel eSIMs are data only, so calls go over WhatsApp or another app. Cyprus's calling code is +357. In our comparison tool, only Airalo's Discover+ plans, which cover Cyprus, include calls and texts, and our test found a US number with them.
Other routes: Jetpac sells in-app voice packs, Roamless has in-app calls and an optional second number, Global YO has outgoing in-app calls, and Saily has a US number add-on. One Roamless traveler could not call a car rental from the phone app and had to use the in-app feature (19 Sep 2025). If you want a Cypriot number, a local SIM is the alternative: Cablenet's Always On 30 includes unlimited minutes and SMS [12]. Remember that switching off your home SIM's data also means calls and texts to your home number only arrive over WhatsApp or similar.
Free eSIM Data for Cyprus
Two trial plans for Cyprus appear in our comparison tool: a free 30-day trial plan from Roamless, which starts on activation, and a Nomad trial plan. GigSky also lists a free 100 MB trial. These are for testing the install, not for a trip. For more, read our guide to free eSIM data.

Summary: the best eSIM for Cyprus
Based on 40 traveler reports from Cyprus and our tests, the best option for most trips is Airalo: it worked well for 6 of 7 travelers, but its Northern Cyprus record is mixed. Holafly had the same 6 of 7 and unlimited data, but its speeds were capped in our test and its Cyprus plan excludes the north. Maya Mobile (9 of 12) draws praise for support and suits multi-country trips, but both Northern Cyprus reports failed. Nomad (3 of 4) has three networks, but one traveler found coverage poor island-wide and its support was unreachable in our test. Ubigi (2 of 3) suits tech-savvy travelers, but its support did not reply in our test. eSIM4Travel is usually the cheapest, with no reports from Cyprus yet, no app and no top-up without Wi-Fi.
No provider has 20 or more reports, so all of this is limited evidence. A local SIM can cost less on trips longer than about three days but needs ID. For the best eSIM for Cyprus, the reports and our tests point to Airalo as a safe pick, with the north and the airport arrival area as its weak spots.
