Best eSIM for Denmark in 2026: 14 Providers Ranked by Traveler Reports

Best eSIM Denmark
Key Takeaways

Key takeaways

Based on 73 Denmark traveler reports and our tests, the best option for most trips is Nomad: it worked well for all 18 travelers who reported, though its help desk was hard to reach in our test. Maya Mobile (9 of 9) suits week-long multi-country trips on its global unlimited plan. Ubigi (10 of 10) names all three networks on its 30-day unlimited, but we could not reach its support. GigSky (8 of 9) had the best Copenhagen record and suits cruises, but is dear. Holafly (5 of 6) is easy unlimited data, speed capped from the start in our test. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest here and lists all four networks, but has no app and no Denmark reports yet.

The best eSIM for Denmark depends less on the provider's brand than on which Danish network it rides. Denmark is flat, with its highest natural point under 200 m, so coverage gaps come from mast density, water crossings and thick walls, not from mountains. The places where a travel eSIM is most likely to drop are the Wadden Sea islands, the west coast of Jutland, ferry crossings and Bornholm in the Baltic, and Holafly's own Denmark page names the Wadden Sea islands, Møns Klint and parts of the northern Jutland coast as spots where its coverage may be weak [6]. For those areas the network behind the eSIM matters, and the networks section below says which provider rides which.

Two things make Denmark unusual. None of the four mobile brands sells a prepaid SIM to visitors any more, according to the prepaid SIM guides we read in August 2026; the only visitor-accessible prepaid products come from two resellers, Lebara and Lyca Mobile, and Copenhagen Airport sells no Danish SIM at all. And every Denmark plan we found covers the mainland and its islands only: the Faroe Islands and Greenland are separate telecom markets, and Nomad's page says its coverage may not include overseas territories [9]. If your trip continues there, you need a separate plan.

We read 73 public traveler reports from Denmark, between April 2024 and August 2026, and matched them against our own hands-on tests of all 14 providers in our comparison tool. Peak season is July and August, which is also when most of the reports below were written. Most travelers combine Denmark with Sweden, Norway or Germany, so where a regional plan behaved differently at a border, we say so.

Best eSIM Providers for Denmark

eSIM plans in Denmark at a glance

How well each provider's eSIM works in Denmark

The Vefru score is our overall rating of the provider. The percentage shows how many reviewers said their eSIM worked well in Denmark. Since unhappy customers review more often, it is best used to compare providers with each other.

How we got these numbers: we read 73 public customer reviews that mention Denmark or a place in it, published between April 2024 and August 2026, and counted a report as "worked" when the reviewer said the eSIM connected, even with small hiccups. We treat 20 or more reports as strong evidence, 3 to 19 as limited, and fewer than 3 as too few to judge. A count like 18 of 18 means the eSIM worked well for 18 of the 18 travelers who reported from here; each provider section says what went wrong for the rest. The Vefru test score is a separate number: our own hands-on test of the provider, run outside Denmark, so it says how the provider behaves, not how the network performs here. Local operator prices in the text were checked on 25 Sep 2026; provider ratings, the plan tables and the price-per-GB chart are live and update on their own.

Nomad eSIM in our hands

Nomad testing preview Nomad testing speed 1 Nomad testing speed 2 Nomad testing support

Nomad is the best option for most trips to Denmark, because it has the strongest record of any provider here. It worked well for all 18 travelers who reported from Denmark (100%), which is limited evidence by our scale but twice the next-best count. The successes read alike: Scandinavia tours through Denmark, Sweden and Norway, a two-week cruise with shore days in Copenhagen and the Norwegian fjords, a drive from Hamburg to Sønderborg, and streaming F1 and football from a Dutch home account without trouble. One traveler summed it up on 4 Jul 2026: "The connection in Sweden, Denmark, and Norway was always stable and worked well and reliably."

The hiccups travelers describe were about setup and borders, not dead zones. One had to wait a day or two before the app worked in Denmark, the first country of the trip, and found Apple Maps and Google Maps would not load on Nomad data, so downloaded maps on Wi-Fi. Another lost the connection crossing from Norway into Denmark and needed hotel Wi-Fi to reset it. A third had the eSIM stop on day three in Denmark with data left and could not re-register on Telia; Nomad's help desk gave a workaround. That matches our own test, where the help bot looped on an APN question with no route to a person and the email reply came later, so Nomad suits travelers who can fix a roaming toggle themselves (our Nomad review has the detail).

