Jetpac is the best option for a family or group that wants calls, a hotspot and a reusable eSIM, because it is the only provider with a clean record here. It worked well for 3 of 3 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (100%), which is limited evidence. One traveler bought three eSIMs for a group trip and reported no problems with speed or coverage. Another had a technical issue on arrival and wrote that the help desk fixed it quickly, and the third asked about a cruise package and got a fast reply.

There were no misses, but 3 reports cannot tell you how it does in the resort zones, where other providers failed. None of the three names Punta Cana or Santo Domingo. Jetpac's own country page did not name its network when we checked in August 2026. Its two country plans in our comparison tool, 15 GB and 30 GB for 30 days, are flagged 4G only, so a 5G phone gains nothing. "We didn't have any problems with the speed or coverage" (17 Dec 2024) is the one report that describes the connection.

What sets Jetpac apart is what keeps working after the data runs out: WhatsApp, Google Maps, Uber and Grab stay free on packs of 3 GB or more, and in our test the eSIM installed in the app and connected right away. It sells in-app voice packs and an unlimited hotspot. Smaller needs are covered by its Caribbean and Latin America regional packs from 1 GB. It sits among the more expensive providers in our comparison, and the site and app were the roughest we tested, with a lagging usage counter and slow pages, as our Jetpac review shows. Unactivated packs are kept for 3 months. Jetpac suits travelers who will use the calls or the free apps; for a cheap 5 GB plan, look elsewhere.

Maya Mobile is the best option for a week or more of heavy use, or for a trip that mixes the Dominican Republic with Mexico or the USA, because one global unlimited plan covers all of it and almost everyone who reported was happy. It worked well for 7 of 8 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (88%), limited evidence. The successes describe an easy install, data on arrival at Punta Cana, coverage "everywhere" on a holiday, and enough data for a whole Christmas visit. "Worked immediately on arrival at Punta Cana" (31 Mar 2026) is typical.

The one miss was an eSIM that never connected: the traveler exchanged messages with the help desk, got no fix and no answer to a refund request (July 2024). That matches our own test, where the help desk took a form and a wait to reach a person and then answered with templates. Nothing in the reports points to a region or a city as the problem.

Maya sells only unlimited plans, for 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, in 178 countries, plus a Global and Cruise version for ships. The daily allowance is 5 GB at full speed, then a slower rate until the next day, the fairest unlimited rule we have tested; the hotspot is included and you can top up. Its own page showed a flat daily rate when we checked in August 2026, flagged for re-verification, so check the plan terms at checkout. It is by far the cheapest global unlimited plan in our comparison, but it sells nothing small, so a 3-day plan costs more than a 1 GB plan elsewhere. In our test the eSIM installed in one click with the APN set by hand, and it does not name its Dominican network. Maya Mobile is the pick for stays of a week or more; for a weekend on a tight budget, a fixed plan is cheaper.

GigSky is the best option for a cruise that calls at the Dominican Republic and for Visa cardholders who get its plans free, because it has the most reports of any provider here and most of them are positive. It worked well for 12 of 14 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (86%), limited evidence. The successes include a 60-day stay, several devices over repeated trips, a two-week stay with transit data in the USA, and a Celebrity cruise where it worked on the ship and in port. Two of the Punta Cana reports describe decent coverage and good enough speed for a vacation.

The two misses were a cruise from Miami with no service in port or on land (June 2025) and a 5 GB plan that showed as connected but gave no internet, with the help desk unable to fix it (March 2025). A recurring complaint among the successes is speed: "I often reverted to 3G" (25 Jun 2026), another traveler got "not even 4G" most of the time, and one found the signal poor about 30 minutes outside Punta Cana. One setup needed the eSIM deleted and reinstalled before it worked. Connecting on arrival took a few minutes for the cruise traveler.

GigSky's own blog says all its Dominican plans connect to Claro, the largest network, while its storefront still says the network varies (checked September 2026); its storefront also showed Dominican plans as temporarily unavailable on 31 Aug 2026, so check it before you rely on it. Our comparison tool lists country plans of 1, 3, 5 and 10 GB, a 1-day unlimited pass, Caribbean regional plans up to 50 GB, and Cruise and Land plans for the Americas and the Caribbean. The app stays partly online when the data runs out, so you can buy more without Wi-Fi, which our GigSky review found only Ubigi could match. The drawbacks: you must install the app to buy, and GigSky is the most expensive provider in our comparison overall, though at the market level in its big markets. GigSky is worth it for a cruise or a free Visa plan; for speed, the reports favor others.

