Holafly is the pick for anyone who wants to stop thinking about data in the UAE, because it has the best record of any provider here. It worked well for 19 of 20 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (95%), strong evidence. The successes are mostly multi-country trips that passed through Dubai: travelers who used the same eSIM in Europe, Asia or Australia and the UAE, one who streamed on a laptop over the hotspot, and one whose hiccup in Dubai was fixed over WhatsApp the same day. "Worked perfect during my trip to Dubai, easy to activate and 100% reliable," wrote one traveler in June 2026.

The one miss, from June 2026, was a traveler whose two eSIMs (one for Dubai, one for the Philippines) never connected, and who got nowhere with the AI help bot. That matches our own test, where the bot came first and a human second. There is no sign of a regional failure in the reports.

Holafly sells only unlimited plans for the UAE, 3 to 15 days in our comparison tool, on du [8]. Holafly's page says the hotspot is limited to 1 GB a day, the operator may throttle for at most one day under fair use, the eSIM cannot be reinstalled once deleted, and this UAE eSIM does not work in Bahrain [8]. The page also warns that coverage may be weaker in deserts and mountains, as of August 2026 [8]. Two drawbacks: in our hands-on test speeds looked capped from the start, and it is the most expensive of the unlimited providers in our comparison; we found no sign of throttling in the reports from the UAE, so the cap mostly matters for heavy users (see our Holafly review). It suits travelers who want one plan for a Gulf trip with no top-ups to think about, not people who need a laptop hotspot all day. Holafly's UAE page sells the plan without an app.

Yesim is the pick for travelers who want unlimited data for an exact number of days, from one day to thirty, and who set it up before they fly. It worked well for 22 of 26 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (85%), strong evidence, and it has the second-largest number of reports of any provider here. In Dubai it worked for 10 of 13.

The four misses are counted in our analysis, but the individual Yesim review texts for the UAE were not in our export, so we cannot say where they happened or whether they were signal, activation or app problems. What we can say is that Yesim itself warns that access to its app and website may be limited inside the UAE because of local regulations, as of August 2026, so a problem that needs the app is harder to fix once you have landed.

The plan line-up is unusual: in our comparison tool Yesim sells UAE unlimited plans for every length from 1 to 30 days, fixed plans from 100 MB for a day and 1 GB to 30 GB for 30 days, plus Middle East and Global bundles and an unlimited day pass. Its page did not name a network when we checked in August 2026; third-party guides report du. Two findings from our hands-on test count against it: support was among the slowest we tested, with 15 to 60 minutes per reply, and our plan started counting at purchase rather than at first use, so buy close to the trip (details in our Yesim review). On price it sits around the market average for the UAE, with the unlimited plans at market and the fixed plans dearer. It suits experienced users who want flexible unlimited data; it does not suit anyone who may need the help desk. Yesim's UAE page delivers the eSIM by email as well as in the app.

Global YO is the pick for a Dubai trip on a budget, or for anyone who needs 10 GB or more. It worked well for 16 of 21 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (76%), strong evidence, and in Dubai itself for 14 of 15, the best city record on this page. The successes describe business trips with video calls and email, streaming during a layover, and one family trip across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain with heavy map use. Several reviewers from 2025 and 2026 describe 5G. "Works perfectly in Dubai! Fast 5G," wrote one in April 2026.

The five misses are spread over time and are not all the same problem: slow speeds with constant drops in August 2024, two eSIMs that would not install or connect in February 2024 with no reply from support, no connection in Dubai in March 2026, an eSIM that did not work at all in June 2026, and one in July 2026 that worked in Dubai but not in Abu Dhabi. That last reviewer also found that the app does not open over Wi-Fi, so with no signal there was no way to reach support from the hotel; email worked. One area report records a failure at Dubai International Airport.

What sets Global YO apart is price: it is the second cheapest provider in our comparison and among the cheapest in the UAE, especially from 10 GB up. In our tool it sells UAE plans from 1 GB for 3 days to 100 GB for 60 days, Day Plans with a daily allowance of 1 GB, and Middle East and Global bundles; no true unlimited. Its own page names Etisalat, lists the speed as 4G/LTE only, needs the APN set by hand to globaldata, and says no ID is needed, as of 26 Sep 2026 [10]. That 4G listing sits oddly next to the reviewers who describe 5G, so treat 5G as unconfirmed. Purchase is app-only, the eSIM is then emailed, and support in our test replied with a template after 10 minutes (our Global YO review has the detail). It suits price-driven travelers who install at home and will not need help. Global YO's UAE page lists the plans.