Nomad's Denmark page named 3 and TDC as its networks when we checked in September 2026, a switch from the 3 and Telia it listed earlier in the year [9], and TDC is the network that wins on geographic reach outside the cities (see the networks section). In our comparison tool Nomad sells Denmark plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, a Scandinavia-friendly Europe plan, a global plan, and Denmark unlimited for 3 to 10 days at 2 GB a day of full speed, after which it slows. Tethering is allowed and the plan starts on first connection. On price it sits around the market average in our comparison, dearer in Europe than in the Americas. Main drawback: no refund after activation and a help desk you should not count on.

Maya Mobile eSIM in our hands

Maya Mobile testing preview Maya Mobile testing speed 1 Maya Mobile testing speed 2 Maya Mobile testing support

Maya Mobile is the pick for a week or more across several countries, because its one global unlimited plan covers Denmark and every neighbour, and every traveler who reported from Denmark was happy with it. It worked well for 9 of 9 travelers (100%), limited evidence. The reports span six-month stays in Europe, three weeks in Sweden and Denmark with a sister sharing the hotspot, a Spain-plus-Denmark trip, and city stops in Copenhagen, Oslo and Hamburg. One traveler wrote on 13 Aug 2025: "Just used it for 3 weeks in Sweden and Denmark with no issues."

No report describes a failure in Denmark. Two travelers mention smaller things: reception that was marginal in some rural stretches of Denmark and France, "but that would happen to anyone's phone", and the wish for a phone number, since Maya is data only. A separate one-star review is about a rejected identity check in Denmark, not about coverage. Our own test found a clean one-click install (set the APN to "globaldata" and turn roaming on yourself), 5G at once, and a WhatsApp help desk that reaches a person after a form, though the agent could not see the eSIM status (our Maya Mobile review).

What sets Maya apart is the plan itself: global unlimited for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, with 5 GB a day at full speed and then slower, hotspot included, and a cruise variant for Baltic sailings. There is no Denmark-only plan and nothing shorter than three days. Among global unlimited plans it is by far the cheapest in our comparison, and it undercuts most providers' 30-day country unlimited plans too; for a two-day city break in Copenhagen it is poor value. Maya does not name its Danish network on its page, so for the west coast and the islands it is a bet, though the reports so far are good.

Ubigi is the travel eSIM brand of Paris operator Transatel, with one reusable eSIM for 200+ destinations. Data was fast in our test, and its 3 GB, 10 GB and 30-day unlimited plans are cheap. Its weak point is support: a chatbot that ends in an email ticket, with no live agent.

Ubigi eSIM in our hands

Ubigi testing preview Ubigi testing speed 1 Ubigi testing speed 2 Ubigi testing support

Ubigi is the pick for travelers who want the widest network access and big data, and who will not need help. It worked well for 10 of 10 travelers who reported from Denmark (100%), limited evidence, and it would sit second on that count alone; we placed it third because in our test its support did not answer a ticket within 24 hours. The successes cover Denmark and Sweden, a Nordic loop through Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, Warsaw and Copenhagen, and travelers who praise the speed. On 12 Jul 2026 one wrote: "Easy to install and signal very good used in Denmark and Sweden."

The same reviews show where Ubigi stumbles. One couple bought two identical eSIMs; one installed, the other failed at Copenhagen Airport after 30 minutes of trying, so they bought a third. Another had a hard time connecting on arrival in Copenhagen until a phone restart. A Europe plan that worked in Denmark and Sweden stopped when the traveler crossed into Norway and only came back days later after toggling roaming, and that traveler could not get through to Ubigi. Our test matched this: the app is a wrapped website, the help bot's checklist is good, but after that it is an email ticket with no reply in a day (our Ubigi review).

Ubigi's Denmark pages name Nuuday (now TDC Brands) and Telia on most plans, and the 30-day unlimited plan added 3 as a third network when we checked in September 2026, making it the one plan here with all three Danish radio networks [8]. The 30-day unlimited gives 60 GB at full speed before it slows, the 7-day version 20 GB, and data sharing is allowed [8]. In our comparison tool it sells Denmark plans of 3, 10, 25 and 50 GB, a Scandinavia and Baltic regional plan, Europe and world plans, with no 5 GB or 20 GB size. On price it sits just below the market average, and its 30-day unlimited is among the cheapest in our comparison. Two things in its favour on the road: it warns before the data runs out and lets you buy more at zero balance.