Ubigi is the best option for Santo Domingo and for travelers who want a large plan they can top up without Wi-Fi, but not for a Punta Cana resort stay. It worked well for 9 of 11 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (82%), limited evidence. The successes describe an 8-day trip with a strong signal, good speed, an easy setup, and both Santo Domingo reports worked, though one of them describes drops to Wi-Fi at times.

Both misses were in Punta Cana. One traveler reported bad coverage there (August 2026), and another used less than 1 GB of a 10 GB plan because "the connection was unstable and often unusable, even in a major tourist destination like Punta Cana" (18 Jul 2026). A third Punta Cana traveler, a repeat Ubigi customer, had no reception at the airport or the resort and fell back to Wi-Fi. Ubigi's own replies suggest selecting a different partner network by hand, which is worth trying before you give up.

Ubigi's own page names Altice as its network here and a 30 GB full-speed allowance on its unlimited plans before slowing, as of August 2026. Our comparison tool lists country plans of 1, 3, 10 and 25 GB, unlimited for 7, 15 or 30 days, and Caribbean and Americas regional plans. The eSIM warns you before the balance hits zero and lets you buy more with no data left, a rare feature. The main drawback is the help desk: in our test the ticket went unanswered after 24 hours, the worst outcome we recorded, and the app is a wrapped website, as our Ubigi review details. Price sits just below the market average in our comparison, with the cheapest 30-day unlimited of the single-country sellers. Ubigi suits experienced users heading to the capital; for Punta Cana, the reports say no.

Holafly is the best option for a first-time eSIM user who wants unlimited data with no setup, with one warning: in our test, Holafly's speed was capped from the start, before any data was used. It worked well for 4 of 5 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (80%), limited evidence. The capped speed is enough for maps, messaging, browsing and streaming, but slow for large downloads, uploads, cloud backups and laptop work. The hotspot is limited to 1 GB a day and there are no top-ups; you buy a new eSIM instead. The successes describe a first eSIM that gave "data the moment my plane landed in the Dominican Republic" (9 Jun 2026), repeat users who never ran out of data, and one who has used it in five countries without trouble.

The one miss was Punta Cana: a traveler wrote that it did not work well at all there (August 2026), and Holafly's reply promised to look into the order. That is one report, but it joins Ubigi, Nomad and ByteSIM misses in the same resort zone. Holafly's own page concedes that quality may be weaker in mountains and jungle, and names Altice as its single network here, as of August 2026.

Holafly sells unlimited plans only, for 3 to 30 days in our comparison tool, and a free 1 GB a month after the plan ends if you keep the eSIM. Installation is one tap in the app, no QR code, and the help desk reached a quick human after a bot in our test. It is among the most expensive unlimited plans in our comparison, and our Holafly review explains the capped speed finding. Holafly suits travelers who do not want to think about data; for a laptop hotspot or big uploads, it is the wrong pick.

eSIM4Travel is the best option for a cheap fixed plan with a human help desk, on the strength of our hands-on test and its price position rather than reports: only 2 travelers have reported from the Dominican Republic so far, both positive, which is too few to judge. One of them had a connection problem that the company followed up and fixed, and then wrote "My connection is working in the Dominican Republic" (12 Sep 2024). The other reviewer could not find a country plan in May 2025; our comparison tool now lists one.

In our test the help desk was the best of the 14: a short bot, one click to a person, and the problem solved with a tip to switch network. The eSIM arrived by email, installed from a QR code and worked right away, with no app needed. Those are findings from our test outside the country, not from a trip there.

eSIM4Travel is usually the cheapest provider in our comparison, and here its 3 GB and 5 GB plans sat below the midpoint of the other providers' prices when we checked in October 2026; its edge fades at 50 GB and is smaller in the Americas. Our comparison tool lists Dominican plans named with Claro in the title, from 1 GB for a day to 50 GB for 30 days, unlimited for 3 to 30 days (3 GB a day at full speed, then slowed), and a Global 72 regional plan. The research could not confirm the Claro network on the provider's own page, so treat it as reported. The downsides: no app, no Google Pay, and no way to top up without Wi-Fi once the data runs out, as our eSIM4Travel review shows. eSIM4Travel suits price-driven travelers who install at home and want a person to talk to if it fails.