Airalo is the pick for a first eSIM: the app and installation were among the easiest in our test, and it runs on Etisalat, the network that wins the independent coverage measurements. It worked well for 15 of 21 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (71%), strong evidence, but a weaker record than the three providers above. The successes are long-time users who took the same eSIM through Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and one unlimited user in August 2026 who found the slowed speed after the daily allowance still usable.

The six misses cluster in July and August 2026: a connection that kept dropping, two phones on one order that never connected, "connection not available" in Dubai, a top-up that could not be matched to the right eSIM, and a long-time user whose new global eSIM refused to work anywhere along the Dubai coastline after Airalo switched its supplier. Several reviewers from that period mention a UAE "blackout" and that purchases may fail while you are inside the UAE; one advised installing after leaving the country. "I have travelled up and down the entire coastline and cannot receive signal," wrote one in August 2026. By mid-August reviewers were again reporting it working.

Airalo's UAE plans run under its Burj Mobile brand on Etisalat: 1 GB to 20 GB for 3 to 30 days, and unlimited for 3 to 30 days at 3 GB a day at full speed, then slowed, with validity starting on first connection [7]. Airalo's own plan page said no ID check (eKYC, usually a passport photo) was needed when we checked in August 2026, while some third-party guides report one, so expect either [7]. Regional Menalink and Discover plans also cover the UAE, and the Discover+ global plans include a US number for calls and texts. On price it is at the market average here and never the cheapest. The main drawback is the record above; the app, the QR delivery by email and the help desk, which reached a human after a queue in our test, are the reasons to pick it (our Airalo review). Airalo's UAE page sells without the app.

Roamless is the pick for stopovers in Dubai and for people who pass through the UAE several times a year, because its pay-as-you-go credit never expires and it has a clean record here. It worked well for 10 of 10 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (100%), limited evidence. The successes are exactly that crowd: an expat working in the UAE, a convention visitor, travelers connecting at Dubai between Asia and Europe, and one who had tried other eSIMs first. "The service was awesome as I had tried a couple of others and wasn't satisfied," wrote one in October 2025.

There are no misses to describe. The one complaint, from September 2025, was price: the reviewer found it very expensive in the UAE, and Roamless replied that better UAE rates were coming. In our price analysis Roamless sits at the market average for the UAE, cheap for 1 GB and dear from 10 GB up, because its credit has no volume discount.

Roamless is one global eSIM on du in the UAE, with a free 400 MB starter for new users, 30-day fixed plans from 1 GB to 100 GB and the no-expiry credit, all without a stated speed limit and with the hotspot allowed. Its page says UAE regulations mean you must install before traveling, and that some app features are not available inside the UAE while an active eSIM keeps working, as of August 2026. In-app calls work, which one reviewer used in Europe. In our hands-on test the preset APN did not work until we picked the Proximus profile and switched Wi-Fi off, and purchase is app-only (our Roamless review). It suits light users and frequent travelers; it does not suit a two-week heavy-data holiday. Roamless's UAE page has the plan list.

eSIM4Travel is the pick for the lowest price with a human on the help desk, and the only Best-group provider we cannot back with traveler reports: there are no traveler reports from the United Arab Emirates yet. Its place here rests on our hands-on test and on price. It is the cheapest provider in our comparison for the UAE, though its lead is narrower here than in most countries, with Global YO close behind.

In our test, bought outside the UAE, the eSIM came by email, installed from a screenshot of the QR code and worked right away. Support was the best we tested: a short bot, one click to a human, and a fix that included a tip to switch network. It has the highest Vefru test score of the providers compared here (our eSIM4Travel review explains the scoring).

