Traveling is a great thing, until you find yourself in the middle of a city without connection. You're looking for Wi-Fi, wondering how much roaming will cost you, or figuring out where to get a local SIM card. That's why I decided to introduce you to one option - Yesim App, which promises quick and easy connection via virtual eSIM. To be honest, my experience wasn't without issues. But let's first talk about how it all works.
How the activation process works from the beginning
When purchasing, you have two options. Either through the website or app. I chose the web route, but the process is similar when buying through the app. The only difference is creating an account, which in the app comes first, while on the web the first step is selecting a package, etc.
1. Choose a country or region
Select the country you're heading to, or the region where you'll need data.
2. Select a data package
Choose a package that suits you best – it depends on how long you plan to stay in the country and how much data you'll need.
3. Create an account
Next, you need to register. Just enter your details – email and password. Once you have an account, log in and continue.
4. Payment
After selecting a package, proceed to payment. Yesim accepts various payment methods (credit cards, PayPal, etc.).
5. eSIM Activation
Once you've paid, you'll receive an email with confirmation and instructions on how to activate your eSIM. Activation takes place directly in the app, where you download and install the eSIM to your phone. The process is simple – just click the "Activate" button and follow the on-screen instructions.
What did I like?
- Flexibility – you can choose a package based on your needs, for a few days or a longer period.
- Digital solution without plastic – no additional SIM cards that you might lose or forget.
- Wide availability – works in more than 130 countries, covering most popular destinations.
- Useful notifications – the app sends you reminders about how much data you have left, which is ideal when you want to keep track.
- You can also set it up for a later date, which is great if you want to prepare everything before departure. For me, this option is key because I like having things under control.
But now to my experiences
First, what surprised me was that everything happens only through the app. This might be fine for some people, but I missed the ability to manage things via the web or have more support when something doesn't go according to plan.
Another thing – after purchasing a package, it took quite a while before I received the confirmation email with activation details. When you need internet right away, such a delay is really frustrating.
In conclusion
If you're looking for a convenient and quick solution for internet while traveling, Yesim is a good choice. Despite the minor delay with the email, everything else went smoothly and comfortably.