Airalo is not a top pick here because three travelers could not get it to work at all and two more had an unstable connection. It worked well for 8 of 11 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (73%), limited evidence. The misses, all from June and July 2026: an eSIM that did not work at all so the traveler bought another provider's plan, a phone with roaming set correctly and no internet, a world package that did not work for the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, and one whose "connection kept dropping" (28 Jun 2026). A long-time customer needed two hours with the help desk before the unlimited package connected. The successes are mostly multi-country users who list the Dominican Republic among places where it worked, and one who stayed in touch with family in the Bahamas.

Airalo switched its Dominican network from Claro to Altice, confirmed on its package pages on 25 Sep 2026, and every one of its country plans is 4G only. Our comparison tool lists country plans from 1 GB to 20 GB for 3 to 30 days, unlimited for 3 to 30 days (3 GB a day at full speed, then slowed), and its Discover global plans. It has the lowest report record of the 14 providers across all countries, and its price sits at the market average, never the cheapest. The purchase and install were among the easiest we tested, as our Airalo review shows, and it sells more plans with calls and texts than anyone, though not for this country. Airalo might still suit a beginner who already has the app and a multi-country trip.

Nomad is not a top pick here because the misses outnumber any other provider's and two of them are in the main resort zone. It worked well for 4 of 7 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (57%), limited evidence. The misses, all in 2026: "The coverage in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, is extremely poor" (22 Aug 2026), a bad connection in Punta Cana, frequent disconnects and slow speeds from a years-long customer, and one who wasted hours trying to fix it. One 4-star reviewer had it working in some areas but not others. The successes: a third-time user with no issues across the USA, the Caribbean and the Dominican Republic, and a traveler whose connection problem on arrival was fixed quickly by an agent.

Nomad's own page names Claro as its network here, re-confirmed on 25 Sep 2026, and still lists Puerto Rico as a Dominican city, a copy error. Our comparison tool lists country plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, with a free 1 GB trial, and Global plans up to 20 GB; the plan terms say 30 days to activate, while the page said 60 days when we checked, so treat 30 as the safe figure. Its price is just below the market average in our comparison and it is cheap in Mexico, which matters for a combined trip. ByteSIM is not a top pick here because half the travelers who reported had trouble and our comparison tool lists no ByteSIM plan for the country. It worked well for 5 of 10 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (50%), limited evidence. The misses: an eSIM for Punta Cana that worked for two days only (July 2024), a Pixel phone that would not connect and was refunded, and a network engineer who got only 3G on the bus from Punta Cana airport to Bávaro, found his traffic routed through Hong Kong and could not use a VPN (October 2023, on Altice). The successes describe good coverage in Punta Cana, "The internet works well and anywhere in punta cana" (14 Jun 2024), fast WhatsApp replies and quick refunds through PayPal.

ByteSIM's own page named Altice as its primary network with Claro and Viva as backup on voice plans, a hard slowdown after the quota, and the only Dominican bundles with local calls and SMS of any provider in the research, as of August 2026. Those plans were not in our comparison tool as of October 2026, so there is no plan table here. In our test the checkout demanded a postal address, the app threw install errors and the WhatsApp help desk did not reply within 15 minutes, though the Dominican reviewers describe fast replies; see our ByteSIM review. ByteSIM might still suit someone who needs a local number, if its plans are back on sale.

Global YO is not a top pick here only because too few travelers have reported from the country to judge. It worked well for 2 of 2 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (100%): one used it there before buying more eSIMs for Turkey (July 2024) and praised the price, the other was still carrying a global plan into the Dominican Republic with data left (April 2026). Both complain about the app's full-screen ads and notifications, not the connection.

Global YO's own page names Claro as its network and 4G only, with no ID check, hotspot allowed and the APN set by hand, as of August 2026. Our comparison tool lists country plans from 1 GB for 3 days up to 100 GB for 60 days, Caribbean Explorer regional plans, Global Explorer plans, and day plans of 1 GB a day. GoMoWorld is not a top pick here because only 2 travelers have reported from the country, too few to judge, and because its plans need a manual start that catches people out. It worked well for 2 of 2 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (100%): a French-speaking traveler called it perfect with an easy install (January 2024), and a traveler disappointed by rural Mexico wrote "I tried the service also in Dominican Repubblic and the connection was much better" (7 Apr 2025).