Its UAE plans in our comparison tool are 1 GB for a day or a week and 3, 5 and 10 GB for 30 days, named with du; its own site names both Etisalat and du for the UAE, as of August 2026, with the network chosen per plan. Regional Middle East bundles add micro-plans from 100 MB and unlimited for 3 to 15 days with throttling. The downsides stay: there is no app, no Google Pay, the card is typed by hand, and once the data runs out there is no way to top up without Wi-Fi. It suits anyone who wants cheap data and a real person to talk to; it does not suit anyone who wants an app. eSIM4Travel's UAE page sells on the website.

Maya Mobile is the choice for a trip that combines the UAE with other countries or a cruise, and it only misses the Best group because its 19 reports fall just short of the strong tier. It worked well for 18 of 19 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (95%), limited evidence, and 14 of 15 in Dubai. The successes are multi-country trips (Turkey, Egypt, the Greek islands and Dubai on one eSIM), a cruise passenger who stayed online in port, 5G in Dubai, and travelers whose date mistakes were fixed by the help desk. The one miss, in November 2024, was a Middle East package that stopped after two days with the Maya website unreachable from Dubai; another reviewer needed to set the APN by hand first. "Worked in Turkey, Egypt, Greek islands, Dubai and back in Australia!" wrote one in November 2025.

Maya sells only global unlimited plans: 3, 7, 14 and 30 days with 5 GB a day at full speed, then slowed, plus a cruise variant, and no UAE-only plan. It was the fairest unlimited plan in our test and the cheapest global unlimited in our comparison, but it sells nothing small, so a two-day visit pays for more than it uses. Its network in the UAE is unknown; its page does not name one. The help desk in our test reached a human after a five-step form (our Maya Mobile review). Maya Mobile's site sells the global plan.

ByteSIM worked for most travelers who reported, but two activation failures and our own support test keep it out of the Best group. It worked well for 8 of 10 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (80%), limited evidence. The two misses were both activation: an eSIM that never activated over two days in November 2025 (refunded), and one in December 2024 that never sent the activation email. The successes often involve the WhatsApp help desk fixing a setup problem fast, including a traveler who bought during an 18-hour Dubai layover and one in transit at Abu Dhabi. "I have used ByteSim in the past in Japan and UAE without any issues," wrote one in October 2025.

Our comparison tool listed no ByteSIM plan for the UAE at export time, so there is no plan table here; ByteSIM's own UAE page lists data and data-plus-calls plans on du, with Etisalat as backup on the calling plans, as of August 2026 [11]. The same page claims WhatsApp, FaceTime and Telegram calls work without restriction, which contradicts what is widely reported about UAE networks, so treat it as marketing. In our test the WhatsApp help desk did not reply within 15 minutes and checkout asked for a full postal address (our ByteSIM review). It suits experienced users who want local payment methods. It worked well for 7 of 9 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (78%), limited evidence. The two misses were an eSIM that never worked on arrival in December 2024 (the traveler bought a Virgin Mobile SIM at the airport instead, and was refunded) and one that suddenly stopped in Dubai in July 2026 with no help from support. The successes include a 10 GB pack with the hotspot on, a traveler stuck in Dubai in March 2026 who got a discounted day pack from the help desk, and clear in-app calls to the UK. "Top connection all the time, fast, available to Hotspot," wrote one in October 2025.

Its UAE plans in our tool run from 1 GB to 20 GB for 1 to 30 days, and every UAE plan above 1 GB is flagged 4G only; the MENA and Global bundles are 5G, and MENA unlimited runs 1 to 30 days at 3 GB a day, then slowed. The network is reported by third parties as Etisalat by two and du by one, so we cannot say which. In our test the site was slow and the app rough, which is why it is not a top pick (our Jetpac review). Price here is at the market average. Jetpac's site sells the packs.

GoMoWorld is not a top pick for the UAE because it is the most expensive provider in our comparison for this country and two of its few reports failed. It worked well for 5 of 7 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (71%), limited evidence. The two misses, in September and November 2025, were travelers who could not get online in Dubai; in one case GoMoWorld replied that the plan had used its full 1 GB, which fits our test finding that an unstarted plan does nothing until you press Start. The successes include a family in Abu Dhabi, a Dubai eSIM that worked well but felt pricey, and a traveler who switched from a local SIM to GoMoWorld in Dubai because WhatsApp calls did not work on the local SIM. "We used this eSIM in Abu Dhabi and in Doha last year and had no issues," wrote one in June 2026.