GigSky eSIM in our hands

GigSky testing outdoor GigSky testing speed 1 GigSky testing speed 2 GigSky testing support

GigSky is the pick for cruise and ferry trips and had the best record in Copenhagen, where it worked for all three travelers who reported from the city. Across Denmark it worked well for 8 of 9 travelers (89%), limited evidence. The successes are Scandinavia trips (Stockholm and Copenhagen, Norway, Denmark and Sweden), a two-week stay, a Baltic hop to Latvia and Moldova, and one report of a strong connection between cities as well as in them. On 9 Jun 2026 a traveler wrote: "Data connection was strong and worked well across Denmark and Sweden, including areas between cities."

The one miss was a cruise passenger with no service at sea and none in Aarhus until an hour after the ship left port. GigSky's reply said ship cellular switches off near land, and its cruise plans are a separate product, so a land plan on a cruise day is the wrong plan, not a dead network. A second cruise traveler had trouble only during embarkation in Copenhagen and said no other eSIM worked there either. Our own test found the app stays partly online when the data runs out, so you can buy a new plan without Wi-Fi, and a person answered our support chat at once (our GigSky review).

In our comparison tool GigSky sells Denmark plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, with long validities on the big ones (20 GB for 90 days, 50 GB for 180 days), a 1-day unlimited pass, plus Europe, cruise and ferry plans that include Denmark. GigSky does not name its Danish network on its page, and in August 2026 its own page stated the daily unlimited allowance two different ways, so we cannot say what it is. The drawback is price: GigSky is the most expensive provider in our comparison overall, though it is at market in the big European markets and cheap on 1 GB and 1-day passes. The app is needed to buy.

Holafly is an Irish eSIM provider built around unlimited data, with trip eSIMs for 200+ destinations. Travelers report it working more often than any other provider we track. Its weak points are speed and price: our test ran at about 30 Mbps on 5G, and its unlimited plans cost more than most.

Holafly eSIM in our hands

Holafly testing outdoor Holafly testing support Holafly testing support 2 Holafly testing speed

Holafly suits travelers who want to stop thinking about data and accept slower speeds for it. It worked well for 5 of 6 travelers who reported from Denmark (83%), limited evidence. In our test Holafly's speed was capped from the start, before any data was used: enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. The successes are Europe plans used across Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands over two weeks, and a first-time eSIM user who spent a weekend "gaming with 1,000s of other people in parks and all over Copenhagen" without a glitch (19 Jun 2026).

The one miss is worth reading: a Europe eSIM activated in Sweden worked on arrival in Denmark, then stopped after 12 hours, and the first help-desk agent wrongly said Denmark was not covered. Tech support later offered a one-day Denmark eSIM or a refund after the trip, which cost the traveler 90 minutes of chat on hotel Wi-Fi. Holafly's Denmark page names 3 and Telia as its networks (Telia now trades as Norlys), and warns that coverage may be weak on the Wadden Sea islands, at Møns Klint and on parts of the northern Jutland coast [6].

Holafly sells unlimited data only, priced by the day from 1 to 90 days, with the hotspot capped at 1 GB a day and no top-ups: when it ends you buy a new eSIM, and a deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled [6]. Our comparison tool had no Holafly plan for Denmark at export time, so there is no plan table here; Holafly's own page carries the current list. Installation is one tap with no QR code, which is why first-time users rate it well. On price it is among the most expensive unlimited offers in our comparison. Our hands-on findings, including the capped speed, are in our Holafly review.

eSIM4Travel is in the Best group for two things no other provider matches here: it is the cheapest for Denmark in our comparison at every size from 3 GB to 10 GB, and its Denmark plan names all four Danish brands, TDC, Telenor, Telia and 3 [11]. No traveler has reported from Denmark yet, so its record here is unknown; the count on its card is 0 of 0. What we can say comes from our hands-on test, run outside Denmark: the eSIM installed from a QR code and worked right away, and the help desk went from a short bot to a person in one click, who solved the problem and added a tip on switching network.

The downsides are built in. There is no app: you buy on the website, get the QR by email, and if your data runs out you cannot reach the store without Wi-Fi. There is no Google Pay, the card is typed by hand, and prices are in US dollars with no tax shown. It is data only, with no calls.

In our comparison tool eSIM4Travel sells Denmark plans of 1 GB (for 1 or 7 days) and 3 GB to 50 GB for 30 days, a Best Europe regional plan that includes Denmark, a global plan, and Europe unlimited plans at 3 GB a day before slowing. Hotspot and top-up are available, the plan starts on first connection, and you have 90 days to activate [11]. Its price edge fades at 50 GB. For a first eSIM it is fine as long as you install it at home on Wi-Fi; our eSIM4Travel review walks through the website checkout.