Our comparison tool lists four country plans, 500 MB for 7 days and 2, 5 and 7.5 GB for 30 days, with tethering and the plan clock starting only when you press Start; unstarted plans do not expire. Roamless is not a top pick here only because 2 reports are too few to judge. It worked well for 2 of 2 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (100%): one wrote that it "works great in the Dominican" (13 Mar 2026), and another used the same eSIM across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the USA and Spain in one week (October 2025). Neither names a place inside the country.

Roamless is one global eSIM with pay-as-you-go credit that never expires, plus 30-day country plans; our comparison tool lists Dominican plans from 1 GB to 50 GB, a free trial for new users, and the network listed as Claro, which Roamless's own page did not name when we checked in August 2026. Yesim is not a top pick here because a single report is too few to judge and because its help desk was among the slowest we tested. It worked well for 1 of 1 travelers who reported from the Dominican Republic (100%), and that report gives no detail about where in the country it was used, so there is nothing to add about misses or places.

Our comparison tool lists country plans of 1, 3, 5 and 10 GB for 30 days, unlimited for 1, 7 or 15 days with an unpublished throttle, Caribbean regional plans and a Global Plus package. Yesim's page did not name its network when we checked in August 2026, and its page wrongly lists Haitian Creole as an official language. Saily is not a top pick here because there are no traveler reports from the Dominican Republic yet and because it is among the most expensive providers in the places people travel. Its record elsewhere is below the market in our report data, so there is nothing to lean on for this country.

Our comparison tool lists three country plans, 1 GB for 7 days and 3 or 5 GB for 30 days, plus Global plans from 1 GB to 20 GB. Saily's page did not name its network when we checked in August 2026; it stated no hotspot limits and a US number as an add-on, and its activation window was flagged for re-verification after another country page flipped from 180 to 30 days in September 2026. Its app, install and help desk were the most polished we tested, with a free VPN location included, as our Saily review shows, but the eSIM lives only in the app and the price is the drawback. Saily suits a first-timer who values the help desk over price.

Providers travelers report from the Dominican Republic that we have not tested

Price per GB in the Dominican Republic by eSIM Provider

How much does each provider charge per GB in the Dominican Republic? The chart below compares plans of 1 to 10 GB that last 6 to 14 days, the usual range for a one- or two-week resort stay. Provider websites show only their own plans, so this side-by-side view is one you would otherwise have to calculate yourself. A shorter bar means a lower price per GB.

The tables below are live and sort each size by price. Two things the price does not show: Airalo's and Global YO's country plans are 4G only, and Jetpac's two country plans start at 15 GB, so its smaller sizes come from regional packs. Best eSIM for Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Bávaro

Jetpac, the overall pick, has no reports from any named place in the country, so the table below cannot test it in Punta Cana. Punta Cana is the only place with enough reports for its own section; Santo Domingo, Bávaro and Punta Cana airport have one or two each.

Best eSIM for Punta Cana

No provider earns the Punta Cana pick outright, so the country pick stands, with GigSky and Maya Mobile the two providers whose Punta Cana reports all worked. GigSky's two travelers there describe decent coverage and good enough speed for a vacation, and Maya's one traveler had data on arrival. The misses are the useful part: Nomad's two Punta Cana reports both describe a poor, slow connection (July and August 2026); Ubigi failed in two of three, with one traveler finding no reception at the airport or the resort and another calling it unusable (April to August 2026); Holafly's single Punta Cana report did not work well (August 2026); and ByteSIM's miss was an eSIM that stopped after two days (July 2024). Three of those four providers sit on Altice, Nomad on Claro, so the reports do not point at one network.

At the airport, the pattern favors eSIMs set up before the flight: Holafly and Maya travelers had data the moment they landed, GigSky's cruise traveler waited a few minutes, and the Ubigi traveler had nothing until the resort Wi-Fi. The one Punta Cana airport report, a 2023 ByteSIM bus transfer to Bávaro on 3G, is too old and too lonely to count against the airport itself. One GigSky traveler found the signal poor about 30 minutes out of Punta Cana, which fits the research: the Bávaro and Punta Cana corridor is well served, and the gaps start inland.

Santo Domingo has only Ubigi's two reports, both counted as working, though one describes drops to Wi-Fi at times; no traveler reports from the Cordillera Central, the Sierra de Bahoruco or the Haitian border yet, where the research says all three networks thin out and Claro's own map is the one to check [5].