GoMoWorld sells four fixed prices with the data set per country; in the UAE that buys 800 MB for 7 days and 4, 8 or 13 GB for 30 days in our tool, which is why its price index here is the highest on this page. Its page names no network. Installation is app-only with no QR code, one account per device, and you must press Start or nothing happens, which is the most common cause of "it does not work" (our GoMoWorld review). It suits a reader who already has the app and wants 5G without a throttle. GoMoWorld's site links to the app.

Nomad is not a top pick for the UAE because almost a third of its reports failed and its help desk had no route to a human in our test. It worked well for 9 of 13 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (69%), limited evidence. The misses: no network in Saudi Arabia or Dubai in July 2026, a global eSIM that never worked at an Abu Dhabi stopover in May 2026, a Dubai eSIM that did not work on arrival despite being installed beforehand in April 2026, and one that worked only after settings trouble with weaker reception than the same traveler's Europe plan. One reviewer in August 2026 could not buy a Dubai plan at all. The successes are good: 5G in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, live streaming during a layover, and two travelers who found it slow at the airport but fine in the city. "Good coverage in Dubai. A little slow at the airport but perfect once I got into the city," wrote one in May 2026.

Nomad's UAE plans in our tool run from 1 GB for 7 days to 20 GB for 30 days, listed as du and marked 4G, plus unlimited for 3 to 10 days at 2 GB a day, then slowed; GCC, MENA and Global bundles also cover the UAE. Nomad's page does not name a network; third-party guides mostly report du. It is among the three cheapest providers here. The finding that places it here is support: the bot looped and timed out with no human available (our Nomad review). It suits experienced users who will not need help. GigSky is not a top pick for the UAE: three of seven reports failed outright, and it is among the most expensive providers here. It worked well for 4 of 7 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (57%), limited evidence. The misses are specific: a 25 GB plan that worked in Doha and India but not at all in Dubai in November 2025, with the GigSky app and website unreachable from there; a free Visa-benefit plan that never worked in Dubai or Abu Dhabi in December 2024; and one that could not be used in November 2025 before the Visa benefit expired. Of the successes, one traveler in June 2026 said the connection held from landing onward but felt throttled all week with no 5G. "The data connection worked on landing in the UAE and stayed up nonstop," that reviewer wrote in July 2026.

GigSky says it switches automatically between du and Etisalat in the UAE, and that its unlimited plans slow after 2.5 GB a day and are never cut off, as of August 2026. In our tool it sells UAE plans of 1, 3, 5 and 10 GB, a 1-day unlimited pass, and Middle East and Cruise plus Middle East bundles, the last covering shore excursions for Gulf cruises. Its app stays partly online at zero data, so you can buy more without Wi-Fi, which only Ubigi matched in our test (our GigSky review). It suits cruise passengers and one-day visitors. Ubigi is not a top pick for the UAE: two of its three reports failed, and its own page says the app and website cannot be reached from inside the country. It worked well for 1 of 3 travelers who reported from the United Arab Emirates (33%), limited evidence. The misses were frequent interruptions and poor coverage in August 2026 with the app rejecting every login code abroad and no answer by email, and a phone in April 2026 that showed 5G but could not load anything, again with no reply. The one success came with a twist: two travelers on the same package in Dubai in July 2026 got opposite results, one great, one poor. "In the United Arab Emirates, the connection quality was disappointing, with frequent interruptions," wrote one in August 2026.

Ubigi's UAE plans run on du: 1 GB for 7 days, 3 GB for 15, 10 GB for 7 or 30, 25 GB for 30 and unlimited for 1 or 7 days in our tool, plus Middle East and World bundles. Its plan page says the app and website are inaccessible from within the UAE, the plan cannot be used by UAE residents in the UAE, it activates automatically on arrival and expires if unused for 6 months [9]. It is among the two most expensive providers in the UAE in our price analysis. The finding that places it here is support: our ticket went unanswered after 24 hours, the worst outcome we tested (our Ubigi review). Its one real plus is buying more data at zero balance. Saily has the most polished app and the best help desk in our test, but only 2 travelers have reported from the United Arab Emirates, both positive, which is too few to judge. Both were multi-country users who took it through Dubai with no trouble; one said the AI help brought in a human when needed. "Have used Saily in 5+ countries, from Norway to Dubai to Uzbekistan, it works great," wrote one in August 2026.