Other eSIM Providers for Denmark

We tested every provider below with our own money. They are here because their Denmark record is weaker (Airalo, Saily), because too few travelers have reported yet to judge (Roamless, Global YO, GoMoWorld, Jetpac, Yesim), or because nobody has reported at all (ByteSIM). Each one still sells a plan for Denmark.

Airalo eSIM in our hands

Airalo testing outdoor Airalo testing speed 1 Airalo testing speed 2 Airalo testing support

Airalo has the weakest Denmark record of the providers with 3 or more reports: it worked well for 6 of 10 travelers (60%), limited evidence, and it failed for all three who reported from Copenhagen. The misses are not setup trouble but signal: a Europe-and-UK plan that "barely works in Copenhagen" with no data for long stretches (24 Jun 2026), service lost for hours each day over several days in the city, patchy cover across Denmark, and a traveler who could not get it to work in Norway, Denmark or Sweden at all. The successes are shorter: it worked well on a Norway-and-Denmark trip and on Europe tours taking in Belgium, Germany and the UK.

The likely reason is in Airalo's own plan page: its Denmark eSIM, sold as Teledansk, runs on 3 alone [5], the network that measured last on coverage in the only independent test we found (see the networks section). In our comparison tool Airalo sells Teledansk plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, unlimited from 3 to 30 days at 3 GB a day before slowing, Europe regional plans and the global Discover plans, the Discover+ version with calls and texts. Its price is at the market average, never cheap. Airalo still has the easiest purchase and app in our test (our Airalo review), so travelers who stay in Copenhagen and want a familiar brand may still pick it, but the reports say others did better here. Airalo's Denmark plans are on its site.

One traveler on a global plan through eight European countries had zero issues in Denmark. The misses were inconsistency ("perfect in the centre of Copenhagen one day, then no service the next", 23 Aug 2026) and a three-week tour where data ran out far faster than expected. A fourth traveler had signal bars but no data on arrival until setting the APN by hand on airport Wi-Fi, then fast 5G around Copenhagen.

Saily does not name its Danish network on its page, which in September 2026 promised "Denmark's best networks" and no more. In our comparison tool it sells Denmark plans of 1 GB (7 days) and 3 to 20 GB (30 days), a 15-day unlimited at 5 GB a day before slowing, and Europe and global plans. Hotspot is unrestricted, and Saily now sells a minutes and text add-on for Denmark on a virtual number, not a Danish one [7]. Its activation window flipped between 30 and 180 days on its page within four weeks this autumn, so check it before buying. Saily is among the most expensive providers in the places people travel, and it is above market at every plan size. The in-app install with no QR code is the smoothest we tested (our Saily review), so a first-time user who stays in the cities may still choose Saily.

Roamless is a US provider built around one global eSIM for 203 destinations, paid with pay-as-you-go credit. It was fast and unthrottled in our test, and travelers report it working in 91% of cases. Its weak point is buying: the website forces you into the app, and large data amounts cost more than most rivals.

Roamless eSIM in our hands

Roamless testing preview Roamless testing speed 1 Roamless testing speed 2 Roamless testing support

Roamless looks good on paper for Denmark but only 2 travelers have reported from here so far, both positive, which is too few to judge. One used Google Maps and the web "quite speedily" in the Netherlands and Denmark on separate country plans (20 Apr 2026); the other had good reception across Denmark, Germany, Italy and China. Roamless names 3 and TDC as its Danish networks on its page, states no speed limit and unlimited hotspot [10], and across all countries it has the third-best record of the 14 providers we track.

In our comparison tool it sells pay-as-you-go credit that never expires, Denmark plans from 1 GB to 200 GB for 30 days, a free trial for new users, and Europe and global plans. There is no unlimited plan. Our test found the preset APN did not work until we picked "Proximus Internet", and the checkout stuck until a refresh; a person on the help desk fixed the APN in half an hour (our Roamless review). It is cheap for 1 GB and dear above 10 GB. A frequent light user who likes credit that carries over to the next trip may pick Roamless.

Global YO is the second-cheapest provider in our comparison but has one Denmark report, too few to judge: a month-long Nordic trip in August 2024 through Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Denmark on which the traveler always had a connection, even where companions on other brands lost theirs. Global YO does not name its Danish network on its page.

In our comparison tool it sells Denmark plans from 1 GB (3 days) to 100 GB (60 days), Europe Explorer and Global Explorer regional plans, and day plans with a daily allowance that slows afterwards; there is no true unlimited. Purchase is app-only, the eSIM is emailed, and the app dies at zero data, so install at home. Its help desk sent a template after 10 minutes and nothing useful after that (our Global YO review). Its price advantage grows with plan size, so a traveler who needs 10 GB or more and will not need help may pick Global YO.