Local SIM Cards and Operator eSIMs in the Dominican Republic

A local SIM is far cheaper than any travel eSIM here, but it costs you a store visit with your passport, and you cannot buy one inside Punta Cana airport. Prepaid registration has been mandatory since 2013, and regulator order 064-2025 of June 2025 told operators to validate every prepaid identity against a cédula, a passport or a residency card, with unvalidated lines suspended and then cancelled [2]. For a visitor that means a passport in person at an operator store or an airport counter; Holafly's guide also lists a passport copy, proof of accommodation and a payment method, and 30 to 60 minutes.

Prices, as of August 2026, all reported by Holafly's and Saily's SIM guides because the operator pages are script-rendered and showed us no prices: a Claro SIM costs about RD$150 (about $2.00), with 3 to 5 GB packs that last 3 to 5 days; Altice gives the SIM free with a plan and sells a tourist pack of 15 GB with unlimited calls and SMS and RD$300 of credit for RD$550 (about $10.00), plus unlimited-data passes of 1 to 5 days for RD$49 to RD$139; Viva sells day-to-month packs. Claro's and Altice's own prepaid pages carry the current offers [9] [10], and Claro's recharge page says prepaid prices include the 18% ITBIS tax. Treat every figure as a snapshot to re-check.

Operator eSIMs for visitors we could not confirm. Claro's site shows eSIM menus, but whether a tourist can get one without a store visit is unclear; Viva lists an eSIM with an RD$150 activation fee in its online store, out of stock when we checked [8]; Altice has no consumer eSIM page we could find. Do not plan on an operator eSIM bought from abroad.

Where to buy: Las Américas airport in Santo Domingo has Claro and Altice counters in arrivals, at a 20 to 30% markup over city stores according to Holafly's guide. Punta Cana airport has no SIM point inside the terminal, according to Holafly and a travel blog; the nearest stores are at BlueMall. Holafly's guide also lists Viva kiosks at Puerto Plata airport and somewhere in Punta Cana, which conflicts with the "no SIM point" finding, so we could not confirm either. Official stores sit in Santo Domingo, Santiago and La Romana.

A local SIM beats a travel eSIM when you need Dominican calls and SMS, stay several weeks, or travel on a tight budget and do not mind the registration queue; a travel eSIM wins when you want data the moment you land at Punta Cana, no passport paperwork and no transaction in Spanish, and the research found no price point at which the eSIM comes out cheaper.

Mobile Networks in the Dominican Republic

Claro is the network to want outside the resorts and the two big cities, and the regulator's figures say why: at the end of 2025 it held 63.7% of mobile lines and 60.6% of mobile internet subscriptions, Altice 33.5% of lines and Viva 2.8% [1]. Claro and Altice both run 5G; Viva does not, and its subscriber base fell about a fifth in 2025. The regulator publishes no coverage percentages, so the operator maps are the only official view: Claro's [5] and Altice's [7]. Claro's own 5G page gives two different footprints, so we quote neither [6].

Where each wins, according to the field reports and prepaid guides we read: Claro is the only network described as usable across provincial towns, rural areas and the western border; Altice is strong in central Santo Domingo and Santiago, on the main highways and along the north and south-east coasts, and thins out in the western mountains; Viva covers Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata and is near absent at the border and offshore. All three are weak in the Sierra de Bahoruco, the Cordillera Central interior, the Haitian border strip, national parks and secluded beaches. Press reports of Ookla's award ceremonies name Claro the fastest mobile network for five years running and the best mobile network in 2025, while ByteSIM's page cites Ookla figures that favor Altice on consistency; the underlying report was not reachable, so we show both. Altice holds 100 MHz of 3.5 GHz spectrum for 5G under its 2021 concession addendum [3], and press reports say the regulator opened a new tender in February 2026 that includes the 700 MHz band, which no operator holds yet.

Which eSIM lands on which network, as of September 2026: Nomad and Global YO name Claro on their own pages, GigSky names Claro in its blog, and eSIM4Travel's plan names say Claro but its page could not be checked. Airalo (since its switch from Claro), Holafly, Ubigi and ByteSIM name Altice. Jetpac, Saily, Yesim, GoMoWorld, Maya Mobile and Roamless did not name a network on their pages when we checked, though our comparison tool lists Roamless as Claro. No travel eSIM uses Viva. The research has no 3G shutdown date; two travelers here described falling back to 3G, with GigSky and ByteSIM, so a plan that stays on 4G is not guaranteed. One more thing to know: a nationwide blackout on 23 Feb 2026 was the second in three months according to press reports, and cell sites run on batteries when the grid fails. For the trip, that means a Claro-based eSIM for inland or border travel, either big network for the resorts and cities, and a second eSIM or a provider that lets you switch operator if you go far from both.