Saily sells UAE plans of 1 GB for 7 days and 3 to 20 GB for 30 days in our tool, plus MENA and Global bundles, and no unlimited plan for the UAE in our tool. Its page does not name a network; third-party guides report du. Two UAE-specific facts from its own page, as of August 2026: Saily eSIMs cannot be purchased from inside the UAE, and the page lists a Saily phone number with minutes for the UAE, while a third-party review says that number is US-based, which we could not settle. It is at the market average on price here, unusual for Saily, which is among the dearest in most popular destinations. It suits first-timers who value the app and 24/7 chat (our Saily review). Best eSIM Plans for the United Arab Emirates

Price per GB in the United Arab Emirates by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in the United Arab Emirates? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week trip. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

Two things about the UAE market before the tables. The gap between the cheapest and the market average is smaller here than in most popular destinations: eSIM4Travel and Global YO still lead, but by less, while GoMoWorld and Ubigi are the two most expensive providers in the UAE. And because hotel and mall Wi-Fi is fast and fibre reaches almost every building, a 5 GB plan covers a week of maps, messaging and social media for most travelers; our guide to how much data you need has the numbers. Best eSIM for Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Desert

Dubai dominates the reports: 97 of the 168 name the city, and Abu Dhabi has 10. Al Ain and Dubai International Airport have one each, so they get no pick of their own.

Best eSIM for Dubai

Global YO is our Dubai pick: it worked for 14 of the 15 travelers who reported from the city, the most reports any provider has there, and it is among the cheapest in the UAE. Maya Mobile matched that record (14 of 15) and is the better choice if Dubai is one stop on a longer trip, and Holafly (9 of 10) is the safe choice for an unlimited plan without any setup. Roamless worked for all four of its Dubai reporters, three of them on layovers.

The runners-up lost on specific problems. Airalo's three Dubai misses all fall in July and August 2026, when several reviewers describe a UAE blackout and purchases failing from inside the country. GigSky failed for two of three, one of them with a 25 GB plan that never connected and an app that could not be opened from Dubai. GoMoWorld lost two of five to plans that were never started or never connected. Nomad lost two of nine, one on arrival despite installing at home, and Yesim three of 13 for reasons the review texts do not give. At the airport itself the picture is mixed: two Nomad reporters found it slow at Dubai International and fine in the city, one Global YO report records a failure at the airport, one Jetpac traveler whose eSIM never connected bought a Virgin Mobile SIM before leaving the terminal, and one ByteSIM user bought and activated an eSIM during an 18-hour layover with help over WhatsApp.

Best eSIM for Abu Dhabi

The country pick, Holafly, applies in Abu Dhabi, because no provider has three reports from the capital; Holafly itself has none from Abu Dhabi yet. The ten reports split across eight providers. Two misses stand out: a Global YO eSIM that worked in Dubai but was unusable in Abu Dhabi in July 2026, leaving the traveler with no way to reach support because the app does not open over Wi-Fi, and a Nomad global eSIM that never worked on an Abu Dhabi stopover in May 2026. A GigSky free plan also failed in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi in December 2024.

The successes are ordinary: a GoMoWorld family in Abu Dhabi with no issues, a Roamless user on the variable credit, Nomad with 5G in both cities, and a Global YO family that used maps heavily across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in March 2024. One ByteSIM traveler in transit at Abu Dhabi for eight hours got connected only after the WhatsApp help desk sent a corrected activation link, so for a short transit the setup should be done before boarding.

No traveler reports cover the desert camps south of Liwa, the Hajar Mountains behind Fujairah or the Jebel Jais road; the regulator's coverage map is the place to check the exact spot, with a toggle for each operator [1]. Holafly's own page warns that coverage may be weaker or unstable in deserts and mountains [8], and Opensignal's reports give e& the wider 5G reach outside the cities, which favours the Etisalat-based providers (Airalo, Global YO, eSIM4Travel) for an overnight in the dunes.