GoMoWorld, eir's travel brand from Ireland, has one Denmark report, too few to judge: a traveler who used it from the UAE through Denmark to Canada in June 2026 and gave it full marks. It was the only provider with no sign of throttling at any volume in our test, and the fastest we measured, but its page does not name a Danish network.

Its model is four fixed euro prices with the data set per country: in our comparison tool the Denmark plans are 5 GB for 7 days and 15, 50 or 75 GB for 30 days, plus Europe plans that include Denmark. There is no unlimited and no calls. The catch is in the app: the eSIM is never emailed, one account serves one device, and you must press Start or nothing happens, the most common cause of "not working" we see; unstarted plans do not expire. Humans answer only in office hours (our GoMoWorld review). Price is below market overall and best from 5 GB up. Heavy users on a Europe trip may pick GoMoWorld.

Jetpac has one Denmark report, too few to judge, and it is about the help desk as much as the network: a traveler who landed in Copenhagen after a 22-hour trip, unsure how to activate, got a person on WhatsApp almost at once and had good coverage across Europe afterwards (Sep 2025). Jetpac's page calls its Denmark product multi-network without naming one; a third-party guide reports 3 and Telia, and the Europe plan in our comparison tool lists TDC, 3 and Telia for Denmark.

In our comparison tool Jetpac sells Denmark packs from 3 GB to 40 GB and Denmark unlimited from 1 to 30 days, 5G on the Denmark unlimited plans, plus Europe and global packs. Unlimited gives 3 GB a day before it slows, hotspot is unlimited, and on packs of 3 GB or more WhatsApp, Maps, Uber and Grab keep working after the data runs out [12]. Extras include in-app voice packs and free lounge access on delays. The site and app were the roughest we tested (our Jetpac review), and it is among the pricier providers for 3 to 20 GB. Frequent flyers who value the extras may pick Jetpac.

Yesim has 2 Denmark reports, 1 worked and 1 did not, too few to judge, and the review texts in our file do not say where in Denmark the miss happened. Its page does not name a Danish network and refers unlimited speed to the operator's fair-use rule without a figure. In our test its help desk took 15 to 60 minutes per reply with template answers, among the slowest we have seen (our Yesim review).

In our comparison tool Yesim sells Denmark unlimited for any number of days from 1 to 30, fixed Denmark plans from 500 MB to 30 GB, and Europe and global bundles that are better value than its country plans. Two things to watch: our plan started at purchase rather than at install, so buy close to the trip, and some plans auto-renew. Its fixed plans are among the most expensive in the places people travel, while its unlimited is at market. Experienced users who want unlimited for exactly the days they need may pick Yesim.

ByteSIM eSIM in our hands

ByteSIM testing preview ByteSIM testing speed 1 ByteSIM testing speed 2 ByteSIM testing support

ByteSIM has no traveler reports from Denmark yet. Its Denmark page is reported to name TDC, Telenor and 3, which would be a strong set, but we saw that only in a search snippet in August 2026, not on an opened page. In our test the checkout demanded a phone number and full postal address, the app install failed, and the WhatsApp help desk that promises a reply in five minutes gave none in fifteen (our ByteSIM review).

Its Denmark catalog in our comparison tool is the biggest of any provider: fixed plans from 500 MB to 300 GB, day plans of 1, 2 or 10 GB a day, and unlimited from 1 to 30 days, all at validities from 1 to 30 days, with no top-ups. The unlimited slows after an allowance it does not publish. Price is at market, cheaper for short 3 to 5 GB trips and dearer for long validities. Travelers who pay with a local wallet and are comfortable with manual installs may pick ByteSIM; we would not make it a first eSIM.

Best eSIM Plans for Denmark

Price per GB in Denmark by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in Denmark? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

Generated 28.10.2026 22:01

The tables below show the current cheapest plans at each size. Two Denmark-specific points before you pick a size: Ubigi sells no 5 GB or 20 GB Denmark plan, so its bar sits on 3 GB and 10 GB, and Maya Mobile appears only in the unlimited table because it sells nothing else. If your trip crosses into Germany, the two-country search for Denmark and Germany shows only the plans that cover both, and our Germany eSIM guide has the reports from that side of the border; for the Norway leg of a Scandinavia tour, our Norway guide covers the fjords. How much data you need helps you pick the size.