How to Set Up an eSIM for the Dominican Republic

Install at home, before you fly, because Punta Cana airport sells no SIMs and most plans here start only when the eSIM first connects in the country. The exceptions are the ones to watch.

1. Check that your phone takes an eSIM and is unlocked; our list of phones with eSIM covers the models. Airalo and Global YO plans here are 4G only, so a 5G phone does not help with them.
2. Buy and install on home Wi-Fi. Almost every plan waits for the first connection in the country, but Yesim's plan started at purchase in our test, GoMoWorld does nothing until you press Start in the app, and some Airalo packages start at install, so check the package page. Activation windows: eSIM4Travel 90 days, Nomad 30 days by its plan terms, Jetpac packs 3 months, Ubigi 6 months. GigSky says keep the eSIM switched off until you travel.
3. Add the profile from the QR code in the email (eSIM4Travel, Airalo, Maya, Ubigi, Yesim, Jetpac, Nomad, Holafly) or inside the app (GoMoWorld, Saily, Roamless, GigSky, Global YO). Our guides for iPhone and Samsung show the taps.
4. On landing, turn on data roaming for the eSIM and set it as the line for mobile data. Some providers need an APN typed in: "globaldata" for Maya and Global YO, "gigsky" for GigSky, "mobiledata" for Ubigi; in our test Roamless connected only after we picked a different APN from its list.
5. No data after a few minutes? Toggle airplane mode, then pick the network by hand in the phone settings, which Ubigi recommends for Punta Cana; one GigSky traveler got going only after deleting and reinstalling the eSIM. Calls and SMS in the Dominican Republic

Almost every travel eSIM for the Dominican Republic is data-only, so calls go over WhatsApp, which one Maya traveler found is what most people there use anyway. The calling code is +1, followed by the area codes 809, 829 or 849. None of the plans in our comparison tool include minutes or texts for the country. ByteSIM's own page listed bundles with local calls and SMS in August 2026, the only ones in the research, but those plans were not in our tool in October 2026.

For a number of your own: Jetpac sells in-app voice packs, Roamless offers in-app calls and a second number, Global YO has outgoing internet calls, and Airalo's Discover+ plan and Saily's add-on give a US number, none of them Dominican. One Airalo traveler was disappointed that the eSIM allowed no local calls. The cheapest way to call and text locally is the Altice tourist pack with unlimited calls and SMS described in the local SIM section, which needs a passport at a store.

Free eSIM Data for the Dominican Republic

Four providers give away data that works in the Dominican Republic. Roamless lists a free trial plan of about 300 MB for new users in our comparison tool, with no throttling. GigSky offers a free 100 MB trial and free plans for Visa cardholders; three of the GigSky reports here came from travelers on a complimentary Visa plan, one of them for two weeks. Summary: the best eSIM for the Dominican Republic

Jetpac has the cleanest record, 3 of 3 travelers, and suits groups who want calls, a hotspot and apps that keep working at zero data; the weakness is that 3 reports and 4G-only country plans from 15 GB up leave a lot unknown. Maya Mobile, 7 of 8, is the pick for a week or more of heavy use on one global unlimited plan, with one eSIM that never connected and a help desk that could not fix it. GigSky, 12 of 14, is the choice for cruises and free Visa plans, with slow speeds the recurring complaint. Ubigi, 9 of 11, worked in Santo Domingo and tops up without Wi-Fi, but failed two of three times in Punta Cana and its help desk never answered our ticket. Holafly, 4 of 5, is the simplest install with unlimited data, but its speed was capped from the start in our test and its one miss was Punta Cana. eSIM4Travel has only 2 reports, both positive, and earns its place on price and the best help desk we tested.

For the resorts, the reports say more about who failed than who won: Nomad, Ubigi, Holafly and ByteSIM all had misses in Punta Cana, so a provider with a clean record there, or a second eSIM, is cheap insurance. Based on the 78 reports and our tests, the best eSIM for the Dominican Republic in 2026 is Jetpac for most trips, Maya Mobile for long stays, and eSIM4Travel when price matters most.