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in the United Arab Emirates

A local SIM beats a travel eSIM in the UAE only if you need a UAE phone number, for deliveries, bookings or one-time codes, or more than roughly 10 GB in a week; for everything else a travel eSIM installed at home is cheaper and skips the counter. All three local brands, e&, du and Virgin Mobile, sell tourist SIMs and eSIMs, and all need a valid passport in person; some counters also ask for the visa.

e&'s Visitor Line is sold only to visitors aged 18 and over, at most 2 SIMs per passport, and all prices include 5% VAT with no refunds; out-of-bundle data is blocked by default, and local calls cost AED 0.63 a minute outside the bundle [4]. Packs run 24 hours, 48 hours, 7, 14 or 28 days, the line lasts as long as the visa up to 90 days, and moving to a resident plan needs an Emirates ID [5]. e&'s page did not show the Visitor Line prices to us, and the third-party tables we found contradict each other, so we do not quote them. The Premium and Unlimited packs bundle unlimited data for the GoChat calling app, e&'s own answer to the VoIP block [4].

du's Tourist SIM runs 24 hours to 28 days with "flexi" minutes usable locally or abroad; du's own page did not render for us, so every price is from travel sites. Three of them, between August 2025 and August 2026, agree on the unlimited tiers: AED 199 for 7 days with 100 minutes, AED 299 for 14 days with 200 minutes and AED 499 for 28 days with 400 minutes. They disagree on whether the AED 49 entry pack buys 2 GB or 4 GB, so check at the counter. Virgin Mobile, on du's network, sells a Dubai tourist eSIM of 21 GB for 7 days from AED 150 on its own site as of August 2026, set up by passport scan and selfie, and it takes cash in AED at its airport store; it is the only tourist bundle here that includes a local number, calls and SMS.

A free tourist SIM is handed out at Dubai International to visa-on-arrival, visit-visa and transit visitors, now also via QR codes on airport signs, and it is not offered at Abu Dhabi, all as reported by travel sites. The data allowance is disputed between 1 GB and 10 GB for 24 hours, so treat it as a day of maps, not a trip plan. All three brands keep counters in DXB Terminals 1, 2 and 3, airport prices are reported to match the malls, and peak waits are reported at 5 to 20 minutes, so there is no reason to avoid the airport counter, only the queue.

Mobile Networks in the United Arab Emirates

The UAE has exactly two mobile operators, e& (Etisalat) and du; the regulator TDRA renewed both licences on 12 Aug 2026 for 20 years, with national roaming among the renewed obligations [2]. e& is the stronger network for a traveler who leaves the cities: in Opensignal's January 2025 report it won the coverage award by a clear margin, and in the March 2026 report it led on 5G reach, download speed and video, while du won only on time connected to the network. du's one measured edge, availability, is a fraction of a point.

Coverage of populated areas is near-total: TDRA's 2023 Digital Enablers report put mobile coverage at 100% of regions and 5G at 97% of populated areas [3]. The gaps are the Empty Quarter dunes south of Liwa, the Hajar Mountains and the Al Ain approaches to the Oman border, where du's narrower 5G footprint matters more than its speed. TDRA hosts a coverage map with Etisalat, du and both as toggles and 2G to 5G layers [1], and du publishes its own coverage checker [6]. 2G is off, with the shutdown dated end-2022 by one source and end-2023 by another; 3G on 2100 MHz is still listed by third parties, and both operators run 5G standalone and 5G-Advanced in the cities.

Which provider rides which network, as the providers themselves say: Airalo (Burj Mobile brand) on Etisalat [7]; Global YO on Etisalat, 4G only [10]; eSIM4Travel on Etisalat and du; GigSky on both with automatic switching; Holafly on du [8]; Ubigi on du [9]; Roamless on du; ByteSIM on du with Etisalat as backup on calling plans [11]. Saily, Yesim and Nomad name no network on their pages, and third-party guides report du for all three; Jetpac is reported as Etisalat by two guides and du by one; Maya Mobile and GoMoWorld are unknown. For a city trip the choice of network made no visible difference in the reports; for the desert and mountains the Etisalat-based providers have the better odds, and GigSky's auto-switching is the one way to get both networks on one eSIM. How to Set Up an eSIM for the United Arab Emirates

The one rule for the UAE is to finish the setup at home, because several providers' apps and sites are blocked or limited inside the country and the eSIM has to be on the phone before you land.