Best eSIM for Copenhagen, Aarhus and the Jutland Coast

Copenhagen is the only place in Denmark with enough reports to call: 16 of the 73 reports name the city, and they split sharply by provider. Aarhus, Frederikshavn, Sønderborg and Copenhagen Airport have one report each, so the country pick applies there.

Where you are goingWhat the reports showOur pick
CopenhagenNomad 2/2, Ubigi 2/2, Maya Mobile 2/2, GigSky 3/3, Holafly 2/2, Airalo 0/3, Saily 1/3, Jetpac 1/1GigSky (the only provider with 3 reports here, all good; Airalo failed for all 3 who reported)
Copenhagen Airporttoo few reportsCountry pick applies
Aarhustoo few reportsCountry pick applies
Frederikshavntoo few reportsCountry pick applies
Sønderborgtoo few reportsCountry pick applies

Best eSIM for Copenhagen

GigSky is our pick for Copenhagen because it is the only provider with three reports from the city and all three worked, including one traveler who found it strong between cities as well. Nomad, Ubigi, Maya Mobile and Holafly each worked for both travelers who reported from Copenhagen, so any of them is a reasonable choice; Holafly's speed is capped from the start in our test, and the Holafly report from the city was a weekend of mobile gaming in crowded parks with no glitches.

The clear loser in Copenhagen is Airalo: all three reports from the city describe no data or hours without service, on a single-network eSIM that rides 3, the network with the weakest coverage score in the Opensignal measurements we read. Saily's three Copenhagen reports split: one had fast 5G everywhere after fixing the APN on airport Wi-Fi, one had perfect service one day and none the next, and one had a tour-long run of problems. At the airport itself the only report is an Ubigi profile that failed to download on one of two identical phones, so install and test your eSIM before you fly.

No traveler has reported from the west coast of Jutland, the Wadden Sea islands or Bornholm yet. Holafly's own page says its coverage there may be weak [6], and the independent measurements we read put TDC NET well ahead on geographic reach, so for those areas a provider that lists TDC (Nomad, Ubigi, Roamless, eSIM4Travel) is the safer bet. You can check any address on the official coverage map before you go [1].

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in Denmark

A local SIM in Denmark means a Lebara or Lyca Mobile prepaid card, because, according to the prepaid SIM guides we read in August 2026, none of the four mobile brands (YouSee, Telenor, Norlys and 3) sells prepaid to visitors any more, and a Danish contract needs a CPR number (the national ID number) and a Danish address. Both resellers run on the shared Telenor and Norlys network, so no local prepaid card reaches TDC NET, the network with the widest reach, or 3. That is the main reason a travel eSIM can beat a local SIM outside the cities.

What a visitor can buy, as of September 2026, from the two third-party price lists we compared: a Lebara starter SIM for DKK 49 with DKK 10 of credit at kiosks, 7-Eleven and supermarkets, and Lyca starter packs around DKK 29. The two lists disagree on most bundles; the one point they agree on is 100 GB for about DKK 99 at either reseller, with EU roaming included and a Danish number. Bundles run 30 days and auto-renew while there is credit, Lebara SIMs go dormant 90 days after the last top-up, and Lyca freezes credit after three months. Prices include 25% VAT. Neither asks for ID or a CPR number, according to the same guides.

Lyca Mobile is reported to sell an eSIM; whether Lebara's Danish arm does is contested between two Danish sites, and we could not confirm it. At Copenhagen Airport a prepaid guide reported in August 2026 that WHSmith sells UK and French travel SIMs rather than Danish ones, and that Lyca cards are sometimes handed out free in arrivals; airport shops come and go, so do not count on it. For a few gigabytes over a week, a travel eSIM installed at home is simpler and costs about the same; for 20 GB or more, a Danish number, or a month-long stay, the local bundle is the better deal, as long as you stay on the Telenor and Norlys network and turn off auto-renew before you leave.

Mobile Networks in Denmark

Denmark has four mobile brands on three physical networks: TDC NET (the YouSee network, whose retail arm renamed itself TDC Brands in April 2026 [3]), TN-Network, shared by Telenor and Norlys (the former Telia Denmark), and 3. For a trip outside the cities the network that matters is TDC NET: in the Opensignal measurements published in February 2026 it won both coverage awards, overall reach and 5G reach, while 3 came clearly last on coverage. Norlys took the speed, consistency and time-on-5G awards, and 3 had the fastest 5G download. In short, according to Opensignal, TDC NET for the west coast, North Jutland and the islands, Norlys for city speed, and 3 only if you stay in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense or Aalborg.