1. Check that your phone is unlocked and eSIM-capable; our list of phones with eSIM support covers the common models.
2. Buy before you fly. Saily cannot be bought from inside the UAE, Ubigi's app and site are unreachable there, Yesim's may be limited, Roamless asks for installation before arrival, and Airalo reviewers in mid-2026 found purchases failing from inside the country.
3. Install on Wi-Fi at home and save the QR code offline. Holafly, Global YO and Yesim cannot reinstall a deleted eSIM, so do not remove it to tidy up. Our guides show the steps on iPhone and Samsung.
4. Set the APN where the provider asks: globaldata for Global YO and Maya Mobile, gigsky for GigSky, and for Roamless the Proximus profile that fixed our own test.
5. Leave the line switched off until you land, then turn on data roaming and select the eSIM for mobile data. Almost every plan here starts on first connection; the exceptions are Yesim, whose plan started at purchase in our test, and GoMoWorld, where nothing happens until you press Start. Activation windows: 30 days for Nomad and Saily, 90 days for eSIM4Travel, 6 months for Ubigi.

Calls and SMS in the United Arab Emirates

The UAE's calling code is +971, and no travel eSIM on this page sells a UAE phone number; if you need a local number, Virgin Mobile's tourist eSIM, e&'s Visitor Line and du's Tourist SIM include minutes and a number. The bigger surprise is the app side: WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram and Skype voice and video calls are widely reported not to connect on UAE networks, for residents and tourists alike, on Wi-Fi or mobile data, while WhatsApp text, photos and voice messages work; we could not confirm the rule on a regulator page, and one Airalo reviewer in August 2026 found WhatsApp and FaceTime calls working through Airalo's routing, so results vary by provider. Travel sites report that BOTIM, C'Me, Voico, HiU Messenger and GoChat are the licensed calling apps, usually with an internet-calling add-on from e& or du, and that Zoom, Teams and Google Meet work. Using a VPN to get around the block is reported to be against UAE law, so we do not suggest it.

Among the eSIMs, Airalo's Discover+ global plans in our tool include a US number for calls and texts and cover the UAE; Jetpac sells in-app voice packs, and one reviewer made clear calls to the UK from Dubai; Roamless and Global YO offer outgoing app calls; Saily lists a phone number with minutes for the UAE on its page, which a third-party review says is US-based. ByteSIM's own page advertises data-plus-calls plans with a local number [11], but none were in our tool at export time. Everything else here is data-only.

Free eSIM Data for the United Arab Emirates

Three providers on this page give away a small amount of data that works in the UAE. Roamless lists a free 400 MB starter for new users in our tool, enough to land, open maps and book a ride. GigSky offers a 100 MB trial, and its page says eligible Visa cardholders get free unlimited data in the UAE for 3 or 7 days from 1 Apr 2026, though one reviewer lost that benefit by letting it expire before the trip, so check the dates. Holafly adds a free 1 GB a month after a plan ends if you keep the eSIM installed. The free tourist SIM at Dubai airport (1 GB or 10 GB for 24 hours, sources disagree) is the physical-SIM equivalent. Summary: the best eSIM for the United Arab Emirates

Based on 168 traveler reports and our own tests, Holafly is the best option for most trips to the UAE: it worked well for 19 of 20 travelers, its one weakness being speeds that looked capped in our test and the highest price among unlimited plans. Yesim (22 of 26) is the choice for unlimited data priced by the day, weaker on support and blocked or limited inside the UAE, so it needs installing first. Global YO (16 of 21, and 14 of 15 in Dubai) is the budget pick and the one for large plans, on 4G only with app-only purchase. Airalo (15 of 21) is the easy first eSIM on Etisalat, with misses clustered in July and August 2026.

Roamless worked for all 10 travelers who reported and suits stopovers and repeat visits, since its credit never expires, though it is dear for 10 GB and up. eSIM4Travel is the cheapest in our comparison for the UAE with the best help desk we tested, but it has no app and no traveler reports from the UAE yet. Maya Mobile (18 of 19) deserves a mention for multi-country trips and cruises.