Which provider rides which network, from the providers' own pages unless marked: eSIM4Travel names all four brands [11]; Ubigi names TDC (as Nuuday) and Telia on its plans and adds 3 on the 30-day unlimited [8]; Nomad names 3 and TDC [9]; Roamless names 3 and TDC [10]; Holafly names 3 and Telia [6]; Airalo names 3 only [5]. ByteSIM is reported to list TDC, Telenor and 3, and Jetpac is reported by a third-party guide to use 3 and Telia. Saily, GigSky, Maya Mobile, Yesim, Global YO and GoMoWorld did not name a network on their pages when we checked. Two cautions: no provider has a direct deal with a Danish operator, so these lists get swapped without notice (Nomad swapped Telia for TDC between crawls this year), and several pages still use retired names like Telia and Nuuday. You can check your own itinerary against every operator on the official coverage map, which shows outdoor coverage only [1]; YouSee publishes its own map for TDC NET [4].

3G is mostly gone: TN-Network and TDC NET closed theirs by 2023, according to Danish press reports, and we could not confirm the status of 3's 3G network. 2G stays on at TDC NET and TN-Network, according to the same reports, while 3 has never had 2G; trade press reported in 2019 that 3's own customers fall back onto TDC NET, but whether a travel eSIM on 3 inherits that fallback we could not confirm, which is the open question for anyone taking a 3-only eSIM to rural Denmark. 5G runs on all four brands. The Agency for Digital Government regulates the market and has designated TDC NET and TDC Brands as universal service providers to the end of 2029 [2]. If you want an eSIM that can switch between operators, eSIMs with several networks explains how to force the choice.

How to Set Up an eSIM for Denmark

Install at home on Wi-Fi, before you fly. The Copenhagen Airport reports in our file are an Ubigi profile that would not download and a Saily eSIM with signal bars but no data until the APN was set by hand, both fixed only with airport Wi-Fi. Almost every provider here starts the plan on first connection in Denmark, not at install; the exceptions are Yesim, whose plan started at purchase in our test, GoMoWorld, where you must press Start in the app, and some Airalo packages.

  1. Check your phone can take an eSIM and is unlocked; mainland-China iPhones and some Samsung A-series variants do not. Our guide to your first eSIM covers the check.
  2. Buy the plan and check its activation window: eSIM4Travel gives 90 days [11], Ubigi's unscanned QR code is valid 6 months, Jetpac keeps unactivated packs 3 months, Nomad's page gave 60 days in September 2026 while our comparison tool lists 30, and Saily's page flipped between 30 and 180 days this autumn, so read the plan page.
  3. Install on Wi-Fi: by scanning the emailed QR code (Airalo, eSIM4Travel, Maya Mobile, Ubigi, Yesim, ByteSIM, Jetpac, Nomad, Holafly) or inside the app (Saily, GoMoWorld, Roamless, GigSky, Global YO). The steps for iPhone and Samsung differ slightly.
  4. Set the APN if the provider asks: "globaldata" for Maya Mobile and Global YO, "gigsky" for GigSky, "mobiledata" for Ubigi; Roamless worked for us only after switching to "Proximus Internet".
  5. On landing, turn on data roaming for the eSIM line and set it as the data line. If you see bars but no data, toggle roaming off and on or restart the phone, which fixed two of the Denmark reports above; our troubleshooting guide has the rest.
  6. Keep the Holafly eSIM: it cannot be reinstalled once deleted [6], and the same is true of Global YO.

Calls and SMS in Denmark

Denmark's calling code is +45. Every Denmark plan in our comparison tool is data only; calls go over WhatsApp, FaceTime or a similar app, which is what the Maya Mobile traveler who wished for a number ended up doing. The options with some form of voice: Saily sells a minutes and text add-on for Denmark on its own virtual number, not a Danish one [7]; Airalo's global Discover+ plans include calls and texts on a US number; Jetpac sells in-app voice packs [12]; Roamless and Global YO offer in-app calling, and Roamless an optional second number from the US, Canada, UK or Australia. None of these gives you a Danish number.

If you need a Danish number, for a rental, a bank or a restaurant booking, the only route is a Lebara or Lyca Mobile prepaid card, which comes with a number and minutes (see the local SIM section). Lyca is reported to offer it as an eSIM, so a dual-SIM phone can carry a travel eSIM for data and the local number at once.

Free eSIM Data for Denmark

Three providers here give new users free data that works in Denmark. Roamless lists a free 500 MB Denmark trial for new users on its page, as of September 2026 [10], and it is in our comparison tool as a free Denmark plan. Nomad's page offers a free 1 GB trial to new users [9], listed in our tool as a 1 GB, 3-day Denmark trial plan. GoMoWorld gives a free one-day trial in its app, which also tests the Start button you must press on a paid plan. Each is enough to confirm the eSIM connects before you pay; our free eSIM list tracks the trials across providers.

Frequently Asked Questions About eSIMs in Denmark

Which eSIM works best in Denmark?
Nomad had the best record in traveler reports from Denmark: it worked well for all 18 travelers who reported, mostly on trips through Denmark, Sweden and Norway, with the only hiccups at borders and in first-day setup. Ubigi (10 of 10) and Maya Mobile (9 of 9) also had clean records. Holafly worked for 5 of 6, but its speed was capped from the start in our test. Compare current prices with (eSIM Comparison).
Is Airalo good in Denmark?
Not on the reports we read: Airalo worked well for 6 of 10 travelers from Denmark and failed for all 3 who reported from Copenhagen, who describe no data or hours without service. Its Denmark eSIM runs on a single network, 3, which measured last on coverage in the independent test we found. Travelers who combined Denmark with Germany or the UK did better. Our full test is in (Airalo Review 2026: Is It Worth It? Our eSIM Test).
What is the cheapest eSIM for Denmark?
eSIM4Travel is the cheapest for Denmark in our comparison at every size from 3 GB to 10 GB, and Global YO and Ubigi are the next cheapest; Saily and GigSky are the most expensive in the places people travel. Prices move, so check the live tables with (eSIM Comparison). For big volumes a local Lebara or Lyca prepaid bundle is cheaper per gigabyte than any travel eSIM.
How much data do I need for Denmark?
Most travelers use 3 to 5 GB in a week of maps, messaging and social media; streaming and video calls push that to 10 GB, and one Nomad user on unlimited data reported about 10 GB in 10 days. Denmark has free Wi-Fi in most hotels and cafés, so a 5 GB plan covers a week for most people. For a figure based on your own habits, use (Travel Data Calculator).
Which eSIM is best for Copenhagen?
GigSky had the best record in Copenhagen, working for all 3 travelers who reported from the city, with Nomad, Ubigi, Maya Mobile and Holafly each 2 of 2 (Holafly's speed is capped in our test). Airalo failed for all 3 Copenhagen reports and Saily for 2 of 3. Two travelers had trouble at Copenhagen Airport, with a failed profile download and a missing APN, so install at home and test before you fly.
Can I buy a Denmark SIM card for tourists at the airport?
No Danish operator sells a tourist SIM, at the airport or elsewhere, according to the prepaid guides we read in August 2026. The only prepaid cards for visitors are Lebara and Lyca Mobile, sold in kiosks and supermarkets with no ID check (the local SIM section has the prices); Copenhagen Airport's newsagent was reported to stock UK and French travel SIMs instead. A travel eSIM installed at home avoids the search.
Does a Denmark eSIM work in Sweden, Norway, the Faroe Islands or Greenland?
A Denmark-only plan stops at the border; for Sweden or Norway you need a Europe or Scandinavia plan, which is what most travelers in our reports used, and Nomad, Ubigi and GigSky all have good reports on Denmark-and-Sweden trips. The Faroe Islands and Greenland are separate telecom markets: Nomad says its coverage may not include overseas territories, and no Denmark plan we found includes them, so check the country list of any plan before you buy.

Summary: the best eSIM for Denmark

Based on 73 traveler reports and our own tests, Nomad is the best option for most trips to Denmark: it worked well for all 18 travelers who reported, mostly on tours through Scandinavia, and its one weakness is a help desk that was hard to reach in our test. Maya Mobile (9 of 9) is the pick for a week or more across several countries on its global unlimited plan, with no small plans and no Danish network named. Ubigi (10 of 10) lists all three Danish networks on its 30-day unlimited plan and sells the biggest fixed plans, but we could not reach its support. GigSky (8 of 9) had the best Copenhagen record and the right plans for cruises and ferries, at the highest price position in our comparison.

Holafly (5 of 6) is the easy unlimited choice, with a speed cap from the start in our test and no top-ups. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest for Denmark in our comparison and names all four Danish brands, but has no app and no reports from Denmark yet. Airalo (6 of 10) is the one big brand we would not recommend here, after three Copenhagen failures on its single-network plan. In every case, installing at home avoids the airport trouble in the reports, and outside the cities a provider that lists TDC is the safer bet. That is our answer to the best eSIM for Denmark as of October 2026.
